How are Newcastle doing so well with recruitment? they could have a much stronger squad by Saturday - does not bode well for us.

They've signed Hendrick on a free so far.
  • Meanwhile in Kansas City Winston Reid started three games in a row, limped off after 40 minutes of the third game with a groin problem, missed the next game but was fit enough to come off the bench for 13 minutes yesterday days later.
  • Reid + Ogbonna would have been our best pairing at c/b and would have immediately improved us without spending a penny.
  • I think the Fraser and Wilson deals are just about there and there is the lad from Norwich as well if my memory serves me correctly.

Fraser and Wilson, sounds like we're getting a dads army team together
Is it Pike from Norwich .............................. =)
  • Wasn’t there a Pike here too
  • They are both better than what we have got up front IMO
  • Wasn’t there a Pike here too

Geoff Pike. Legend of the Boys of '86. We had Steve Jones, too, a few years later.

    Norwich do have a Godfrey
  • Geoff Pike, midfielder who played for us in late 70's early 80's

At least there seems to still be rumblings of us going for Tarkowski. Maybe just maybe.

Ham, you know better than this. Tarkowski is the latest in a long list of players that get talked about, the 'deal' strung out for weeks before the inevitable 'we tried' line gets trotted out when he joins someone else.
  • I'm trying to be positive about something. I'm really trying.
  • I know people laugh at Phil Jones, but he's a good solid defender and would be a good improvement for us. His issue is that he isn't the sort of defender who is going to play out from the back and is better heading, kicking, and smashing the ball away.
  • Tarkowski is quoted as saying he wants the chance to play champions league / European football. The nearest we're getting to Europe is a booze cruise

We're going to end up signing some hasbeen for big money as we sit bottom of the league. Then wonder why we still haven't improved. Phil Jones on a 80k deal sounds about right just burning money on averageness.
  • The owners have made their own bed over the years and as a result we are now in a sticky spot.

Paying frankly stupid wages to people like Sanchez, Hugill, Yarmo, Ajeti. The list is endless. It’s difficult to see a way out of this situation as a player with decent ability will now only come to us if they are paid danger money

Except of course the likes of Carlos Bacca and maxi Gomez who couldn’t even be tempted by money.

  • Barney, there’s always Mike Basett’s fag pairing Benson And Hedges. =)
  • So the rest of our so called targets are just smoke and mirrors
  • Read a book once called smoke and mirrors ,about a murder in Brighton in the 50s pretty good if i remember, =)

And our owners would probably only go to the Isle of Wight =)

Lots of talk on twitter about Moyes walking on Friday
  • Why is he injured as well bet Pearce kicked him 😂
  • Why would he wait 4 days?
  • Fish and chip Friday in the Wetherspoons
  • Leaving do sorted. :)

    I'm wondered the same
  • Just speculation based on absolutely nothing, but maybe Moyes was angry about Diangana being sold and Sullivan placated him by saying he'd get a replacement, or a defender, in before Friday. If that doesn't happen, Moyes walks maybe.
  • I can't see him leaving.

I hope it's not true . I'm not particularly a Moyes fan but we need stability and I'd like to see him given a fair chance and a bit of money to strengthen. That's the least he deserves
