Officially its "undisclosed fee" but all the reports I've seen reckoned £12m now with up to £6m later.
The 20% sell on clause was added at the last minute but no idea if it was part of the final deal
The Athletic was reporting the payment is spread over the whole deal (and they had quite a number of their reporters on the story), so I'm wondering whether it's even £12m up front.
The only time I think clubs have to front up the entire fee in 1 go is when a release clause is met, as they have to buy our the entirety of the contract
When I hear “up front” I assume that means guaranteed. So, £12m rising to £18m, to me means a guaranteed £12m across the length of the contract, and with a potential additional £6m depending on clauses. I could be wrong, but that would make sense I reckon.

Yeah, that's my understanding. The £12m might still be paid in installments (maybe not over the whole length of the contract, but conceivably over 2 or 3 years) even if it's described as "up front".
In that case, as I understand it, the fee is closer to £18m. Originally it was reported as £12m with clauses but quite a few then said it was a bit higher, though without details on that discrepancy. Maybe they're clauses that are likely to be met.
Some of the club's that could be around us appear to be strengthening their squads. I'd like to see us at least be realistically rumoured with someone, not just low bids going nowhere and then saying " we tried "
I may be the only one....but going through that list I still don't think there are that many deals
WBA and Fulham have only spent money on two players who were with them last year, similar to Soucek for us....they still have mostly Championship squads
Leeds have bought in an expensive striker (who they will be very reliant on hitting the ground running as they don't get many goals) but lost White, arguably their best CB
Brighton haven't really moved for anyone, nor have Burnley (although they aren't at risk of going down)
Wolves have bought someone for the future, and lost a key player in Doherty
Villa have done well, but again lots of pressure on a striker who may or may not deliver the goods
Palace and Sheff United have only made 1 signing each.....although one good signing
Southampton getting KWP is a good move but they lost Hojbjerg who was a key player
So imo, only Everton and Newcastle have really been making big impressive moves

Think you can add Chelsea to the impressive signing list...could get even better if they buy an Asian staple.......
It makes sense what u said and puts things into perspective.....but our transfer business has been....little, I guess if we can hold onto Rice, then it could have been worse.
I tried not to include the "big 6" clubs, because it's impossible to compare us
I am fuming about Diangana, but I still don't see all the doom and gloom that others see, especially in regard to us being weaker or relegation favourites
I don't think we are weaker than last year
If we did sign Tarkowski (for the record I can't for the life of me see it happening) I'd say we have had a better/equal window (as it stands) than any of the clubs I mentioned above except Everton/Newcastle
I think Diop or Rice will be going if we buy Tarkowski as neither Diop or Ogbonna are bench warmers and if Rice stays he can always fill in through injury. My view is Diop is sold and if Tarkowski comes in, but I dont think he will come to be fair and more likely just interest to dampen down the Diangana issue. Makes no sense for him to come to us as its no more than a side ways move.
Burnley have rejected a second bid from West Ham United of £30m for defender James Tarkowski.
The Hammers had a £27million bid for the England international turned down earlier this week but came back within the last 24 hours with an improved offer.
However, the increased bid of £30m still falls way short of Burnley’s asking price which is believed to be in the region of £50m.
Leicester City have also been heavily linked with a move for Tarkowski.
If this Tarkowski chase is serious then I hope they have done the same as Man U with Sancho where they have apparently agreed personal terms and agents fees before beginning the transaction with Dortmund.
Mind I tend to think they haven't done it this way.
Another report says Burnley may accept £35m. So following our current policy, all we need to do is raise extra funds by selling Ben Johnson to one of our PL rivals?
On yesterday's West Ham Way podcast Ex reckons we will try to pay-off Wilshere remaining contract to get him off the wage bill
I don't reckon Tarkowski will want to come, we're hardly a step up from Burnley and it is said he didn't like living away from the north west during his time at Brentford (aka a case of the Eddie Howes?).

Probably out of embarrassment
Mind you he did somehow manage to notch a winner v Spurs I believe

Aren't Atalanta in the champions league this year? If yes, looks unlikely
