January Transfer speculation, (it will be here before you know it)

  • Current German international, must be worth £10m
  • Some bloke at Talksport started a rumour that JWP is off to Everton and loads of other sites have picked up on it although all the speculation seems to be based on something Moyes said in an interview back in September 2023

He's still being inked with Southampton simply because that's where he played before he joined us despite Southampton being in the Championship and couldn't afford his wages
  • So he's off to Barcelona then =)
  • Or to Exeter. Would be a good move for both parties.
  • Ex says we’re interested in Adama Traore, Everton DM/CM James Garner and England U21 CB Charlie Cresswell (Toulouse, ex-Leeds)
  • I’d take the first one if we could get the second two (though it is funny that Nuno would be so anti-JWP if he wants Garner)
  • Being reported that Nuno is looking to upgrade on Kilman.

    Max Bygraves?

That Lopetgui so monumentally messed up the centre back position with Kilman and Tobido has been the main source of our woes in my view. Either would have been ok as back up third choice and possibly even second choice alongside a Zouma type player, but as a pairing they have cost us dearly. I think we would be lucky to get half the money he shelled out for them if selling them now.

Yeah, the best part of £75m for a CB pairing that is a complete non-starter.

  • Add Fulkrug into that and you have 100m spent to make us worse as a team. The club can be criticised on certain levels, but they backed Lopetgui in the transfer market and it was a disaster. Lopetguis appointment has been the catalyst for our decline in my view.

Fullkrug was definitely down to Steidten, he tried to get Moyes to take him the previous summer. I think Steidten was also responsible for Todibo, so although J-Lo had us completely overpay for Kilman, I'm not sure how much blame he should take for the other 2.
  • Todibo is a decent player. Had a very good game on Saturday.
  • I didn't see the first half on Saturday and only today saw MOTD highlights. The one glaring thing for me was how easily Kilman got turned inside out trying to defend on the edge of the box, and I thought to myself just how bad is he.
    £40m - what a joke!
  • The thing with Kilman that’s so disappointing is that he looked really good in his first few months, and then dropped off a cliff and now he just looks shot.
  • Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg tweets we want to move Fullkrug in January on a transfer or a loan with an obligation to buy but no offers yet

C&H reckons are valuation is a lot more than any interested club is willing to pay

C&H link us with 24yo Canadian CF Promise David of Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise, reported to be available for £17m but also wanted by Leeds and Brighton
  • According to Tuttosport, West Ham are interested in Santiago Giminez.
Not the Santiago Giminez who is currently forward for AC Milan!?
Yes, the Santiago Giminez who has scored one goal this season.

I don't know what's going on with him this season, but the last 2 seasons (one and a half seasons for Feyenoord before moving to Italy in the winter transfer window) he's been pretty good, even scoring 5 in 14 in Serie A with 2 assists (and in only 670 minutes according to TM, so less than 8 full matches) in the second half of last season.

Only 24, tbh I'd much prefer him to Fullkrug.
  • Me too, although if I were him, I'd use being linked with West Ham as extra motivation -surely the striker community sees a move to West Ham as the kiss of death!

Apparently, Luke Shaw might be on the move after some poor performances for Man Utd. He's slow, has a history of injury, and is in his 30's. I reckon we're five years away from signing him as an attacker.

Tbh I was keen on signing him 18 months ago when we actually signed Fullkrug, he'd just had a cracking season for Feyenoord at that point and, tbh, I'm a bit surprised he didn't move that summer. He scored 26 in 41 matches that season (23/4).
  • Reported that Conor Gallagher is looking to get away from Athletico Madrid for around £25m - if we do move Paqueta on, I would be all over that.

    Thoughts……

The main thing we’re lacking is energy, and if there’s one thing Gallagher has it’s that. A quartet of Potts, Gallagher, Magassa and Fernandes as midfield options feels like a good set of options.
  • Looks like Neymar won't be coming in January, as has been rumoured.

  • I wonder who we will end up signing and when?

He would have been a perfect fit - on the physios bench.
  • Lummey

Harvey Elliot has not flown to Basel with the Villa squad and Emery has said he won't be signing him on a permanent basis (Villa have an obligation to buy if he plays ten times but he's only played five)

He made one appearance for Liverpool back in August so I don't think he can go on loan to another Premier League club this season

On the other hand Salah could leave in January so there might be a vacancy...
  • Yep. You can't play for 3 teams in one season.
  • Not sure about this fella these days. Idk whether Tutto Sul Canale Italiano can be trusted as a source, but he seems to just be doing news aggregation.
