So that's c.£2.5m a year on an investment of what, £130m plus. Hardly excessive.

Loans from shareholders are listed as £45m as at 31/5/19.
Wasn't it £100m to buy the club?
That would be a capital investment, which is completely different.
Not worried about that. They have invested £145m and taken £2.5m a year.
  • All a bit quiet for rumours for us

Seen some fans saying we are weaker than last year, which I dont personally agree with

We've lost Diangana, Hugill, Ajeti, Zabaleta and Sanchez......Diangana and Hugill technically didnt play a single minute for us

So we've swapped out Zabaleta for Johnson, Sanchez for Cullen and Xande for Ajeti. Imo Johnson and Cullen are upgrades and Ajeti really didnt do anything for us that you cant assume Xande can contribute the same

If you consider that we have Soucek and Bowen from the off, not just for 11 games like last year, I'd say we are marginally better than we were last year

Add a left back and centre back and we can start getting some positivity back

    Sort of argued
    Does Reid count?
I have concerns about the goalkeeper, switches off to much
  • 5 pens. Well done Troy.
  • Nearly all clubs are capital investments these days (unless they trying to legitimize fortunes somehow). It’s not beyond reason to say Gold and to a lesser extent Sullivan are fans, just need to keep in mind they love money 1st and foremost = that’s how they got millions in the first place. I doubt lot of companies would be happy if the CEO started giving away the profits without a clear plan on recuperating them and turning a profit. What Sullivan has is too much Ego without the ability and understanding in football. Liverpool is a perfect example of a capital investment that learnt from mistakes and got very wise and hence becoming profitable.
  • Now being linked to Adam smith of Bournmouth .at this point would take him can play left or right and at 6 mill would fill both holes =)
  • I like Adam Smith. He is definitely a right back who can play left back though
  • I think it is a solid low risk move, even if its underwhelming

He has prem experience, in our price range and versatile
  • I've never heard of him. Therefore I'm pretty Sure he'll be an upgrade on Cresswell.

Are we sure we need someone who's an economist, philosopher and author, and a sweaty to boot even if he does only cost £6m.
All those other qualities/abilities are definitely going to lead to a run-in with Sully. =)
  • Ham are you doing a joke or have you actually not heard of him? He’s got over 100 PL appearances for Bournemouth
  • Adam Smith at 29 fits perfectly into the “young and hungry” bracket - not. Just more piffle from the club and its representatives which isn’t delivered upon.

He will be effective for not really that long IMO before he begins to wane. So not really all that much different to how we have gone about things before.

But having said all of that, recent events have put this club into somewhat of a mini crisis, so it would be amazing if anyone vaguely capable would want to join us at all.

Lol no sorry guilty I've never heard of him. Doesn't really mean much as my football knowledge and memory in general is pretty poor.
  • Sorry barrack but are we allowed to only buy players under 24?
  • Adam Smith could be a shrewd move in a restricted window

Hes 29, not 32/33 so not passed his best

Plus he has played 20+ games every season for the last 5 seasons

That said I'd prefer the 21 year old Bologna player who can play RB and CB

Tbf all the Bournemouth defenders kind of blend into one.

No but when there’s a very limited budget there will be more questions about whether those bought fit what Moyes said he wants, especially when it’s off the sale of a player who seemed to fit the model.

Moyes has made statements about how he thinks the club should be run better as a system. It seems a sensible vision that would be more sustainable than what we’ve been doing with marquee signings in recent years so I think it’s fair to question when any transfer dealings we are having don’t seem to fit that vision.
  • Sheffield United buying two young rated full
backs from Derby for £15 million. That is more in line with DM’s Red Bull project isn’t it?

I thought Red Bull gave you wingers?
  • Lukerz, no we need full backs, CH, CDM & a striker. We have more than enough wingers! 😀
  • What’s the point of saying you will target young and hungry when you actually don’t (well if you exclude the afc Wimbledon cast off who will end up at Luton after a year). More so that you actually sell the young and hungry. The words and the actions could not be more further misaligned

And we can of course trot out the line about waiting till the end of the window, but we all know how that works out at West Ham

Of course the Japanese lad at Bologna would actually be a really positive signing, but that’s not gonna happen, let’s be honest.

I agree, but I've never seen them play and Derby fans arent too bothered

Lowe apparently isnt even their first choice LB, think Bodle is the better prospect but is suspect defensively and has a lot to learn
  • There is a reason for being patient but the club have this ability to really stretch ours to breaking point and then bring a Carlos KIckaball on loan because his agent is a friend of DS.
  • The thing about full backs is there any many who good defensively any more. I think the game’s evolved beyond that type of full back. Wan-Bissaka is the exception.

West Ham will have to almost double their opening bid of £27m to stand any chance of signing Burnley centre-half James Tarkowski, 27. (Sun)

He did an interview yesterday which suggested he's open to moving and wants to play at the highest level.

Which rules us out (if, which I doubt, we were ever in).

  • Such is the state of play at our club, arguably someone like Phil Jones is the best we are likely to achieve.
  • How are Newcastle doing so well with recruitment? they could have a much stronger squad by Saturday - does not bode well for us.
  • At least there seems to still be rumblings of us going for Tarkowski. Maybe just maybe.
