  • I think we're all missing Carlton too....

Reid always comes across like that. I've seen lots of interviews and he is always extremely downbeat.

    #littleglum
  • I thought Reid was less downbeat in that interview ... but it annoyed me that the questions were really statements from the interviewer that Reidy really just had to agree with ...
  • Motty was the one and only ;bowdown

    Tex

That's what I was referring to a dozen posts back ;ok

    Drives me nuts!
  • Mrs G - you and I could do better than that!
  • Tex, my students could do better than that!

So the backroom set-up is almost complete.

    Manager: Slaven Bilic
    Assistant manager: Nikola Jurcevic
    First team coach: Edin Terzic
    Coaching assistant: Julian Dicks
    Fitness coach: Miljenko Rak
    Goalkeeping coach: Chris Woods

With the exception of an attacking coach.
  • i thought John Hartson was attacking coach
  • A little underwhelmed by Dicks's appointment if I'm honest.

    I'm not... it's a great idea.

Dick's applied for a coaching job a number of years ago but didn't get the job as his IT skills were poor.

This time it's ALL about the football.
  • With the passion that Dicks and Bilic display, I think those hoping Noble might be dropped will be disappointed. I think he's going to be a conduit on the pitch for that fire. I'm quite happy with the appointment.
  • In the Legends Evenings I have been to with JD he is very critical of the squad...
  • Well I hope Dicks doesn't go near Cresswell.

Cresswell has shown himself to be a committed none yellow card Magnate, who trains and conducts himself well on and off the pitch.

Also I don't fancy him joining Liverpool after another good season.

I also hope Dicks now realises the story that he loves to tell that he never liked or needed to train should be put to bed....
  • Hope dicks has a word with Downing about hiding in games and pulling out of every tackle.
  • Dicks ran a pub called the Shepherd & Dog, just outside Colchester, when I lived up that way. My then-girlfriend worked there at the time. I went in there more to see him than I did her.

Not sure why that relationship ended... ;hmm

He always spoke very highly of the club though. Good appointment ;ok
  • Well he seems qualified, having coached the ladies side. Knows the club, speaks English, which may help if there are ny communication issues to start with.

Has often bad-mouthed the owners though. ;hmm
  • Dicks is my favorite player of all time (that I have watched play). So glad to have him back at the club.
  • Think its great. The bloke seems to really care about the club imo

    Very happy with dicks involved.

Who hoped Noble would be dropped?

Petty sure that Dicks admitted he didn't like running......not that he didn't think training wasn't needed. Bonds used to love getting them to run......

    ;ok
  • only downside is WHU Ladies lose a great manager ;weep

  • Who hoped Noble would be dropped?
Don't remember, but wouldn't call people out if I did. I've see it a few times here and more frequently not on this forum, comments on articles and facebook.
Eski, its not a point of hoping Noble will be dropped, its a case of Mark and afew others upping their performances to warrant a starting place,if they fail to produce the performances expected of them and with the additions we have made and possibly more to come,Mark and others will find themselves on the bench,if you play well you stay in the team,if not,you will find yourself on the bench and that's how it should be,SIMPLES.
64, I absolutely agree with you. Every player is droppable, I 100% agree with that. Noble was awful the end of the season, just like everyone else. There were some people saying he should be dropped even when he was playing well though. Some people saying that we'll never progress with him in the side. I don't agree with that last bit in particular. Everyone praises Nolan for his off-field work, but from what I see, Noble does just as much.
  • If the reported numbers for the game are correct then Bilic will be there. He knows full well how to get the supporters on his side. He has said all the right things so far.
He will be there and acknowledge the support against what on paper is an easy game, midweek, with is essence will be the second/third string players.
  • If he doesn't show...

    Sam OUT!

He is my all time favourite too. And I still remember a tabloid headline after one barnstorming display v Chelsea - "The Crown Jules"

However, for some reason I am ;hmm about this appointment. Just not sure.
Heart on the sleeve passion, aggression and commitment as a player doesn't automatically lead to similar success in a coaching capacity - eg PDC, Roy Keane
