c&bsky, If that is the case then we can afford to draw at home to Zagreb and we will win the group BUT there is a long way to go yet.
Looking at our fixtures I see we are scheduled to play three games in 6 days at the end of November, Thursday, Sunday & Tuesday, but Leicester and Tottenham have a extra day & don't play their third fixture until the Wednesday night! Surely won't the Watford match be moved as the whole of the set of midweek games are on Amazon?
Does anyone know how the group stage winners are decided in the case of level points?
Would it be goal difference and then goals scored and then head to head result between the teams or would head to head be considered first?
Too early to say but I can see both ourselves and Zegreb doing the double against the other two. It's so important to win the group or you could end up with not just two extra games to play but that game being against a very good team.
16.01 If two or more teams are equal on points on completion of the group matches, the following criteria are applied in the order given to determine their rankings:
a) higher number of points obtained in the group matches played among the teams in question; b) superior goal difference from the group matches played among the teams in question; c) higher number of goals scored in the group matches played among the teams in question; if, after having applied criteria a) to c), teams still have an equal ranking, criteria a) to c) are reapplied exclusively to the matches between the remaining teams to determine their final rankings. If this procedure does not lead to a decision, criteria e) to k) apply in the order given to the two or more teams still equal; e) superior goal difference in all group matches; f) higher number of goals scored in all group matches; g) higher number of away goals scored in all group matches; h) higher number of wins in all group matches; i) higher number of away wins in all group matches; j) lower disciplinary points total based only on yellow and red cards received by players and team officials in all group matches (red card = 3 points, yellow card = 1 point, expulsion for two yellow cards in one match = 3 points); l) higher club coefficient (see Annex D).
If two or more teams finish on equal points the places are decided by the following...
1) points head-to-head i.e. we've got 3 pts, Zagreb 0pts, they'd need to beat us next time 2) goal difference in games played between the two teams 3) goals scored in games played between the two teams. 4) away goals scored in games played between the two teams 5) goal difference overall 6) goals scored overall 7) away goals scored overall 8) most wins overall 9) higher number of away wins overall 10) lowest number of disciplinary points overall 11) UEFA club co-efficient
I missed commenting on the Zagrab and Vienna matches, but I've been so impressed by how Moyes and his team are negotiating this so far. Resting some players, yet still showing repect and fielding teams to win. So tough at the mo, with so many games in a short space, and our relatively small squad. Both matches I thought were good performances by us.
Qualifying for Europe was such a success for us, so not treating it seriously would have been a real kick in the teeth, but also going the opposite way and it resultantly causing our league form to heavily suffer would also be a real shame.
Super congrats so far to the management team and the players. I hope we can continue in the same vein, give matches to the squad, and finish top of the group!

Apparently if Spurs win the Europa conference (unlikely I know) they get a round of applause from UEFA officials and VIP tickets for the whole team to the Champions league final, Where they get the chance to take penalties against a celebrity goal keeper during half time and an opportunity to have their photos taken with the players.
Thanks for finding that info and organising it for us @IronHerb - superb.
Really interesting to see the full breakdown of reward money for being in / progression in Europa. Plus on top as you say the extra money from bums on seats at the extra home games.
All this potential extra funds, plus of course providing extra games to enable us to keep a larger squad happy; if we can keep getting regular europe qualification it will make such a difference to our side going forward.
I think also the perception of being a team on the up really helps with recruitment, I can't imagine Zouma would now be playing for us had we finished 15th last season. Should we enter the transfer market in January we may be able to attract a decent striker.
Just looking through the tables of all three European competitions now everyone has played three games, Only Bayern Munich and Ajax have made better starts to their campaigns than ourselves.
I think we were very fortunate to draw Dinamo Zagreb from Pot 1 rather than Lyon, Napoli or Bayer Leverkusen who I suspect would have been much tougher opponents.
Pot 2 we got Genk rather than Eintracht Frankfurt, PSV or Lokomotiv Moscow while Pot 3 Galatasary or Legia Warsaw would have been more of a challenge than Rapid Vienna.
Group C, Leicester, Legia, Napoli and Spartak Moscow is close, 3pts between 1st and 4th.

I would love it so much if we played Barcelona. That's the sort of stuff Rice wants to be doing, and I want him to see he can do it with us. And tbh if there is ever a season to play them competitively it's this one.
