I just can't fathom it. The club bangs on about being The Academy of Football, but when we do produce genuine talent, we always sell them. Lampard, Johnson, Cole, Carrick, Diangana. And we all know Rice will go, next summer if not this.
Ah well, another season of watching Anderson jog around the pitch, failing to take on his man and leaving Cresswell exposed to rampaging wingers for 95 minutes. Still, at least he's good at Instagram.
Speaking for myself, I am now accepting of the fact that we will be far from challenging for anything for quite some time (assuming no good news in 2023). With this in mind, and the ground having been sold, one of the things to hold on to was one of our academy graduates playing regularly for our first team. And he didn’t even want to go.
Add to that, there’s a v high chance that whatever money is raised will be wasted. The Daves are very good at that.
So we sell an unproven kid for £20m and we're dead. Blimey.
Among other reasons, yes, IMO. Moyes has talked about signing hungry young players from the Championship. We actually had one already and yet sold him as soon as a half-decent bid came in.
I thought we were supposed to be progressing as a club? Wasn't that the grand plan? But we've actually regressed since the move and now we're binning off players that we started the summer supposedly targeting.
Very cleverly worded in the OS - the funds will be invested entirely on the first team
Yes, on Haller
"He made six Premier League starts following his senior debut in 2018/19, before heading to The Hawthorns on a season-long loan deal in August 2019 having found himself in competition with the likes of Felipe Anderson, Michail Antonio, Pablo Fornals, Robert Snodgrass and Andriy Yarmolenko for a wide attacking position, with Jarrod Bowen added to that list in January this year."
Bowen, Yarmolenko and Snodgrass are right wingers. Antonio is a striker (when the agenda that we don't need to sign a new striker is pushed, at least). Fornals is a No10 and was only playing on the wing because Anderson was utter toilet.
Diangana would have been starting LW this season, IMO.
It's pathetic. Basically says he has to compete with that lot and is unlikely to be ahead of any of them (even though most don't play in the same position). Yet less than a week ago were posting pictures of him and Bowen and him and Haller together getting ready to set the league alight. They must think we're stupid.
Never in my 62 years did i ever think i would say this ......But i feel a bit sorry for Moyes .We have West ham in our Blood ,But really, moyes comes back for a second helping of this circus .Oh well guess you get what you deserve
Also, I’m incredibly sad at this. We don’t have much to enjoy as West Ham fans at the best of times, but watching an exciting young talent from the academy play and grow is, you’d think, the least they’d allow us.
If it’s Rice and he goes to Chelsea for silly money then you understand it. But £20m gets you very little and we’ve sold him to a team we’ll be fighting relegation with this season, most likely.
The decision to sell Grady has been made reluctantly but – ultimately – in the best interests of the Club and with the aim to strengthen the squad in different areas at this time.
The money received for Grady will be reinvested entirely in the team, in line with the manager’s targets. We believe that this will give us the best possible chance of ensuring we have a balanced squad to compete in the Premier League and capable of reaching our objectives and ambitions this season.
And I completely agree with your last paragraph. Diangana rumoured to be replaced by Benrahma, but the board baulked at the £20m fee. It's then reported that we'll use the money for Tarkowsky, when most fans will know that £20m is nowhere near enough for him.
It's just names being thrown around to try to soften the blow. But even with that there's no logic. Do we want a winger? A centre back? A left back?

After this reaction from other players it makes you wonder who sold Grady - did it have Moyes blessing? I’m as depressed as everyone else, and GSB seem to have disrupted the dressing room. Who’ll be next out?

Rice. 100%. What possible reason does he have to want to stay? Look at what Chelsea are doing in comparison to us. It's so many levels above us. Yes, they have Abramovic, but weren't we told that the top 6 would be looking over their shoulders?
I am ever hopefull that this is all part of a master plan.....a smoke screen and all along our real target has been Ronaldo....... NURSE,NURSE, give Him some more morphine!!

And you throw the towel!
If rice gets sold that is a reason to go to war
