I hope the players we are missing out on is because Moyes will only pay what he believes they are worth and not because the club are saying this is all we can afford. I can understand a player preferring Juventus or inter but not Forest and Everton.
I'm going to assume that if Cornet does indeed sign, he'll be a starting LW and, based on alderz's earlier post, cover on the RW. Plus, he can play through the middle.
I did see on Instagram that Aguerd is back at the club and working in the gym; not sure what that means for his return date but it may mean we're less likely to sign a CB. Still think Diallo on loan would be a good move though.
And there are still some rumblings that the Onana deal still isn't yet off, which having tracked him for months would make sense.
I personally still think Cornet will be a signing to play at wingback.
There seem to be suggestions we’ll be after Broja on loan at the end of the window, in which case I think it’ll be a move to 3-5-2, with Broja, Antonio, Scammacca and Bowen the striking options.
Has Cornet played any games or is he another that isn't match fit?
He's missed the last couple I think, reported to be not fit or something similar (almost certainly shielding someone that was dfinitely leaving from injury).
I really hope we don’t go to a back 3. We don’t have proper wing-backs & that won’t change when we sign Cornet.
I like the idea of a back 3, I think it suits a lot of our players. I think we're defensively sound with Zouma, Aguerd and Dawson at the back with Soucek and Rice in the middle. I think it gives Fornals or one of the other AMs the freedom to go where they like. I think Coufal is good going forward and has the energy to get up and down, and then having Cornet / Kostic on the left would give us a huge attacking threat.
And I think Coufal and Cornet are proper wing backs.
Look at Cornet's defensive actions compared to other wingers. He's not an out and out attacking midfielder. This guy is a capable defender.
And look at Coufal's xG polygon compared to Kieran Trippier's (I'm not going to compare to the likes of TAA or Reece James, because they are world class). Trippier is regarded as being one of the better full / wing backs in the league, and his xG / xA stats are really comparable to Coufal.

A lot of reports this evening (presumably meaning there was one report that is being copy and pasted) that Onana wants £100k per week to sign. Everton are apparently willing to pay it, because they are horrendous at business.
Taken from an independent website I came across earlier -
In Amado's case his sister Melisa is one of the three owners of Belgium based Be The Future Management and is the driving force behind the player's outrageous wage demands, she is apparently demanding £135,000 per week which Hammers simply won't pay. Her stance has particularly upset fellow company owner Geoffrey Hoogland who had mediated transfer talks and helped negotiate the massive £35 Million agreed between Lille and West Ham, Hoogland would have pocketed BTFM a minimum of £7.5 Million by taking a commission from BOTH sides as is quite normal now.
New KUMB ITK is saying Onana asked for £150k per week and immediately failed the Moyes personality test as a result. Everton are allegedly offering £80k p/w, so we'll see how that pans out.
He also says, after Cornet, we'll have £20m left in the kitty, plus any outgoings. Moyes wants at least two more, preferably three.
So, if we get the £20m we want for Diop, we could have £40m to spend on three players, plus any loans. Rumours are we've had a bid of £7m for CB Attila Szalai turned down, and will be going in with a second bid soon. So maybe a £10m bid gets him in, with a LB and CM still on the radar.
Be nice, wouldn't it. If we are genuinely in for Szalai then it suggests we're close to letting Diop go. That would leave £30m for a LB and CM. Personally, I'd like to see us spend the bulk on a top quality LB and try for RLC and Broja on loan.
Pleased with the Cornet signing if it comes off one of the few players I have wanted from the beginning of the window.
If its true that we have 20m left to spend i would chuck the lot on a Left Back and if the Diop sale adds more funds then a nice loan deal for a CM with an option attached.

Big ask, but what a squad that would give us.

Think we'll see him mostly on the LW or LWB positions, but he can also play LB, CF and RW
Players like him, as long as you don't have too many jack of all trades but master of none, are great to have when the budget is drying up
