All for letting our young prospects getting a loan away to help their development but why do we keep sending them to Wigan, they are one of the least popular teams we should be helping after the way they acted over Carlos Tevez!
Have to agree Fortune that I'm slightly uneasy about our loaning relationship with Wigan (Reece Burke is there currently too). However I do also feel it's a 'nose to spite the face' situation, as I want our youngsters to be loaned out, play, and improve, and if Wigan are the only ones offering...
I went last night (free for ST holders) and it was a really good night out: the standard of the teams was good, some nice goals+play and seeing the OS in a different/interesting way- a different area, smaller crowd, etc, etc than normal- I'm normally in 243 but last night was pitch side in 112.
Declan Rice was impeccable at CB and the best player out there, Josh Pask alongside him was good, though he needs to fill out his frame a bit. Makasi very tidy in CM. Knoyle had some really good moments at RB. Holland was exciting and linked up well with grady diangana who played the number 10 role. Overall it was good performance and they all did well on a much bigger pitch + occasion. ;thumbsup ;scarf ;thumbsup
;ok IMO it's been a complete waste of what could have been a real learning / playing opportunity in a tough league.... Wonder if we can recall him, I'd sooner he be around our own squad if he's never gonna play or on make subs bench for them..
This is my basic problem with most loan deals. Any reasonably competitive team does not see a loan player as key to their lineup but more as a backup, especially when they're young. They don't care about giving him experience and they certainly don't want to risk their own chances with an untested player.
I think a failed loan doesn't prove anything because it seems to me that most loans do fail.
Particularly a team in form and in with a shout at promotion. Why would they disrupt the team? He would have been better going to a League One team and getting games, like what Cullen has done at Bradford.
Outcast, ;thumbsup I prefer any youth player go to the right club, not necessarily the biggest or most attractive to aid their development. Burke and Cullen are really good examples of the right kind of moves for them to do their apprenticeships- which IMO is what it should be about- going out and learning your craft and the industry. Conversely, some have been misjudged such as Marcus Browne at Wigan, who then went onto sign something like 10 players on transfer deadline day which obviously reduces his opportunities.

Good to see if he can step up his competition but a little annoying he seems to be moving to a team low in confidence
Him and Martinez had such a good understanding might be worth seeing if Wigan will take him as well
We must have some sort of agreement with them then?

Westley particularly impressed with Nathan Holland, the kid we got form Everton:

Arnautovic-Bojan-Shaqiri
-------Bony
Tbf, that was kind of sexy, but Bojan has gone. I would have no problems watching that front 6 every week.

That's Arseanl game he looked like another Rio.
Does he suffer from boofs are too big syndrome....
But your point stands. I'm surprised he's not played more, TBH
