I would keep Anderson and let Lanzini go . They are both 27 and I think Anderson could be real quality again with a decent run in the side to get his confidence, form and fitness back up. He is bigger and stronger than Lanzini and he presses and gets the ball back better. I didn't really think his attitude/motivation was too bad.
Surely Stones on a loan deal is a sensible & realistic option. Euros coming up in 2021, he will want regular game time & will be motivated to impress. There still isn’t a great selection of English CBs so a good season would bring him into Southgate’s thinking. Money is no object to City & he will not play for them. I am sure they will contribute a % towards his wages.
Throw in an option to buy for around £20m. Seems a decent deal.
Rico Henry has been linked with various clubs but Villa might have an advantage as Dean Smith gave Henry his first team debut at Walsall then brought him to Brentford.
Guardian, Daily Mail and Newcastle Chronicle say Hendrick is going to be a Barcode
It’s hard to watch “one of our own” playing for the likes of Chelsea, Man U or ,god forbid, Spurs but I’m afraid it was always the way unless you go back to the Brooking/Bonds era.
Brooking/Bonds era? We were just as bad before that.
We sold Martin Peters to Spurs in 1970, one of the greatest all round players ever to pull on an England shirt. Not only did be become Spurs captain he scored twice against us (and another two for Norwich)
And for the umpteenth time Billy Bonds was not "one of our own", he was 20 when he joined us in May 1967 but before that he had made 100 appearances for Charlton Athletic, making his first team debut against Northampton Town on 20 February 1965.
My point is we were always a "selling" club, even back then. Brooking had offers from Forest and Spurs when we were relegated in 1978 but fortunately Ron Greenwood assured him that his England place would be unaffected if he stayed with West Ham.
John Stones might have more of a future at Manchester City as I understand they were only considering selling him as they thought Eric Garcia was happy to stay but he isn't as he wants to return to Barcelona. I see the thorny subject of having to spend some money has raised it's ugly head yet again. Very few players who are available on transfers are ones that their current clubs actually want to hang on to. David Moyes said he didn't want other teams cast offs. I watch this developing situation over the next month or two.

Stones would probably do okay with us. We don't play out from the back which is where a lot of his errors come from. An obvious link because Moyes signed him (I think?) at Everton, and in theory we have Zaba and Sanchez's wages to subsidise his City wage.
Stones stinks of old transfer mistakes to me. Trying to rescue the career of a once-rated player, potentially on a loan deal that will disrupt our current CB pairing.
A loan with an option to buy makes sense, because I also agree with outcast as this seems like a typical west ham signing that doesnt go normally end well
At least a loan takes some of the risk, and it's no doubt hes talented

I know what you're saying, but I disagree.
His career doesn't need 'rescuing' in the way that Joe Hart or Jack Wilshere did. He still played 24 games last season and got 2 England caps last year.
Personally, I am not concerned about disrupting our CB pairing as they haven't ever looked truly convincing, and Ogbonna will need to replaced eventually.
I guess that's fair but I'm still skeptical. What I meant about breaking up a CB pairing is with a loan that might not work out. You could end up with Ogbonna put out because we're desperate to see if Stones works out but at the end of the day he returns to Man City. I accept it's not exactly like previous signings but it's expensive, comes with greater risks than buying a fresher talent and I assume he'll not offer much sell-on value.
Stones made 24 appearances by 9 of those were off the bench and he only made 12 Premier League starts, he was third (or even fourth) choice behind Otamendi and Fernandinho (who was preferred at CB despite mostly being a DM).
With Otamendi supposedly off to Valencia and Garcia wanting to go back to Barcelona things might look a little better but he's still competing for a place with Fernandinho, Laporte and Ake.
If the twitter report of EX is correct it's very bad news in my view regard Rice. If stating 70m plus they have confirmed he is for sale and not placed a prohibitive price upon his head to deter. They could have said It would have to be 100m which does place him into the for sale bracket as each player is but makes the price prohibitive.
My hope is that Chelsea have more than one big target and go for someone else as i cant see them making two transfers at that price. Unfortunately Rice is exactly what they need in my view so they may go for him.
A bit of a choker for them in the Pogba mould to have had a player on your books and let him go only to have to pay top price to get him back again.
I have always stuck my neck out regard Rice and am happy to do so, I genuinely feel he will be England Captain and as good as Bobby Moore.
The £70m price tag was being reported back in April, before that Man U were supposed to be preparing a £70m bid last October (by November it was £80m) and back in February 2019 it was speculated that Man City would offer £70m in the summer.
For once......PLEASE LORD!!!! For once IF we sell a class player, then let us get a true valuation for them and not let them go under valued. He is class and with the right coaching and future progression can become a world class game controller from the back. He should not only be valued on what he currently is but on what he can become. Just think how good he will become over the next 10 years or so

West Ham forward Albian Ajeti has now completed his medical at Celtic.
An initial loan move with an option to buy for £5m has been agreed, but the Hoops are now trying to make it an immediate permanent transfer.
Youth career:
Chelsea: 2006-2014
West Ham: 2014-2015
Senior career:
West Ham: 2015-
I reckon he counts as one of ours.
BTW Deanscaleshammer, your handle is an anagram of "Declans a hammer" (plus an extra e and s)
Declan Rice will remain a West Ham player unless Chelsea come in with an offer in excess of £70m. The deal could then happen.
Rico Henry is West Ham’s number 1 LB target.
CB is a priority position; with John Stones, Phil Jones & Shane Duffy under consideration.
Eberechi Eze is a priority transfer target & the player is interested in a move to West Ham.
West Ham have enquired into Jeff Hendrick, who is a free agent.
Ollie Watkins is out of West Ham’s price range.
David Moyes is no longer interested in Matty Cash.
Rumours of a new contract for Michail Antonio are false.
Back-up options to Stones, Jones and Duffy are Steve Cook (relegated with Bournemouth) or Craig Dawson (relegated with Watford).
Another midfield target is Lundstram of Sheff Utd, who is also free.
There was definitely a theme to the podcast...

Maybe his full name is Declan £70m Rice...
