Our transfer window has been good so far. However, I am seriously concerned about our LB situation. Although Masuaku needed to move on for him personally and the team, he was cover for Cresswell. We must have a new LB within the next week or two.

He wasn't really cover for Cresswell, Johnson would definitely have played ahead of Masuaku. I agree we need a LB (a starter, ahead of Cresswell), but loaning out Masuaku doesn't really impact LB cover imo.
I have to disagree that Masuaku was not cover. Johnson has ended up being cover at RB, LB and CB (in a back 3). We absolutely need to replace Masuaku with a proper LB and not a LWB

We needed a proper LB regardless of whether Masuaku stayed or went; the fact that he's gone doesn't really affect anything (at LB) imo.
The thing is Johnson’s only cover if he’s not first choice RB. Whether it was because of Coufal playing with an injury or not, he pushed him for that spot the whole of last season and has been given the number 2 shirt. If to cover LB we need to push Johnson to the left and bring in Coufal, that could be a serious weakening if Coufal plays like most of last season.
We definitely need a left back but I’m quite confident letting Masuaku leave is because they have someone lined up. And if they do, that’s a really good window in my opinion.
I think it's reasonable to think Coufal will be better than he was for the bulk of last season now that his injury has been dealt with, at least until we see otherwise. Johnson needs to bring a big improvement to his crossing to threaten Coufal's place just yet imo.
He was at least an option. We have 3 full-backs 5 days before the first game of the season. Worrying to say the least.
Funny, as our oppnents and current champions Man City technically have only Walker and Cancelo for their full back options yet they are arguably have the best squad in Europe

That's quite amusing given how much Pep has spent on full backs since taking over.

I think we all expected a striker to be signed when we sold Haller, so I won't be holding my breath...
I know what you mean but I do feel this window has been different - there's been a logic to who we've been chasing that wasn't there in the past. Of course, I won't be surprised if I'm wrong, but I'm less worried than when we sold Haller.
The article also mentions Luke Thomas. And French outlets are reporting that Onana has agreed personal terms with West Ham and our next bid could be accepted by Lille.
If over the next few weeks we can bring in Cornet, Onana and Thomas, then we're a RW/ST away from a great window. Even Januzaj on a free would be decent. Throw in Diallo on loan and it's a 10 for me.

Maxwell Cornet extremely attracted by West Ham option. Wants to play in Europe and that will have a big factor on desicion, West Ham offer of £25 million package also biggest.
Newcastle still in race though but looking decent for hammers
Just noticed that Cornet wasn't on the bench against Huddersfield last Friday and checking back he doesn't seem to have appeared in any of Burnley's pre-season friendlies
If we do sign him he might need a few weeks to get fit
I really think Moyes wants to move to a 3 at the back system. Aguerd is a real ball playing centre back, and the apparent. desire to sign another CB before letting Diop go tells me he wants at least 5 centre backs available to him. Then with the links to Kostic and Cornet, it feels like he wants that flexibility of a left wing back / winger.
Which I personally find very exciting. If you get the right wing back in on the left then that side has loads of potential. Also - the height 😍. Imagine Fornals / Bowen putting the corners into Scamacca, Rice, Soucek and three centre halves.
Not wanting to ruin your chips alderz, but there are still a couple of week points there, IMO. And ironically it's on the right side, given how much effort we seem to be putting into fixing the left side of our team.
Johnson is a good defensive full back, but I don't think he's suited to a wing back role. He's basically the antithesis of TAA. If 3-5-2 is the long-term plan, I think we'd need a better option on the right.
And you've also got Vlasic covering Bowen. He was played out of position on the left last season and struggled, so I don't think he'd fair any better on the right. Plus I honestly don't think he's cut out for PL football. He had a couple of decent cameos in pre-season, but just doesn't look to me to be physically or mentally strong enough to succeed in this league.
If we could somehow get Broja on loan (unlikely, but not impossible), then our front line would be seriously good.
Two of Scamacca, Antonio, Broja and Bowen in a front two, or if Moyes went with 4-3-3 he could have Bowen or Antonio/Cornet either side of Scamacca/Broja. The options would be incredible, and with (hopefully) 50+ games this season, everyone would get minutes.
Rumours being reported by GFFN (France) that we’ve had an offer accepted for Onana & we’re hopeful of signing him in time for City. 🤔
Did we not hear that after our last bid?
Won't lie don't know anything about him but he's got to be a a talent if we're spending €40mil on a 20 year old with not THAT much first team football
I think this (potential) signing highlights the difficulty of our current situation.
We want to break the top six and our January bids (Diaz, Nunez, Phillips, Raphinha), if you believe they were genuine, suggest that we're trying to bring in top players to do that, but these players ended up at Liverpool, City and Barca. We were never realistically in with a chance. So what we need to do is find these type of players one move earlier; Onana may not be worth £35m now, but if we don't get him at an affordable price, we run the risk of him becoming a £60m player over the next 12/18 months and he becomes out of our reach.
I would imagine this is a Newman recommendation, and I think we'd be paying for potential more than his current standing in the game. Of course it could go either way; he could become another Patrick Vieira, or he could become another Didier Ndong. But where we're at the moment, these are risks that we have to take to try to identify top class players just before they actually get there.

I know he's been linked with Fulham, but could this suggest a return to Toulouse?

Areola
Coufal Zouma Aguerd Thomas
Onana Fornals Rice
Bowen Scamacca Cornet
Fab
Johnson Dawson Ogbonna/Diallo Cresswell
Downes Lanzini Soucek
Januzaj Antonio Benrahma
He also reminds me of Dominic Cummings.

I think he wants to have a system of like:
GK: Fabianski / Areola
DCR: Zouma / Dawson
DC: New CB / Ogbonna
DCL: Aguerd / Cresswell
WBR: Coufal / Johnson
WBL: New WBL / Johnson
MCR: Soucek / Onana
MCL: Rice / Downes
AM: Fornals / Lanzini / Benrahma
STR: Bowen / Vlasic
STL: Scamacca / Antonio
