    Areola
    Coufal - Zouma - Aguerd - Cresswell
    Onana - Rice
    Bowen - Fornals - Lanzini
    Antonio

    Fabianski
    Ashby - Dawson - Ogbonna - Johnson
    Soucek - Downes
    Cornet - Vlasic - Benrahma
    Scamacca

Cornet can play very much across the front line, including as a second striker.
  • I don’t think Cornet is a Kostic alternative. I think he’s the alternative to Lingard.
  • OCS
"(Vlasic) just doesn't look to me to be physically or mentally strong enough to succeed in this league"

I'm sure I remember reading that one of the players said that Vlasic is one of the strongest he'd played with - or words to that effect.

That does ring a bell actually, but I've yet to see it demonstrated in competitive football.

I like the guy, and really want him to succeed, but I just can't see it myself.

Onana bid accepted according to Ex & Jacob Steinberg. Personal terms need to be agreed.
  • Rice told Soccer AM in February that Vlasic was "one of the top three strongest players I’ve played with"
  • The other two were Mount and Lingard. 😂
  • ‘ Man Utd, Chelsea monitoring Vardy
Manchester United and Chelsea are monitoring Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy, according to 90min.
The 35-year-old former England international has a year left to run on his contract at the King Power Stadium.’

    Really.. I mean really!!

Think this is the worst rumour I have heard this window 😂

Dharmesh is saying the same, but that personal terms are a long way from being agreed. I'd be surprised if the financial aspect of moving from Ligue 1 to the PL would be a problem.

I've read elsewhere that Moyes isn't convinced that Onana is worth the money and Sullivan won't sign off on the deal if Onana isn't an immediate first team option.

Would we get this far with Lille if the manager didn't want the player?

A lot of noise around this one; I guess the next couple of days will make things clearer.
  • Newman will be the one doing this deal. You don’t hire a Head of Recruitment & not use them. He’ll be in dialogue with Moyes & I think it’s perfectly normal for a player to he pursued who the manager doesn’t quite know everything about. That’s Newman’s job.
  • This was posted way before news of fee agreed broke:

  • BREAKING: West Ham have had an offer of €35m + €5m bonuses accepted by Lille for midfielder Amadou Onana

This is from 10 hours ago to 3 hours ago on various sites/ For me. it suggests we have moved back to him instead of the Pole in Italy.

I have to admit I'd rather have Onana. He's very young with bags of potential and resale whereas Zielinski has always played in Italy and whilst experienced I dont think he'd be all that in the Prem.

Rumours also suggesting Kostic has Uturned and fancies us now....

So he's either agreed a five-year contract or nothing at all has been agreed.

    Schira versus Sheth.

In The Know or I Don't Know.
  • Whilst I wouldn't mind an unfit Cornet (brain telling me dont make any puns, dont make any puns!!) That Sarr rumour seems to have gone away but I'd much rather have him than Cornet or Dennis

You know what... With Leicester apparently needing to 'balance books' I think all their saleable assets are going to be subject to conjecture.

They'll probably just sell Fofana for big bucks and settle them that way. Vardy is fair game with a year left on his contract but he's been there years and at his age he really would be the epitome of short term soluction. Also, with Daka in place, if someone came in with a decent offer, they might be tempted to cash in

If we want a serious no10 though, this may be the time to throw money at them for Maddison

For me, Cornet over Sarr/Dennis & by some distance.
  • Outside of scoring a few in succession when he first joined, I dont think Cornet did much after that. I know he was injured for a spell though (he does give the vibe of being a bit of a sick note).

When I've seen Sarr, he seems unplayable at times. Like the others linked to, he can play across the line and it would be a big positive to have that versatility
  • As an attacking midfielder / forward, I would prefer Sarr to Cornet. But that, and the Kostic rumour, makes me think Cornet is preferred because of his ability to play LWB.
  • Why not both*

Cornet and Benrahma as LW options.

Bowen and Sarr and RW options.

Scamacca and Antonio as CF options (Bowen, Cornet and Sarr can all play through the middle too).

I think European qualification through the league will be more difficult this season, so I'd like us to really attack the cup competitions; the ECL in particular. To do that, we need a strong, deep squad and have options across the park.

    *money
  • As someone said the other day we either get Onana now or we won't be able to in the future as he is believed to be the type of player who will continue to develop & end up at one of the top European sides in a couple of years time.

Sarr (not my opinion) I read somewhere questioning why is it that no one has taken him off Watford after three years there including two relegations. Richarlison moved on he hasn't?

    Still want a proper LB.

See I think Sarr is all noise & no real outcome (yet, no doubt he has potential). Cornet has 9 goals in 26 games playing (mainly) off the wing. We were linked with him before Burnley signed him so no doubt he is somebody we have tracked.
  • Not knocking him Lukerz. Also said I wouldnt mind him either. Just being picky and wanting Sarr as a preference ;)
  • Steinberg saying that personal terms for Onana are not guaranteed, and that Burnley have rejected our opening bid for Cornet.

I think over the next few days we'll continue to see varying degrees of deal done-ness reported.
  • Well I for won’t be getting much sleep then.

Neither will I. Bought a puppy 10 days ago. Nothing like it to ruin your sleep patterns! (Naughty, but love it though)
  • So Onana fee agreed....maybe he'll join

    Some window
    In
    - Scamacca £31mil (+6mil)
    - Onana £33mil (+4mil)
    - Aguerd £30mil
    - Downes £9mil (+3mil)
    - Areola £8mil (+3mil)

    Out
    - Noble, free
    - Yarmo, free
    - Fredericks, free
    - Kral, end of loan
    - Masuaku, loan

We've brought in proper players for fringe ones, and there seem like there is more to follow

What a time to be a hammer
  • Onana ,what's my name?
    Onana, what's my name? 🎶
  • Seems like a very good window so far if he comes in. Although I'm not sure what I'm basing that on as I have no idea if Scamerz and Onanerz are any good.

So not true! Sometimes I even put bait on the hook.😴
