  • Reckon its a sell out because its European football, in our last season at the Boleyn, plus a chance to hopefully see us score a few goals and dominate a game (which hasnt happened since at least December)
I would hazard a guess that 5-10K decided to go, in advance because they "thought" Slaven The Beard Bilic would be leading/managing the team.

I would imagine that the club will parade him before the game though.

    ;ok
  • I

I though I'd have a fag in one hand a ;beer in the other and I'm going to do a lot of cussing...

No other club I can think of would appoint a manager several weeks before their first game, and then for him not be in the dugout come kick off time. It matters not that it's an Andorran pub side and that the side will contain many of the U21s. Very strange to say the least
  • Westley says it's very much Slav's first game too. They have been in communication regarding the team etc.

Again what a completely bizarre thing to say!!

Bilic is the manager, no-one else - the one who has "been there and done it in the major leagues" - this has now become a topic of conversation amongst fans which it really shouldn't have been.
  • David Gold: "The West Ham way is not lumping it. We want to see the West Ham way again"

    ;hmm
  • Leave it!
    But, but, but...
  • Hopefully this will put baracks mind at rest: -

West Ham United Academy manager Terry Westley confirmed that new manager Slaven Bilic will take the Hammers pre-match team talk ahead of the Europa League tie with FC Lusitans on Thursday evening.

Westley has been working closely with the matchday squad which comprises a mixture of first team regulars and Development Squad Academy graduates such as Lewis Page and Reece Oxford.

In Wednesday’s pre-match press conference, Westley explained: “The team is all set up. We did all our work in Cork with the manager. With Diafra Sakho and Mauro Zarate up front and Morgan Amalfitano and Matt Jarvis on the wings, we pretty much have four forwards. It gives some indication to our attacking intent.

“We don’t need a huge team talk before the game because the work has been done. The players are ready. We’ll have to get here a bit earlier due to the huge number of people that are coming. We’ll have a pre-match meeting with the manager then the players will do the job.”

    ;ok
  • It would seem to me that some supporters are getting their pants in a wad for no reason.

It's like they can't find anything to be miffed off about so they are making stuff up*.

  • And on this occasion they met to have dinner to patch things up .... Then had a massive fight because they both insisted on picking up the tab .... Trust me - you had to be there! ;whistle
  • Thanks Vorse & Mike

Surely though that's not your place to judge what people should/ shouldn't get "miffed" about? This episode, I would suspect has annoyed more than one person.

(I'm talking about the Slav not being in the dugout bit, and assume you were referring to that too)
  • How many minutes before they sing his name?

    ;hmm

  • Nah Barracks

It is the place of every fan to call out those who get miffed over the trivia.

    All IMHO of course.

    But I could be wrong.

    But I doubt it.

Well I've read your comment again, and I found it to be a pretty insulting way of dismissing a point of view that doesn't agree with yours. And in particular placing the word "supporters" in italics

I view it as post which creates confrontation and I thought that sort of thing was discouraged on this site.

I'm sure if someone like Twist had posted something like that he'd have been jumped over immediately.

I'll leave it in the hands of any of the other mods who might be online now that I have made my point.

    baracks

    There are two separate issues.

We are asking everyone to be careful about how they 'talk' to other users, but we have a different standard for issues outside the board.

So, calling someone on here a 'muppet' (by name or implication) would not be OK, but calling someone on Twitter or another forum the same would be fine.

It doesn't seem to me that what Suze has said is a specific dig at anyone here on the forum. If someone feels that it is, they are free to say, and I'm sure Suze would be happy to clarify.

    ;ok

I personally think that putting the word "supporters" in italics was not called for. And then saying people not being able
to find stuff to get miffed about, etc??

All very OTT when something along the lines of "cannot see what all the fuss is about" would have delivered the same message without the barbed side comments..
