Meanwhile, how is the big one progressing, you might be asking?
I mean our reported attempt to sign William Carvalho.
Well one report has it that he is due to have a medical on Monday or Tuesday. Apparently we've agreed wages of 55k per week with him. And have offered €30m + €10m in add-ons. Sporting want €40m straight out. Not clear how he could be having a medical before we've agreed a fee, but fingers crossed we manage to come to an agreement.
Some reports are suggesting the reason he was left out of Sporting's match is because of the potential move. The manager has apparently also said this was because he's suspended for the CL qualifier, so he wanted to play someone in the league that could replace Carvalho in the qualifier. A likely story... ;pray
Very few transfers are paid up in full at the time of the deal. They are usually paid over the length of the first contract so say £40m for a 5 year deal would be paid at £8m a year for 5 years.
Yes, what I meant is that I think they want €40m as a guaranteed fee not dependent on anything, whereas we want 10m of it dependent on performance etc.
Diario de Noticias apparently reporting that although Carvalho had reached a verbal agreement to join West Ham he had his fingers crossed behind his back when he made the promise.
I'll post a link to the story when I find it although it will probably all be in Portuguese.
I really think we need a winger after carvalho... feel as though Ayew isn't a winger... which leaves us with Antonio, Arnie and snodgrass ( who should be on his way out too) so we literally have two wingers... not enough for a season imo
Under the proposals, Premier League sides would not be able to add to their squads once the season begins.
However, clubs from other European leagues could sign players from England in line with their own domestic deadlines.
Does anyone else think that's a daft idea? If a club got a good offer for a player from a big club like Real Madrid then they'd either have to accept it and not be able to replace the player or reject it and possibly have a player in a Payet-like sulk until the January transfer window.
I don't think we need other European Leagues to follow suit. Or alternatively we could stop playing football in the middle of the cricket season, start the EPL later and make all the dates fit.

Reminds me a bit of Yossi, with the skills and the hair.

As a winger, I think Ayew is best on the left. Otherwise, he's more of a roaming supporting striker.

If we get carvalho ;pray i think that could be it for this transfer window.
You couldn't extend the PL season either as this would clash with Internationals.
