The Next Transfer Window

  • It would need to be a charter for 35 people(?) and not Easyjet.
  • The thing is, there has not been much to truly debate re Rice because I doubt that since the window has opened, there has even been a single bid for him. So it is all hypothetical.

However I have always thought Chelsea WILL bid for him, but do so very late. They will see a club on its knees (West Ham) and will put their foot on the jugular in the next week I reckon. But I reckon the bid will be no more than £50m and will be designed to “turn his head”. If I were Chelsea, that is what I would do. Yes we could of course say no, but it will definitely then impact Deccers.

There was a widely reported bid for Rice in August; an unspecified amount of cash plus Batshuayi and Barkley but it was rejected. We told Chelsea we want £80m cash, having set the price it would be humiliating for S&G to let him leave for less.

If they'd offered £80m a month ago we could have done something with it but at this point I don't think Moyes would agree to losing Rice with only 9 days until the transfer window closes

Surely there is no chance we will sell Declan this summer. Next summer, maybe. But not now with no signings made. We’ll just tell him he can go next year. He’ll be fine with that.

To be fair, it’s autumn now...
  • ASLEF, what has David Moyes got to do with whether we sell Declan or not he is just the manager. Money talks, & the two Davids like that, shame is that they don't choose to spend much of it.

Do you really think Moyes would stick around if S&G sold Rice without his agreement? They can't afford to lose Moyes as no one else would want the job.
  • Managers will be queuing up for the job, not necessarily any good but no shortage of applicants.

There wouldn’t be a problem finding a manager even if the owners are calamitous. As Watford have proved many a time before. As to whether they are any good is another matter

    Herb beat me to it!
  • I wonder if it is quite a large important for us to get defenders now? After all many others in the league seem to be having problems defending too. Let’s just try and score as many as possible and hope that does the trick
  • ASLEF, the owners aren’t bothered just listen to what Big Sam said during the week.
baracks, a few of the clubs the likes of Fulham & Leeds are doing something about addressing their defensive problems. Meanwhile at the London Stadium, nothing!

With this Chelsea defensive, or lack of, performance the price for Rice has just risen immensely. Making our defence look solid.
  • New keeper following the No save rule
  • Would Deccers want to go there ???
  • New keeper isn’t playing.
  • New keeper isn’t playing.

Ok new keeper happy he is a shoe in next game oops

Dam it I had Dmitri Kharine
  • Someone’s been flicking through the old sticker books
  • so the chavs are bidding low for Rice as West Ham need money according to the press, that would sum up GBS if they accept a low bid
  • A few years back they hoped that moving to the new stadium would demonstrate that we had ambition, they sold a dream. Should they sell Rice it will be the final nail in that coffin. you simply can't claim any ambition if you sell the one champions league quality player you have rather than build around him.
  • Chelsea will make a formal bid of more than £40m for Declan Rice and believe that will be enough to sign the England midfielder, 21 - because West Ham need the money. (Sun on Sunday)

But the Hammers hope to sign Germany defender Antonio Rudiger, 27, on loan from Chelsea. (Sun on Sunday)

ASLEF, the owners aren’t bothered just listen to what Big Sam said during the week.

The only things I've read that Sam said is that S&G try to bully managers into buying players they want, that they will spend if they think a player is value for money but sometimes they listen to bad advice and that they love the West Ham (although that last statement makes me doubt the previous statements).

He didn't say anything about selling players so I'm not sure how any of that is relevant.

The reaction of fans to the lack of transfer activity was bad enough to get Sullivan to speak to the media about it and they've seen the reaction to the Diangana sale not just from the fans but also the players so I'm sure they have a good idea what the reaction to selling Rice would be.

While they might be stupid I don't believe even they are stupid enough to risk losing a manager at this stage of the season unless they've already got someone ready to take over. And I'm sure Moyes made sure his contract is loaded with clauses that would see them take a huge financial hit if they did anything to trigger his departure.
  • I’m not sure (being out of work for the best part of 2 years when he joined us) that Moyes would have been in a strong position to demand all the clauses he wanted for his contract
  • I don't think Moyes holds the cards.

"best part of 2 years" was actually 1 year, 7 months, 13 days and after the way he was treated the first time he was here I don't believe for an instant Moyes would even consider working with S&G again unless he got the contract he wanted

Loftus-Cheek left out of the Chelsea squad again yesterday, didn't even get on the bench against Barnsley in the Cababao cup.
  • West Ham need the money?

If that was Chelsea’s belief, they would have bid ages ago. Given us a matter of days to spend it is hardly going to appeal to us.

But that also makes an opponent weaker, having the money but not being able to spend it on the squad.

Oh well, says the fashionista midget, I'll look after that wedge
  • But chelsea haven't bid though have they?

The only reports I have seen that Chelsea have made bid or are likely to make a bid are from the Sun, Express or Mail.......
  • John stones doesn’t even make the bench today for Man City, and apparently they are about to sign another defender from Benfica.

With the precarious situation we are in, surely getting him even for a short loan until January can’t be a bad thing?
