  • Why should Karren Brady get a say on who the next manager will be?

She's a member of the board.

The cynics among us could speculate that Sully will claim Fonseca is too inexperienced, that Emery can't speak enough English, that Benitez and Pellegrini asked for too much money. The 'Big Name' he wanted was impossible to get.

If the reasons for the board's doubts about these 'high-calibre' managers are true, then reading between the lines they want an experienced, low-salaried British manager who is ideally not contracted to someone else.

    ;hmm

  • Brady shouldn’t be trusted with the colour scheme of the stadium seats let alone have a say about the new manager vile woman
  • Poch’s English was very limited when he arrived at Southampton - didn’t seem to get in the way of his success there and beyond

Not as limited as it seems. He spoke English with the players/within the club - but used a translator for 'public' speaking with the press.

A condition of his getting the job at Spurs was that he had to do it all in English.

Sky reporting tonight that we will make a move for Rafa. He has a £6m release clause in his contract.
    http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11685/11375392/west-ham-set-to-move-for-newcastle-boss-rafael-benitez

Sky say he has remained on good terms with Sullivan even after that last minute approach from Real Madrid after he'd all but agreed to replace Sam as our manager back in 2015.

Now that would be full marks to the Dave's. He'd be my No.1 choice.
  • I agree, he'd be a very positive appointment and the right move

But I won't believe it till he's here

£6 mil just to relieve him of his current contract is already a big commitment from the daves let alone the budget he'd want and wages he'd ask for
  • There was a split amongst board members regarding the decision of letting go Moyes. David Gold wanted him to stay, whilst also Brady backed him. However, Sullivan followed the opinion of the majority of West Ham supporters.

  • So the majority of 54,000 said no to Moyes?
  • Just looking at the betting as can (not always) be a decent indication as these companies are risking money by pricing it up. Pelegrini fav followed by Forsecca but the anomaly is Rafa as Ladbrokes are 6-1 but Hills 6-4 which is a massive difference, and would indicate one or the other is either very confident in their inside info of one has received a lumpy bet causing them to shorten significantly.

FYI Russel Brand is 1000-1 if anyone s interested, along with Ray Winston
  • In amongst all of this, I would guess that little pea is not too displeased at the news that Moyes has left..
  • And probably ac as well barracks

  • So Sullivan probably looked at some fans forum and decided to bin Moyes ? If that's how he is going to run things its not wonder we end up in such a mess. I just hope Rafa thinks he owes us something after last time and joins up and Dave put his hand in his pocket to fund things
  • We could swap Hugill for Rafa?

    ;yercoat
  • I’d like laschelles the centre back with him, but regular in our pub in derby who knows the family where he was born are saying he’s interesting Chelsea
  • However, Sullivan followed the opinion of the majority of West Ham supporters.

    If true... ;doh ;doh

    On so many levels.
  • The 'customer' is always right! ;wink
  • Sullivan got rejected by Moyes and he just doesn't want to admit it.

We are linking ourselves to lots of decent managers but unfortunately I see us ending up with Martin O'Neill or the like

And will 'they' be right when they don't want the new appointee (both now or, inevitably, later)?
  • Last season Emery spent €222m to bring Neymar from Barcelona to PSG, does anyone seriously believe he's going to join a club that couldn't meet Sporting's £36m asking price for Carvahlo?
  • For me this is their last chance to put things right, put up or shut up, they have talked the talk now walk the walk end of
  • And when two customers disagree, which one of them is then right?

No, Moyes looked at West Ham, said he didn't like the way the board discussed anything and everything with the media and told the board he'd only stay if they stopped. He also wanted the board to stop meddling in transfers and had a few things to say about the training facilities.

Gold was okay with it, Sullivan wasn't and Moyes walked away.

Sullivan is now using the fans as an excuse.

NB this what I imagine to be the situation and may or may not bear any resemblance to reality

    I am

    ;wahoo
  • http://www.claretandhugh.info/hammers-set-new-boss-deadline-date/

So should all be sorted by next week nothing to worry about move along please ;wahoo
  • So does that mean if the deadline comes and goes without a new manager being in place we will move forward without one and Sully will add the one thing he so far hasn't tried to do and that is coach the team.

    Fair enough.

Just so long as we know. ;wink

He won`t be coaching the team, he`s a specialist remember. Hart was the best keeper he`s ever worked with.

I'm more concerned that Jo Brand is only 500/1 ;nonono
