  • I’ll raise you Max Branning 🤣
  • We are getting 100m for a Chelsea cast off!
  • Advanced talks to sign Barnes.

    CM - CM
    Bowen - Paqueta - Barnes
    Scamacca

That is a very nice trio.

Two new midfielders to sit behind those. I am not convinced we won’t start the new season with a new striker.
  • I see your maximus and raise you Maxi Priest and Shabba!
  • I see your Maxi Priest and raise you Max headroom

  • Max Aarons being linked, who seems to be a possible replacement for Ben Johnson who is being linked with a move away.
  • Fulham want £60m for Portugal midfielder Joao Palhinha, 27, which would be a club-record fee for West Ham. (Football Insider)

West Ham are in advanced talks with Leicester City for English winger Harvey Barnes, 25. (90min)
  • Even if he goes for less than £60m, Palhinha isn't going to offer anything close to value for money given Fulham only paid £20m for him last summer. Sangare would be my first choice, but I'm not sure he's particularly realistic. I'm not overly impressed with what I've seen (admittedly not that much) of Alvarez at the sort of prices that are being quoted for him.

Tyler Adams appeals despite his injury; as long as there aren't doubts of that I'd be interested, I don't think it's a coincidence that Leeds's form fell off a cliff while he was out. Unfortunately I'm not sure he's got the physique that Moyes looks for in a DM. Zakaria does appear to be an option though, and I think I'd prefer us to take Adams and Zakaria for the money it would cost for Palhinha.
  • Zakaria looks quite exciting on his you tube clips - he's quick, can tackle, pass and a bit of a baller too. 18M euros looks cheap - must be a catch?
  • I've heard he's injury prone

  • Sounds like the perfect West Ham signing, get him in. =)
  • Looking through that, doesn't seem particularly injury prone.

Hamstring last season, abductor season before. Before that, mostly ok apart from COVID. Quite a big knee problem season before that.

The rest is niggles and strains, par for the course.

The board seem to have got mean:

West Ham have rejected an offer from Torino for Vlasic, stating the full agreed fee must be paid after they offered less than the agreed purchase price.

West Ham have insisted that Gianluca Scamacca will only be sold if an offer of £35m is received, stating he is not available for loan. This has deterred Italian clubs.

West Ham continue to negotiate with Arsenal over Declan Rice, insisting the fee is paid by 2025, & there is a chance the compromise may see Arsenal pay more than the £105m.
  • Sully trying to get all the loot paid in before he goes? 🤔
  • Good on the board for doing that. Tired of us losing money on our transfer dealings. If the Italian clubs can’t pay what we want, especially in the case of Torino having had a price pre set then we can just keep the players. Although Vlasic may not be a very happy 🐰!
  • Are we all happy with Emerson or do we need another LB?

I’m happy with Emerson, Cresswell and Scarles as options, personally. If we can sign a clear upgrade then sure, but if not then I think there are bigger fish to fry. Tavares isn’t the answer IMO.

Yeah I just never made my mind up on Emerson; thought some games he was excellent & some he was awful.

Do we start with Fab as number 1 again next season?

I'm not thrilled by Emerson and Cresswell as our LB options, but I don't think it's an area we're going to address this window.
  • I think I’d personally go for Areola over Fabianski in the league this season, but honestly I don’t see a great difference in ability between the two so I wouldn’t be disappointed if it was the other way around.

    Areola for me, definitely.

  • Evening Standard have linked us with Bristol City's 19yo DM/CM/AM/RM Alex Scott with a reported price tag of £25m.

England U20, Championship young player of the season and included in the Championship team of the season

91 appearances since April 2021 with 6 goals, 7 assists and 23 yellow cards

    Another Flynn Downes?
  • This guy is actually young, Downes is the same age as Rice. So there’s probably more potential, whereas I think we’ll get only a bit more than what we’re seeing with Downes. (I don’t think what we’re seeing is bad or that he’s had enough opportunity to really show his current level yet).
  • Another Flynn Downes?

Scott is only 19 and I think has the potential to reach a much higher ceiling than Downes. Obviously we'd be paying a good chunk for that potential, but if we leave it this summer he'll likely get snapped up by another PL team and our chance will have gone. I'd like to see us take a punt on him, as long as we see him getting plenty of game time (and not just in the Europa), as a 19 year old who's used to playing most weeks isn't going to develop if he's sat on our bench.

  • I think he’d be a very exciting signing. He’s near the top of my wish list.
