  • Lukerz,

I guess my point is that to me we can't lose on the deal. £2m should be pocket change for the 18th richest club in the world, so even if he doesn't turn out to be the player people think he is, then we've hardly lost anything. It would be a very low-risk move, IMO.

I've seen this 18th richest club in the world being thrown about

We have the 18th highest revenue in the world, revenue that is excluding player sales

That does not count for the following:
    - Our outgoings e.g. wages
    - Our net spend, which is about -£100mil over the last 2 years
    - Fees still to be paid to clubs (transfer debt)
    - The wealth of our owners

The club posted a loss last year due to recruitment, and the noise was that we were going to post a loss pre-covid for this year as well...which will only get worse

I know we are talking about £2mil here, but if they don't have £2mil there then they can't use it

Personally I've seen nothing to indicate we actually bid for Robinson, despite Moyes seeing him play live.

Maybe he didn't think he was good enough, or maybe he just prefers Manning who we've also been linked with....and if he's a bargain then why is no one else bidding, especially Milan who wanted him in Jan

Or he doesn't want to commit £2mil when we have 2 left backs still on the books and doesn't want to rush

To me he sounded like a shrewd piece of business, but as Lukerz said I can't get angry as I had never even heard of him before we were linked

  • Which just furthers the case that the owners do not have the Capital at all to move this club forward.

It sounds like Moyes wants Manning (or possibly just another LB, maybe Henry). I think people have assumed we are interested in Robinson (I know Ex suggested we were), but he may have been on a shortlist of 3 or 4 LB’s & could have been 3rd or 4th preference. If Manning is our number 1 choice, & we get him, then we have not lost out on Robinson.
  • & people may feel £2m is nothing. But £2m could be the difference between getting another target or not. It may be small change in the context of PL football revenue, but you’d rather still have it in the bank than needlessly spend it.
  • Alderz, you think he'd believe he'd walk in ahead of Rice? Soucek possibly, but even he has become a key player already.

I actually think a lot of players have accepted Chelsea's bench because of their salary and the lifestyle in London it affords.
  • Rice - Lundstrum
    Bowen - Soucek - Antonio
    Haller

Yeah I could see him playing with Rice & Soucek, with Soucek given license to get into the box when we go forward. Would also be an option at CB. Next to Ogbonna if Diop was not convincing.

But who is bidding for us?

Just as we can't sell players who no one has bid for, the Daves can't sell the club unless there are parties interested in buying us

I think he would think he could roll with Rice and Soucek, yes. Maybe not walk in, but yeah I think he would probably back himself to get into our midfield. I also think that, if we did want to sign him, it's likely the club would say to him that there are no nailed on starters, that we play people on merit only.

And on your point about Chelsea's money and location, according to an article in the Mirror last year (yeah, I know, but all papers are terrible for salaries) Lundstram is on £9k per week. I would suggest that West Ham would likely pay at the very least treble that salary, and he would have the London lifestyle with us too.
  • If AC Milan were interested then it's a good sign that he's a decent player

What was the name of that player who flopped with us (albeit with an injury) and where Real Madrid surprised everyone by signing him from us? LeTGV, I remember him being called.
I don't see interest by a big club as a pedigree, after all, of he were that good they would pull out all stops to get him.

    Julien Faubert?

    I loved Faubert.
  • Didn't Robinson fail his medical with Milan with a dodgy knee?

    Welcome......

Antonee Robinson reveals his £10m January move from Wigan to AC Milan collapsed due to an 'irregularity with his heart rhythm' as he prepares to undergo procedure later this month

    That was from March

That point was in reference to you saying about players backing themselves to get into a teams and Chelsea's bench. I know we could offer Lundstram more money and the London life, but I do wonder whether that is more important to some players motivations for joining certain clubs than actually believing they're good enough to get into the team.

i 100% believe there are people wanting to buy West Ham but zero point in doing it because of the agreement in place re: the London stadium and the Daves not being able to sell up until 2023 without suffering a financial penalty in doing so. I would wager a very large bet that come 2025 we will be under different ownership.
  • QPR & West Ham are in talks over another loan deal for striker Jordan Hugill.

    What's the source for this?
  • West London Sport I think

    Caught it on Twitter
  • Sky reporting that WBA are in advanced talks with Shane Duffy, who has been linked with us.
  • Excuse the pun but most of this doesn't add up. We are stating we have no money so will be unable to make any expensive purchases unless we sell Declan or can find a team to buy Anderson or Lanzini but are letting some decent acquistions join other clubs. Duffy going to WBA possibly for a lot more money than Brighton paid for Veltman from Ajaz, who we could have gone for. Manning & Henry are valued at a higher price than Robinson? Hopefully someone knows what they are doing.
  • The Northern Echo say that Bournemouth want £30m for Callum Wilson (apparently Newcastle are interested)
  • AJETI IN GLASGOW

West Ham striker Albian Ajeti is in Glasgow to complete his loan move to Celtic.

The Swiss international and his agent are finalising terms with the Scottish champions and he is due to undergo a medical in the next 24 hours.

The move was in jeopardy two weeks ago, when Ajeti asked for more time to consider his options.

But Sky Sports News understands Neil Lennon’s intervention saved the deal.
  • Robinson has had other injury issues out for 6 months with ankle and 6 months with knee plus his heart issues it’s the reason we are not interested last thing we need is another sick note
  • There was me thinking ,That could be the reason we should be interested =)
  • The defence needs to be where the money goes. We have a plethora of attacking players & whilst it would be nice to freshen that up, we need to increase our clean sheet tally.

    Spot on
    Shipping in the goals
    Keeping rice is key
Sell rice and that tells me you have no ambition to progress,
Lol the Dave’s need step it up a gear ,, cup run. Europe and so on
  • Okay this is just a theory but...

Chelsea have put loads of players on the transfer list

They offered two players plus cash for Rice which we have rejected

If they can't sell players then maybe Chelsea are just as reliant on selling players first as we are and with Sarri no longer at Juventus they aren't going to cash in on Jorginho

I'm starting to believe that Rice will still be in Claret and Blue next season because Chelsea can't afford him
  • Tbf I was never worried Rice would leave this summer

    Next summer however.....

Wild rumour on Twitter this morning:

Someone's dad who is holidaying with Huddersfield's chairman has said that the chairman has heard that Rice has already agreed terms with Chelsea (via his agent) and it's now just a matter of West Ham and Chelsea agreeing a fee.

Same thing happened with Phillip Billing, apparently; he'd agreed personal terms with Bournemouth 8 weeks before the move from Huddersfield happened.
