ASLEF, If half the Premier league teams have already done some sort of business it hasn't been a very quiet start to the window! Ramsdale £18.5 million to Sheffield United & on smaller crowds? Until we get some new investment we are always going to struggle to be really competitive.
So to clarify which part of half the Premier League teams have done some sort of business (value not mentioned) is incorrect & we do need some serious investment to be competitive unless Mr Moyes can turn some of the under performer players into world class performers during the close season which will be welcome? Do we not need a new full back, centre half & midfielder?
Sheffield having smaller crowds would probably mean they've made less of a loss there anyway. And 9th is probably higher than they would've budgeted for, so on balance they might not have been as badly hit.
Outcast, there will probably be contributors on this forum who will have differing opinions on how they want the club run, I know I don't want a Leeds befalling us with overstretching, but having followed West Ham for 50 years plus IMHO we are well overdue to actually make a fist of being really competitive & win something. GSB don't have the finances to show the intent that can be achieved. I even offered to sell my soul to the devil the other season to make this a reality!
"And few people on here can’t wait to sell rice." Really? Care to name them?
I feel offended, I am one step from a permanent ban , so we have , there is rice wanting to leave , coz his mates else where, fact ? We should all stick together, one clear Voice “ decker is Going to play West Ham shirt”
Image, I don't understand why you should feel offended. You've made a statement that is completely at odds with what I've read and interpreted from other posters regarding selling Rice and I've simply challenged it.
Playing Devils advocate, I think people are saying how much Rice is worth and that without incoming money there'll be no massive signings. I don't think anyone actually wants him to go. He should be our backbone, our rock, it's just commercially and realistically he's our cash cowl. I want him to stay, it's whether the powers that be see he's valuable worth as a chance to strengthen the squad overall.
He is a player who we all think is top 4 quality, arguably the type of player who should retire with several titles and cups to his name....something that baring some miracle he wont get if he spends the next 10 years with us
The chances are very likely that he will leave at some point. If that does happen, then the club will have to try and get the best deal, and if that is having him stay for another year ot 2 (or more) then getting £70/80mil, 4 times our record transfer sale then it's a good deal for all parties
How the above can be translated as, I really want us to sell Rice is beyond me
I agree i don't think any West Ham fan wants to see him sold I think there are two views of the two points in question.
When do we need sell him? some may feel he is too good to even keep now and if he wants to go let him go. My own view is he should be kept as his contract has four years left which means you can feasibly keep him for two and still realise a good deal of the money you could now. So it's let him go if he wants or insist he stays?
How much should we get? Again two views I would say its 90m plus add ons and that 60m-70m is undervalued, but some feel that would be reasonable.
So I think we as supporters differ regard these things but I don't feel anyone is happy to see him go.
One other potential issue is I really like him and if he went to Chelsea I would find myself wanting him do well which means wanting Chelsea do well and I am not sure that sits well. I always loved Scottie Parker as well and now I am cheering on Fulham which was unheard of in the Al Fayed days. I do draw the line however and if he went to Spurs I would have no trouble hoping he retired without a trophy to his name.
The problem is we shouldn't have to even entertain the idea that he might leave for pastures new because we should be competing for a European spot and fulfilling his and the ambitions set when we left UP.
Unfortunately we are so far away that selling Rice will not make a difference because we are so far off being a team able enough to compete for a European spot.
Southampton have revived their interest in Celtic midfielder Olivier Ntcham, but Everton and West Ham are also interested in the 24-year-old Frenchman. (90Min)
Chelsea are inching closer to a deal to sign long-term target and England left-back Ben Chilwell, 23, from Leicester, who are holding out for £80m. (Independent)
Chelsea are also closing in on a £40m move for another defender capped by England - Brighton captain Lewis Dunk, 28. (Sun on Sunday)
West Ham are holding out for a fee in excess of £80m for England midfielder Declan Rice, 21, who is a Chelsea target. (Talksport)
All from today’s gossip column. Let’s not forget Havertz and Oblak for £190m combined...
He is an upgrade over Balbuena who really was awful last year
28 so we get a few years at a good level, relatively cheap to get a centre back with premier league experience and the premier league experience itself
Not very glamorous but a very useful 3rd choice CB. A bit James Collins esq
And equally, do we really want a CB that isn't deemed good enough for Brighton?
I don't really like the idea of loans, particularly for players that are known, unless there's an option to buy. Taking Stones for example, knowing that we're unlikely to sign him permanently, only means that we'll be in the same situation of needing a CB next summer.
Bubbles, I was responding to Lukerz who wrote - What incentive is there for Brighton to give a rival club a player & gain no financial advantage for doing that?
Yeah maybe us using him for a year does benefit Brighton? We will probs contribute to his wages, possibly half, he’s probs not on a massive wage anyway.

Chelsea
Spurs
City
Leeds
Fulham (same spend)
So 2 clubs just coming up and 3 of the top 6 clubs
There really hasnt been a lot of movement
Keeping rice is key,, losing rice could be the difference between going down or staying up.
And few people on here can’t wait to sell rice

I don't want him to leave but reality is that he'd probably be delighted if he went to back Chelsea.
I don't see what good "one clear voice" will do, I don't imagine Declan looks at WHU606

Lots of noise.
Ex also says he has a ‘transfer update’ today.

Also some interest in Anderson from Lazio and Arsenal.
On Monday C&H said that Lazio and Napoli had turned down Anderson for £27m, reckoned we might have to drop to £20m to find a buyer.

They may as well just keep him as a 5th choice CB. He’s hardly going to be on huge wages.
