  • Gosens does play mostly LWB at Atalanta and for Germany but he played mostly LB for Heracles in the Eredivise (2015-17). He's 6ft so good in the air, likes to get forward and good defensively

Sounds a bit too good for us...
  • Yo-yo I thought you were going to say and has just broken his leg. In other words perfect. =)

Atalanta came third, I think. But the commentators during their PSG game were talking about how their current team was built with replacements bought from selling off their first successful squad of this current period. So maybe they'll sell again and look to profit?

He looks pretty good, almost like a CM in the way he moves. YouTube not very good for judging defenders though.
  • Just get Tarkowski in, simple
  • If he doesn't want to come and ends up coming just because he's doubled his wages it's a no from me.

But if he said he really wants to play at the top level ,champions league etc etc.....
& does join us, that's a bit of a back track, unless the David's have done a scientology thing and completely brainwashed him....Then it's a bit of foot in mouth IMO..

Not saying I wouldn't be happy with his arrival...
  • I would be happy if we get Tarkowski

But still think it's a very risky move given the finances involved

Not convinced that hes going to be the same calibre of player once he is picked out that Burnley defence....similar to Keane
  • He may want to play at the top level, but nobody is going to be bidding for him from the top four.

Moyes needs to be backed & the owners need to do it. Even if Tarkowski is our only summer signing, it would be a statement to Moyes that he has the full support of the board to assemble his squad.

If Moyes wants him, they should do everything possible to sign him.
  • £30 million could buy us several new players from around the world. English players attract top dollar. One new, not keen to join us, centre half or 2 new full backs, a midfielder & a striker? I know where my vote goes.
  • I would question the quality of the 4 players if they cost £30mil together......but I agree with the general concept

A new CB and LB would be enough for me, providing they are good quality (no guarantees in football)
  • WHU, I agree. The point is do we really want to spend all of any money on one player when we are needing a few positions improved.
  • 3 at the back must be the plan
  • 3 lame🦆s money wasted
  • 30 mil for someone who’s not worth 30mill
  • I think it looks like he wants to play a 3-4-3, in which case Tarkowski is a good signing. It also means that both fullback positions are slightly less risky, as our defensively frail fullbacks have a centre back covering.

    Fab
    Diop / Tarkowski / Ogbonna
    Fredericks / Soucek / Rice / Masuaku
    Bowen / Haller / Antonio

    SHANDONG WANT TO SIGN YARMOLENKO

West Ham forward Andriy Yarmolenko is a transfer target for Chinese Super League club Shandong Luneng.

The Hammers need to sell players to generate funds for manager David Moyes to spend on new signings. That could result in Yarmolenko ending his two-year stint with the Premier League club.

The Ukraine international joined West Ham in a £17.5m deal from Borussia Dortmund in July 2018 and has made 33 appearances, scoring seven goals.

Should Yarmolenko switch to Shandong he will link up with former Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini, who joined the club in January 2019.
  • I wonder what the offer is? I still think he has it in him to offer something but no doubt we need money to strengthen elsewhere
  • Considering how much we paid for Yarmolenko initially, his age (31 in October), that he's halfway through his contract and his injury record I doubt if we're going to get much for him.

Somewhere between £5m and £10m? Not a lot to bring in new players.
  • If we get anything like what we paid for him we should be all over this imo.
  • But who will score the winner against Chelsea if we let him go =)

    Cresswell
  • Hes also our highest paid player now (I think) as he apparently makes £110k per week

So if we can get close to £10mil and his wages off I can get behind it
  • At the press conference Moyes said he'd heard nothing about a offer for Yarmolenko so probably just paper talk

Other comments suggest Wilshere is going nowhere and the same for Tarkowski.
  • A day before our first game and we still don't have reinforcements. What a farce. I sure hope Grady's sale wasn't for nothing.
  • Don't get your hopes up Ham

Yeah, it's a bit of a joke really. We finished 16th, spent half the season in a relegation fight, and yet we've somehow managed to start the new season with a weaker squad.

I do think we'll see some new players come in, but it might not be until we've lost out first four games, and quite how good they'll be I don't know.
  • How's it a weaker squad?
  • We have fewer options than we had at the start of last season, do we not? If you include Ngakia, we've lost two right back options. Ajeti and Hugill have gone; rated or otherwise they were a resource that Moyes could have called on up front. Now we have a striker and an injury-prone converted winger. Diangana has gone, who had a recall clause in his loan contract.

We had a thin enough squad as it was, so to lose five players (I'm not including Roberto) can only have made the squad weaker, surely?
  • IronHerb, Why do you think it isn't weaker?
  • It's also arguably weaker because those teams around us have strengthened. Obviously can't be sure about the promoted teams.
