  • A fantasy maybe but the guy who is leaving PSG could be an option.

He may want to prove himself in England and I don't think he has done such a job at PSG that the top 6 would want him...

Think we were after him before Bilic took over and he turned us down
  • Cuz, did we... Forgot that.

Was that the summer we also tried to sign Messi and Ronaldo...
  • Lol yes think was a few we were after and got Bilic as about 4th choice if I remember right
  • If they are going to get a step up they are going to have to underwrite signings of £60-£70m excluding anything generated from sales IMO. Any manager worth their salt would want this formally agreed before joining us.

It won’t happen because the daves don’t have that level of financial muscle.
  • Decanio job done
  • "I couldn't work even one day with a man like David Sullivan"

  • barracks,
That probably sums it up in a nutshell......so Moyes out, Gold,Sullivan and Brady too....
  • Sorry if old news but ex reporting on twitter that Carroll was told he could leave training and lots of other issues. One being, Moyes hasn’t spoken to Collins about his contract situation. Players not happy it seems.
  • Rubbish. Collins himself has stated and Moyes has reiterated umpteen times that there will be no contract talks until we know what league we will be in. There are several players involved.
  • In which case Moyes hasn't spoken to Collins.
  • Even if thay did speak it would go something like this
    Moyes
    ¥€$% {<$¥£ cu
    Ginge
    “2%## yuk dia
    Baroness Brady
    Off with his head
    Dave
    We making big signings
    Dave
    Anyone seen my head

    ;hmm
  • I am so tired of winning.
  • So sorry, wrong thread, in fact it is totally the wrong chat room ;wink

I still think Marco Silva would be a fantastic appointment. Don't be put off by the fact Hull went down and his sacking at Watford.

He came so close to keeping Hull in the league, but for a disappointing last 3 games of the season. You only have to look at where Hull are now in the Championship to know it wasn't exactly a good squad.

He had Watford playing excellent football and they got off to their best ever PL start before falling away slightly. Again, their form since his sacking suggests that's a problem with the club, they tend to fall away once they look like survival is likely.

He's out of work, so will appeal in that sense. Would be brave but I think would be worth it.

But, again, it comes down to the club infrastructure. You get it right at board level and on the player recruitment side, it doesn't really matter who you have coaching the players, as long as they have a reasonable level of qualification to do the job. All managers are only as good as their tools.
  • "All managers are only as good as their tools."

But good managers improve the 'tools' they work with.
  • Silva relegated one club and was well on his way to relegating a second.

Yeah, maybe they did play good football, until they didn't. Hull played exciting football all the way into the Championship, and Watford were going exactly the same way when he was sacked.

Can't understand why we'd want him if we want to not be in a relegation fight next season.
  • a great manager would buy a decent set of tools then not have to worry about them breaking down and also having a better quality of final product.

Well we wanted Moyes after his disastrous recent record with Sunderland.

Silva took Hull from certain relegation to almost surviving, and then left Watford in mid-table. Two tiny clubs in terms of the PL. You can spin it as negative achievements or positive depending on your view. I think he is a very talented manager, but obviously can't prove that hypothetically.
  • So you want to make the same mistake again? I don't.

    They go to Screwfix?

Over the last few weeks Marco Silva has been touted as the next manager at Everton, Leeds, Ipswich, Arsenal, Merthyr Tydfil.....

How much must Big Sam be looking forward to coming here last game of the season? The irony if we need to win to stay up. I bet he can't wait!
  • I can name a manager who puts teams in better positions than when he found them, oh yes forget we hounded him out to do it again elsewhere again

cuz - well according to that manager, he wanted to leave on expiration of his contact.

That's looking at it very positively. I'd say he took Hull from likely relegated to relegated, and had Watford on a horrendous slide of form destined for the bottom three.

A bit like Howe, I think he's given a better ride than he deserves, maybe because he's young and a bit of a character and his teams allegedly play good football on the way.

I think our club is in a bit of a mess and we need somebody to pull us all together. Managers who have found themselves in constant relegation battles won't be able to lift us out of one, in my opinion, as our squad is limited and I'm not convinced anybody is going to have much money to spend.

We need a massively positive appointment to lift the spirits of the fanbase, IMO.

But all that said and done, personally (and unhappily) I think the board will keep Moyes should we stay up, even if we stay up on GD.

Maybe partly because of fan reaction to him though lukerz I’d say we wouldn’t be fighting relegation year in year out, probably have bedded us in better at the new stadium then move on but the David’s wanted to much to soon champagne thorts lemonade cash flow
  • The managerial appointment for next year is more important than
any individual signing IMO. Our owners got it right when appointing Sam and getting Nolan as captain at that time. The Moyes appointment is proving to be a poor choice.

Pity Mancini has just been appointed Italy coach
  • Nolan's doing pretty well with Notts County...
  • Sean Dyche?

    Sean Dyche?

See my comments on Eddie Howe; why on earth would Dyche want to leave Burnley for West Ham when they are about to qualify for their first European football since 1967?
  • I'd like Rodgers. Surely he will want to return to the PL at some point. What more is there to do at Celtic? Most of Celtic's recent managers leave after 2 or 3 years. He's probably going to win consecutive trebles and they're never going to win the Champions League, so you think he'd want a new challenge soon.

I hate the way he talks about football sometimes, as if he invented it, but I think he could be very positive for us as a club with the possession-based style he likes to play. Also think he's somebody who could do well on a limited budget.
