  • ASLEF, Khedira is just our type of signing.

The Times reporting that West Ham are in talks with Jack Wilshere over paying off the final year of his contract or finding him a new club with his salary partly subsidised, to get his £100k weekly wage off the books.

Can't say i didn't call and see this coming.

I have even heard rumours of us signing Sturridge... imagine.... the sticker book collection for most injured players. Featuring Dyer / Carroll / Wilshire....Sturridge

Its actually pathetic that both Owners and Managers are stupid enough to fall for the same con over and over again.
  • I posted this on July 23 on this thread.
That Robinson tackle is up there with the most cynical I have ever seen. If that is typical of his play and character he should be banned from playing forever. I, for one, would never want to see that type of player pull on a West Ham shirt.

Obviously coached in the Roy Keane method of defending. I'm very happy he's gone to Fulham.

Wow. That’s the first time I’ve seen that. How did the ref not see that as a red? Disgusting.
  • I recall Julian inflicted worse tackles than that but things were a bit different back then.

To be fair he didn't dive into the tackle or go studs up, he just went for the ball and missed (by about five yards).
  • It looks a lot worse because of the way the guy fell, IMO

So if we assume money really is tight & we will be lucky to buy anybody unless we raise funds for players who have not performed well for a while...

    Fabianski
    Johnson - Diop - Ogbonna - Cresswell
    Bowen - Rice - Soucek - Diangana
    Antonio - Haller

Where MUST we improve that 11 if that was the side we were going to start against Newcastle with? Where just we find cash regardless of sales?

First 11? Left back. But I consider a striker to challenge quite crucial.

There are more but I'm still going by the opinion that we might not be signing too many this window.
  • It's not bad a team in my view as I feel you can play Bowen up front if needed and we have plenty who could come into midfield for him.

In an ideal world we buy a new full back and a new striker for when Antonio gets injured and a better quality keeper to push Fab. This is not an ideal world however and I cant see these acquisitions unless we offload one or two. To be repeating what's already been said the main business this window is to keep Rice.
  • Honestly, in the situation we are in the only MUST signing is a LB, imo the big hole in our first XI

Am happy to see if Moyes uses the preseason to assess if the younger player can fill gaps in the squad, i.e. Cardoso, Holland, Xande, Coventry, Elese etc

I'm not expecting much at all this window (as I can't see us shifting the higher paid players this year) so if we get in a decent LB like Rico Henry I'd be happy

As i have said before, I am considering Soucek, Bowen, Johnson and Diangana as new signings this year
  • LB absolute priority, IMO. I mean, Bowen and Soucek signing in January means we don't actually need a lot. A LB, CB and a ST. Another midfielder would be nice, but with money so tight I see a LB as a must and the rest are nice-to-haves.

Still don't think a club like West Ham should be in this position though.
  • A striker on loan to compete would be good, tbh. Brewster from Liverpool maybe? Michy Batshuayi!?
  • The Times claim Arsenal have listed 10 players in order to raise funds

"four defenders including Rob Holding and Calum Chambers. They have also transfer-listed four midfielders, including Mattéo Guendouzi, and two forwards’.

Wonder who the other seven are.

OCS, sadly, in the 64 years since my first time at the Boleyn (vs Rotherham), we've always been a club in this position.
  • West Ham United have today announced the signing of Johnny Foreigner from FC Neverflippenheardofhim in the second tier of the Tunisian T League.
Foreigner (38) who can play in a variety of positions arrives on a free transfer and has put pen to paper on a four year contract. Speaking through an interpreter he told the assembled media that it was the culmination of a life long dream to come to England and play for London United.
West Ham chairman David Sullivan who brokered the deal said that the acquisition of Foreigner showed that the club were serious about stepping up to the next level. “Make no mistake, it’s a real feather in our cap to land a 15 cap Papua New Guinea international”said the 3ft 6ins Hammers supremo. “We’re hoping to make further additions to the squad in the coming days with discussions progressing well with Carlos Kickaball and we should get that one over the line in the immediate future”.
Foreigner is believed to be on £150k a week although it may be some time before Hammers fans see him in the famous claret and blue as he’s currently recovering from a double leg amputation.
  • I’ll only believe this when it’s confirmed as a Sky Sports News exclusive!
  • DJ - brilliant, I'm still laughing, especially at that last line
  • FULHAM JOIN EZE CHASE

Fulham have joined the clubs that want to sign Eberechi Eze from QPR.

Crystal Palace, who have had a bid rejected, and West Ham are also interested.
  • I've stopped taking any notice for the time being of any rumours linking us with new players as we don't have the funds to buy them until we sell some of our own & by that time our first choices will have gone elsewhere.
  • Lewis Dunk has signed a 5-year deal with Brighton so I don't think he'll be joining Chelsea any time soon.
  • If there is any possibility in getting Josh King from Bournemouth as a striker i would take it. Think he is a good little player and rate him more than Wilson.

Good player, but way out of our price range unfortunately. I know that's also currently true of every player under contract in the professional game, but King would cost a minimum of £25m and we're getting nowhere near paying that for one player.
  • Rumours yesterday that a couple of Italian teams sniffing around Anderson. If that's true then he needs to go soon so we can use the money to strengthen. Possibly lazy journalism but I'm very 50-50 about him.
  • Reports are Lazio don’t want Anderson back but are keen on Lanzini.
  • That report was from Vincenzo Morabito, a so-called "super agent" who has a pretty awful track record of predicting transfers so don't expect too much

Anderson has been rumoured to be moving back to Italy ever since he was spotted in Rome three weeks ago. He lived there for five years so probably just visiting friends and family.
  • Re Jack Wilshere - West ham have a habit of signing "have beens" from Arsenal. Jack Wilshere is the latest - never fit and past it; Freddie Ljungberg hardly delivered; and I remember a certain John Radford, a centre-forward who played 28 games and did not score. I can't recall another centre-forward who played so many games and did not find the net.

Some Clubs don't sell players whilst they can play. West Ham has long been a resting home for players past their best and are made to look financial fools. Far better to go for something younger and energetic players. At least, they have something to prove and are also likely to have a resale value.
  • Pengeman, that is what David Moyes wishes/intends to do but we have got to find the funds from somewhere to enable him to put his plan into action.
  • Ajeti off the mark for Celtic already.
  • He will score loads of goals this season, as he should. He's a Swiss international who will be generally playing against League 1 opposition. Fill yer boots.
  • Actually Radford played 30 games, along with the 28 1st Div appearances he played Villa away in the FA Cup (we lost 3-0) and Forest away in the League Cup (we lost 5-0).

We sold him to Blackburn Rovers in the 2nd Div where he started scoring again.

Ajeti off the mark for Celtic already.

Its Dundee United, they've only just got promoted having spent four seasons in the 2nd tier.
