There's no evidence that Rice wants to leave but I imagine Chelsea would be a dream move. It's his boyhood club, Mason Mount is his best mate and he'll have a much better chance of playing in Europe/winning trophies.

    Odd

He may not want to ask for a transfer but if Chelsea make an offer that is in line with our valuation for him & we were to turn it down I am pretty sure his agent would start to get involved thereby unsettling Declan? Everyone unfortunately for us has their price so if an offer comes in and David Moyes is given the majority to reinvest on some proper signings and not just ones that an agent who happens to be a friend of one of the owners can facilitate a deal on for us then we may have to accept it.
  • We'd all love him to stay for many years and be the foundation stone we build around and improve with. Realistically the like a of Mark Noble ( for example ) of staying with one club, are fewer and fewer and we'd be nieve to think Rice will hang around too long unless there's a Leicester like turnaround in the club's fortunes
  • I mean he's better than us

He's only 21 so I think he would stay for another year, but he's the type of player who should be competing for trophies, something realistically he is never going to get with us

It's on us to get a deal that maxes his value, no different to Maguire, Mahrez, Van Dijk, Lukaku, stones etc

If we are offered around £70mil I assume that we would be likely to do a deal

Again I hope we can keep him for one more season given his age, then we can make sure we aren't getting a lowball COVID discount value for him
  • Agree
The bonds , brooking and nobles , are few and far between.
    Lol where is your hope

You are a rice fan or his agent?

A lot of the meejah say that he'd love to go back to the chavs, but in all honesty I'm not sure that I would want to go back to a previous employer who has in effect said "go away because you are not good enough for us".

Maybe, just maybe, Declan feels the same ..... please please pleasey please
  • Dec is only 21. I don’t see any reason why we can’t have him for another couple of years. 23 & he would still have over a decade left of his career.

If Chelsea want him now, it’s over £80m. As people have said, he won’t kick off, he owes his career to us & does not strike me as the sort to down tools.
  • If he does go better get cash ,Dont want any of there rejects

  • I want to see Fornals do stuff like this next season

I don't know how they're the same player.

With Rice, I think selling for a massive fee and rebuilding is exactly what we're going to have to do, as painful as it is. But there's some basic stuff that needs to be done first. We need to make sure we're spending it effectively (and Soucek and Bowen are the only two 100% hits recently, arguably Diop as well) and identifying the next player to buy and sell on for a big fee. There's no point in it being a one-off thing.

In the current conditions, I don't think we're ready to sell him.

And if he wants to play with Mount, he should wait to see whether Mount is playing regularly after Chelsea make all these attacking signings.

Very few. Bonzo played three seasons at Charlton before he joined us

A piece of good news. The rumours were that Jorginho was going to Juventus to play under Sarri again and the money would be put towards buying Rice as his replacement.

Sarri got sacked cos Juventus got knocked out of the Champions League yesterday.

    The headline from that link:
Chelsea target Declan Rice keen on Blues move

Has anybody heard, read, seen anywhere that says that this is true?
Has he come out and said "I'm keen on a move to Chelsea"?

I think he will be keen on it, but i also think if we tell him no way at this point he will accept it and still give his best. he knows he is young and not in a rush. He looks like he enjoys playing and it would not be in his nature or even possible to down tools.

I notice two things that make him worth even more than just his ability, the first is he looks like he just loves to play football and the second he is so robust, he plays in a very combative position but I cant recall him even picking up a niggle.

IIRC, he once said that he would love to play along side his mate Mason Mount, which in meejah terms translates to him really saying "I want to play for the chavs".
  • Expat, or maybe it's a little hint that West Ham ought to make a bid for MM. =)

  • Arsenal have joined the race to sign Marseille midfielder Morgan Sanson, with Tottenham and West Ham also interested in the 25-year-old Frenchman. (Le10 Sport, via Sunday Express)

Sanson is the new Inkoom. Linked every single window.

    Eidur Gudjohnsson?
    Per Mertesacker?
  • I think he actually made the comment when Mount was called into the England squad and there was a chance they’d both play.

I was just thinking that myself =)
  • If we really have to sell Rice then Billy Gilmour must be part of the deal.
  • He's had one good name and then smashed his knee so that he has had to have surgery.
    Not fot me.
  • I'm watching that clip of Fornals over and over - totally mesmerising.
I'm going cross-eyed trying to see how he does it. =)
To think we were gob-smacked the first time we saw the "Cruyff turn".
  • Palace, Southampton, Leicester, WBA & Newcastle all want West Ham winger Grady Diangana.
