  • A full report will be submitted for you to inspect in 7-10 days.
  • Although tapping up occurs all the time it is still currently illegal. It’s fairly common knowledge that Rice agreed terms with Arsenal months ago.
  • Should we have enquired bout Balogun when dealing with Arsenal and did a part exchsnge? I wonder where Antonio and Scamacca will be even before the end of the window

Never thought Paulihna would be an option as there's been plenty of hands off/non encouragement for bids. Alverez was always going to be a cheaper option.

It seems like we're looking for a genuine, disciplined, break up play and move the ball on DM given our interest in Palhinha and Alvarez amongst others. Slightly left-field option here, but could the answer be at the club already? No, I'm not talking about Downes, or Soucek, but a peak age (26yo) Germany international with 27 caps who somehow isn't a starter at either RB or right CB for us, step forward Thilo Kehrer.

I know we often try to shoe-horn players into difficult to fill positions, but for me DM really seems the best fit for him at our club. He's not a great partner for Aguerd whenever Zouma is out, as neither is aerially dominant and this is a weakness that could be exposed by certain teams in the PL, and neither is he a natural RB. According to TransferMarket he has played DM before, although I don't know how often or how successfully, but having watched him play last season I really feel that it is the position that would suit him most at our club and how we currently play.

Imo we need a CB to replace Dawson anyway, so that would leave the newcomer and Zouma as right sided CBs, with Aguerd and Ogbonna covering left CB, so Kehrer wasn't in my CB conversation at all except as emergency cover. So, instead of lumping out £35-45m on Palhinha or Alvarez, we spend that money on a new LB and RB at about £20-25m a pop that could transform our starting 11 for the same money.

Palhinha seems to be unavailable at a realistic price, and Alvarez just seems so slow. I honestly think Kehrer would do a great job just sitting and breaking up play with 2 decent CBs behind him and 2 new FBs as well.
  • Do we have anyone even close to singing for us yet

I get the impression that tapping up was only a thing if a club was talking directly to a player under contract to another club.

Agents aren't contracted to clubs so I assume they can be spoken to by anyone at any time, on their clients behalf, without censure.

    It would appear not.
  • They’ve got to sign before they do the initiation ceremony
  • Official tapping up rule

“Subject to Rule T.7, a contracted player, either by himself or by any person on his behalf, shall not either directly or indirectly make any such approach as is referred to in Rule T.5 without having obtained the prior written consent of his club."

In short, a player is only able to contact another club to try and agree a transfer if they have the written consent of their current club first.

As long as the player has the written consent of the club, they are able to agree personal terms, even if no official fee has yet been confirmed.”

Even Ian Wright has confirmed he’s been speaking to Rice at England games and persuading him to go to Arsenal.

I'll sing for us but to he honest, I'm a bit ropey hahaha
  • OCS, We are doing our transfers in the "West Ham Way"!
One of the You Tubers has already posted something about what is the point of having Tim Steidten if David Moyes is just going to bat aside his recommendations and go his way buying the players we have all heard of because they have history in the EPL & are aged 28+?
  • We signed a load of players with no premier league experience last year and it took ages for us to find our feet as a squad. I am completely comfortable with is signing experienced PL players, tbh.
  • How I feel when I update this thread

  • @alderz, I put that down to David Moyes deciding they needed time to get up to speed with the EPL where as other managers don't appear to have that concern.
  • Who would have thought.
    No signings yet. 🤦‍♂️
  • And no one singing either =)

Whether you put it down to that or not, if that is the case then presumably the theory will still be the same this summer?
  • @alderz, Which is very disappointing.
See Bournemouth are close to signing Milos Kerkez from Alkmaar & Forest hope to sign Nascimento from Botafogo. Yes I have seen these play.

    Yay

    No signings yet. 🤦‍♂️

Remind me, how long has it been since Declan was sold?🤷🏻‍♂️

  • Officially 2 days, unofficially 6 months

Are we saying that signings could only be made when Rice was officially sold?
  • We can’t make any signings until the post dated cheques from Arsenal clear

I wonder if Kehrer would put himself forward for the role? Whether Moyes/coaches can see that in him and could desire to try him out there in pre season games? I personally see some of his qualities being a decent player there too Buffy

But Forest sign everyone, and get pelters for doing so from nearly everyone.

Well that did seem to be the general consensus, yes.
There’s been a lot of digging out Arsenal for dragging their feet and therefore not letting getting on with our transfer activity hasn’t there ? Or did I imagine that?

  • @IronHerb, See you conveniently didn’t comment on the Bournemouth signing. 😉
@Slacker, Aston Villa made signings prior to Grealish leaving them the other season. We should have had lots of players to go for mainly not the ones we have so far reported to have made bids on IMHO. David Moyes Red Bull project still under wraps?
  • Man, we're bouncing between targets if the latest reports are true. Palhinha, Alvarez, Goretzka and now advanced talks with Gallagher, according to Sky Germany.

That's probably double figures now for our supposed midfield targets.

Hopefully one day soon we might sign a couple of them.

Arsenal did drag their feet. But none of us know if that is the reason we haven't signed any one yet.... just pure speculation with no facts 👀
Seriously though, the board new hed be sold and theyd be loads of money from it... why wouldnt they be able to spend money before the transfer happened?
  • The Clubs transfer dealings is tinpot. We didn't even have a replacement ready to go when Rice was sold. We're still chucking bids out with zero clue to whether they will be accepted. Should have had these conversations 3 weeks ago before Rice was sold.
Actually disgusting watching how Brighton and others conduct business. Sell a player with someone lined up ready to come in within the week. Bids accepted straight away and looking onto the next one.
Meanwhile West Ham making bids to get rejected and jumping from target to target.
