We got done on the counter so many times last season & that was because once we were pushing & lost the ball, it only took them to get behind Rice & it was often the oppo vs our CB’s. Somebody who can get back in that transition is what we need.
I agree that that's what we need, and I think Lobotka fits that particular bill. Certainly more than Fornals, who seems to be much more similar to Lanzini, Anderson and Wilshere.
If he still thinks that, and with Reid back to add competition (provided he can recover fully from his injury layoff and it seems as though the boss thinks he can) there's another perfectly good CB.
Well the rumours around Maripan have died away recently so maybe you're right. A fully fit Reid, Diop, Balbuena and Ogbonna would be just fine, but I have serious doubts that Reid will come back the player that he was (if at all)
The Guardian has linked us with Stuttgart's 19yo CB Ozan Kabak who was awarded the Bundesliga "Rookie Der Saison 2018/19". Stuttgart were relegated, he has a £13.2m release clause but Bayern Munich and other Bundesliga sides are interested.
Maybe we could offer them Oxford on loan as a sweetener (he seems to like Germany).
I think Issac Hayden will be the DM he wants to come back to London for personal reasons and would add legs to our midfield a big(if) we got him Gomez and Fornals Iwith a couple of loans we could be on for an exciting season. We will probably end up with Shelvey, re signing AC and a traditional south American players no one has heard of
I really don't see why we need Fornals, we've got plenty of options for LW/AM/RW already. If we're offloading Sanchez and Obiang then we need CM/DMs so I can see the logic behind signing Hayden.
It may not necessarily be the type of player I thought we'd be targeting (for reasons aslef suggested).....but this is surely an exciting signing if it's true
Technically gifted Spaniard who is available for a fairly affordable price (what else can £24mil yet you these days)
He is only 23 and get get better, plus his versatility (can play as a CM, AM and a winger) suits pellegrini who hasn't quite settled on his favoured formation and likes roaming players (see how he used Isco, Silva, Nasri, Navas etc)
Guillem Balague on Fornals :- On Fornals (who might be confirmed as a new @WestHamUtd player soon, around £24m). Brilliant signing, 23yo. In the mould of a FCB midfielder, genius in the pass, drives the ball with quality. Big gaps in concentration without ball but can be added to his game. Winning mentality

Unless of course that was a genuine mis-spelling being as n and m are next to each other.
I thought this was from two years ago at first
