We've made , what seems, some very good signings. Well done alround
We have, but you can make a very strong case for needing at least 3 more.
Firstly, we've still not addressed LB; however much of a servant to the club Cresswell has been he can't be relied on to be our starting LB this season (and neither is Johnson good enough on the left imo).
Secondly, one of the main issues last season was the lack of a good third choice CM to allow some rotation for Rice and Soucek. I know we've added Downes, but the vibe from Moyes was very much that he'll be introduced slowly rather than being the immediate option we needed all last season. Last season the drop off from Rice and Soucek was so great they were flogged to death and their performances suffered; we can't allow that to happen again this season.
Thirdly, given there's a good offer on the table for Diop, who Moyes clearly doesn't rate as he was always our last resort CB last season, and that Ogbonna's recovery is far from complete and Aguerd is out for 2-3 months at least, now is the time to bring in another CB who's an upgrade on Diop and provides some succession planning given both Ogbonna and Dawson are out of contract next summer and they'll be 35 and 33 respectively.
A top quality CF, Italy #9 A top quality CB who is Ogbonnas long term replacement An international keeper who impressed last year A young, hungry CM from the lower league who can take over Nobles impact on the sqaud
And now we get a young winger who can also play as a wing back who impressed in the prem at a poor team
And we aren't done yet
And....with all due respect....got rid of a lot of deadwood (Yarmo, Masuaku, Fredericks & Martin) who have proven that they just weren't good enough
Maybe the best since 15/16 where we got Payet, Antonio, Ogbonna, Obiang and got Lanzini, Moses and Song on loan
Fully agree with Buffy. LB and CM next plus, due to circumstances, a CB too. I’d like to see a loan for the latter and the remaining budget plus Diop money on the other two.
I've mentioned this guy a number of times, seems to tick an awful lot of the same boxes as Onana. He's at a better level now (when we need him) although I think Moyes and Newman were looking at the potentially higher ceiling with the younger Onana.
buffy, How much do you think Sangare would cost? We have been linked with Szalai again who may be a fairly cheap but decent purchase. There are also rumours of Senesi from Feyenoord for £12.6 million? We bid big for Onana so hopefully we can redirect those funds into a player or two. Sell Diop and we can use that money for a new LB. Talking of which just some ideas although most of these are not orthodox left backs? https://www.kumb.com/article.php?id=44366
I think people need to temper their expenditure expectations, personally. It seemed fairly apparent to me that we were after Onana at £33m and Cornet on loan, but when the Onana deal appeared dead we just got Corner sorted for £17.5m. To me, that’s suggests we don’t have masses of money left.

£20m, according to my new favourite ITK. Plus, potentially, another £20m for Diop and Vlasic is rumoured to have a few suitors, too.
Moyes comments earlier suggest we're going to see a few more yet. I think there'll be at least three more through the door before the window closes (LB, CB, CM), and maybe even a fourth if Broja becomes available.
I see Diop was tasked with showing Cornet around today, judging by the behind-the-scenes footage. We need to get him back involved whilst he’s still part of the squad.
He's got a buyout clause of €35m, so about what we agreed for Onana (without the add-ons), but obviously there's a chance we could get him a bit less than that.
Torino are working hard to try and bring Nikola Vlasic to Italy and they’ve reportedly scheduled a meeting with the West Ham forward’s agents. The 24-year-old Croatian had a difficult campaign with the Hammers last season, only making six Premier League starts under David Moyes. He’s keen for a move away this month, wanting to find a club where he’ll receive more consistent minutes As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Torino recently entered the race for Vlasic and they’re incredibly keen to add him to their frontline. The Granata have scheduled a meeting on Monday with the 24-year-old’s agents and they’re hoping to move fast in a bid to beat their competition. Contracted to West Ham until 2026, Vlasic made 36 appearances across all competitions last season, for a total of 1636 minutes. In that time, he scored one goal and provided three assists, struggling to show his best in East London.
I really hope Vlasic stays as I think there is a good player in there. If he were to leave it's another player to be replaced & David Moyes has already stated we need 3/4 so not keen on that number increasing, unless he has his replacement lined up, as we aren't Nottingham Forest who appear to be trying to acquire a whole matchday squad this window.
IronHerb, Say Diop & Vlasic leave does it then make sense to not replace them in an already small squad. IMHO no as it just means we risk having the issues we had last season? As I see it we need the addition of 3/4 players before we factor in anyone leaving?

Seems Cornet is done.
Chelsea vs Fulham
And it’s live!
Anybody got the thread ready!
