Depends how you define 'game changer'.

If a player could come in and stop the opposition waltzing through our back line at will, that would be a significant change, imo.
  • Yeh, our defence has been our biggest problem. If hart, zab and supposedly carvalho can't help make that better, then we may aswell all pack up and go home.
  • 22 points lost from winning position last season.....
  • We may also be looking at a creative AM:

Mirror has us competing with Newcastle to sign Brentford's AM Jota: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/west-ham-newcastle-set-transfer-10966599

And this report says we're asking about Bologna's Taider: http://www.football-italia.net/107962/watford-and-west-ham-eye-taider

Meanwhile Liverpool say Coutinho "definitively" not for sale (BBC).

I've got my train ticket booked, case zipped up and am just wondering when my lift to the station is going to turn up.

Can't see noble playing if we sign him ;hmm

    Good

I know it will upset some, but we need to stop being sentimental and playing him just because he's a local lad.

On another note Jota looks promising, Midfielder scoring 12 in 21 games.

  • BREAKING: West Ham have agreed personal terms with William Carvalho. Clubs just need to agree a fee now.

  • Meanwhile Liverpool say Coutinho "definitively" not for sale (BBC).

BBC now reporting on Sky rumours that he's handed in a transfer request.
  • Well we'll see how definitively he is not for sale now! Must have been a hard decision for lil Phil.
  • Personally I'd like to see Nobes playing a few games without a double hernia before I write him off. Anybody who thinks it would not have made a difference to his performances last year is not to be taken seriously IMO.

Think noble will still be a good squad player and his injury obviously affected him last year but I think he will struggle to get into the team ( if we sign carvallho) and I don't want to see him being in a Kevin Nolan type situation where he is playing based on past reputation. He has been an outstanding servant to the club but I think he is now in decline and lacks the pace and tackling ability to be a top defensive midfielder and not creative enough for a centre midfielder imo
  • That Language is normally used when in dispute... ;hmm

Bilic on Lanzini "No player is bigger than the club. He knows his contract situation & we will do everything possible to sort him out."
  • ;nonono

    What's going on with Lanzini?
  • "Couple of hurdles to jump yet"

So his having his medical already.... ;yercoat

Maybe they're going to have him run in the 110m hurdles final as a fitness test....
  • That Language is normally used when in dispute... ;hmm

Bilic on Lanzini "No player is bigger than the club. He knows his contract situation & we will do everything possible to sort him out."

Just for others who might have felt a little wound up by the above comment: here is Bilic's presser snippet on Lanzini: http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11685/10983648/west-ham-boss-slaven-bilic-insists-manuel-lanzini-is-happy-at-the-club

Doesn't seem to be anything to worry about - just saying they are trying to sort out his new contract to recognise his importance to the club.
  • While the window is open and rumours are swirling, the press will always ask those sorts of questions in the pre-match pressers.
  • But don't forget

    ;quaver Everybody loves Lanzini
Cos he plays the West Ham way ;quaver

    Dear Phil

Just tell your club you refuse to play for them any more

It worked a treat for me

    Regards

  • Dear Phil,

Count your blessings a club earlier this Summer had a Centre Half joining them before they had even made an offer for him. You wouldn't be party to anything like that would you? ;wink

    It's great
    My boss always says
Well done you have work had few take days off
But boss , am doing my bit for the ebitda,, " "google ebitda"
I am a company man ;lol
  • Stay where you are image, the doctors are on the way.
  • I'm glad Coutinho has handed in a request after the way Liverpool went after van Dijk
  • Was talking with a Liverpool fan yesterday.

"I hope we don't sell him as Barcelona think they can get anyone even if he just signed a contract"

I didn't point out th irony of that comment...
  • So what we have, and I'm sure it starts far, far further back still but:

Barcelona/Fans moan how PSG act to make their player move,
as Liverpool/Fans moan how Barcelona act to make their player move,
as Southampton/Fans moan how Liverpool act to make their player move.
    etc.

It's almost as if they all think it's Okay to use your 'bigger club' muscle to teams lower than you, but when a club higher/has more financial muscle than you does it to them...

    Hypocrites, pure and simple.
  • And Brentford fans moan about how we act ;lol
  • I live with a Charlton fan, every time I moan about something West Ham related it sets him off...
  • I live with a Charlton fan, every time I moan about something West Ham related it sets him off...

Foreign correspondent types tend to like rugby and tennis so the only one I really talk football with is a Brentford fan. He was fuming about Hogan and sent me a colourful text when we apparently bid £3m for Jota (they want £8m!)
  • £8m? Do they think he's Neymar? ;lol
  • No, they think he's Neymar's toenail. ;wink

Was looking for Jota highlights. Found this match, in which he scores a good goal. Then I noticed a familiar chest losing the ball for Forest. Only Antonio! Then our hero scores a wonder-goal with his "weak" foot as some consolation. So a nice couple of mins of highlights for hammers fans:
