I think Duffy would be a really good signing, on loan or otherwise. Brighton selling him isn’t really a reflection of his ability, IMO, the new manager wants his own players and that makes sense.
He’s a classic centre back who is really strong defensively and in the air. He also has played a fair amount in a back three, which Moyes likes to do. We obviously need at least one more centre back, particularly if Balbuena’s future is elsewhere.
Is Shane Duffy any good. I have only seen him play in highlights, but he know he couldn’t get in a Brighton team who were almost relegated last season. Seems a strange one!
Brighton's problem wasn't conceding goals (54, the same as Chelsea), it was scoring goals (39, only four teams with fewer goals).
What is odd is Duffy was voted Brighton's player of the season 2018-19 but after three games he lost his place to Adam Webster who'd joined from Bristol City for £20m in the summer. How the mighty are fallen!
I don't see Duffy as any better than the three CBs we already have whereas Phil Jones or John Stones would be an improvement
If we sold Diop and replaced him with Duffy I would not be happy
Duffy only dropped out because he was considered less technical. Potter wanted Dunk, Webster & Burn as his back 3, which will now probably see Burn replaced by Ben White, coming back from a loan at Leeds.
Burn gave them a natural left-sided option, Dunk is skipper, Webster the modern day ‘ball playing CB’. Duffy was just unlucky that he was schooled to play football around 2005-2010. That said Duffy often did not make the bench, which was odd as Potter basically was happy to change to a back four should one of his 3 CB’s pick up an injury. Bit of a compromise to make, changing the whole gameplan. Maybe more to that than a tactical decision?
However, I would not want Duffy as a CB to replace Diop. If we used him as an upgrade on Balbuena & then replaced Diop if he was sold for a better, young CB, that would be fine. As much as I am unconvinced by Diop, selling a young player who now has two years experiences & in both years has been the first choice CB (wither with Balbuena or Ogbonna) would be slightly unambitious, especially if replacing them with Brighton’s 5th choice CB.
An ITK on Bristol City is reported to have said they aren't interested in Nevin from our coaching team. Maybe Nolan is going to go to Bolton & Pearce will replace him?
On the OS “ West Ham United is pleased to confirm that Stuart Pearce has returned to the Club as a First Team Coach and will work alongside Kevin Nolan and Paul Nevin, who have also signed new contracts after their excellent work in helping to secure the Hammers’ Premier League status last season.
The legendary former Hammers and England international defender will team up with manager David Moyes and Alan Irvine again, having worked with them during his first spell at London Stadium in the 2017/18 season.
West Brom and West Ham have been told that a fee of about £2.7m would be needed to sign Istanbul Basaksehir's Brazilian full-back Junior Caicara, 31. (Birmingham Mail)
So in the examples of other teams being proactive in the market they mention Willian to Arsenal (a free transfer for a top 6 club), Holjberg to Spurs (exactly what we paid for Soucek and a top 4/6 club) and Ramsdale (who hasnt actually moved)
I dont like the board but it's a pop for pops sake, another pointless negative article making out our owners are the only ones who havent spent money in the league
I think we also spoke further back about how there is the element of expectation vs reality in the budgets. We probably didn’t budget for a relegation scrap, and as such have a bit of a black hole. Throw Covid on top and we lose a lot of revenue that we were anticipating.
Sheffield United on the other hand, didn’t go nuts in the window last summer, probably budgeted for a scrap or to go down, and had the sudden influx of TV money. Promoted teams with brains are probably budgeting to go down and lose that TV money after year one too.
I must be honest, I never saw him play. 15 goals isnt a bad return. If he can get regular games elsewhere then good luck. Both parties have to cut their losses

Thank you
Wonder if this is the case?

We are one of nine clubs that have only signed one new player, five teams have two, City have three, Brighton four and Leeds five.
It all seems rather quiet...
NORWICH IN HUGILL TALKS
Norwich City are in talks to sign Jordan Hugill from West Ham.
Hugill scored 15 times on loan at QPR last season. Hugill is valued at about £5m and has two years left on his contract.
West Ham signed him in a £10m deal from Preston North End in January 2018.
Football Insider reporting that a £5m deal is 'close':
