I feel angry about this. The powers at be in this country clearly don’t give a hoot about dealing with racism. A £500 fine. After a being filmed and clearly identified. It’s disgusting and is absolutely no deterrent to these utter morons.

Personally, I'm in favour of a 'restorative justice' approach to offences with a racial element. (plus fines + bans, etc, but not that alone)

I’m typically in favour of restorative justice for everything, personally. But the thing that frustrates me is you see the book thrown for some things and not others. It just makes it seem like a non-issue on the eyes of the law

There are a range of penalties for this type of offence going as high as a number of years in prison. I think I think that any sentence has to be proportionate to other offences...not just racially aggravated ones.. but I'm thinking that for this type of offence the usual ameliorating factors like ' first offence' and ' previous good character' should be abolished.

Just thinking aloud, I haven't worked out a fully consistent set of new sentencing guidelines. Yet.
