  • Why do we never go for a midfielder who can just carry the ball and drive forward a bit?

Though I do think Dewsbury Hall is better on the ball than JWP is.
  • Big Mo Diame

We could have gone for Fofana when he was still at Monaco after he bossed Arsenal's midfield in a friendly but the Scottish one didn't want him as he preferred McTominay!

  • JWP just got an assist for Forest's 3rd.

Apparently PSG and Barcelona are looking at Jhon Duran. What a missed opportunity!

    In other news....
West Ham striker Niclas Fullkrug is also a January target for Juventus, with the Italian club keen to bring the 31-year-old Germany international in on loan. (Calciomercato - in Italian).

If that happens without 2 notable replacements coming in, Steidten needs to be fired immediately.
  • I've only just realised that we're playing on Monday 3rd February, the day the window closes. We've had this problem already fairly recently, haven't we? Bearing in mind our transfer window doesn't usually open until 30th January, I can't help thinking someone is not doing us any favours with the fixture calendar.

I think it was just last season we were playing on the evening the winter window closed, 1st February against Bournemouth. Someone is stitching us up.

It happened last season - we drew 1-1 with Bournemouth at the London Stadium. It also happened in 2021 and 2017.

Didn't it open on 1st January?

I was suggesting that we aren't as pro-active at getting needed players in quickly, hence reference to our transfer window.

  • Why would we sanction a loan deal when we need a pot of 💴 for the new manager to use?
  • I reckon a move might be made for Tariq Lamptey.
Potter ⚡️ has signed him before.
His contract expires in the summer so could be got for less.
And he can cover both FB roles.
I expect Cresswell to leave in the summer and reckon Coufal could too.
    #WelcomeTariq 🧙‍♂️
  • It will be really interesting to see how Potter wants us to set up. I get that he is known for being quite flexible, but one of the systems most commonly associated with him is 3-box-3 (apparently, this is stuff I've learned so far this week); it is 3 centre backs, 4 central midfielders creating the "box" (primarily 2 defensive midfielders and 2 attacking midfielders) and a front 3 comprising a CF and 2 wide players. Said wide players are expected to provide width both going forwards and defensively, but could be either wingers (such as Trossard or Mitoma) expected to cover back, or more defensive minded players encouraged to get forward.

Whether Potter will try to get this system to work with our existing players will be interesting, as it leaves you asking if, for instance, Bowen/Kudus will be expected to play what is effectively a wing back role on the right.

Btw, Lamptey is a real shorty only 5'4", although I guess this is less of an issue with a back 3.
  • Frankfurt want Fullkrug has Marmoush replacement
Eintracht Frankfurt are closely monitoring Niclas Fullkrug's situation at West Ham, according to Sky Germany.
The striker is on their shortlist in the event Omar Marmoush leaves for Man City.
Sky Italy have been reporting this month that Juventus have an interest in the Germany international.
Fullkrug has had a difficult start to life at West Ham after joining from Borussia Dortmund in the summer.
  • West Ham have been offered the opportunity to sign 24-year-old Canada and Lille forward Jonathan David. (GiveMeSport), external
  • Everything I’ve read says Potter plays 3-4-2-1 with two attacking midfielders playing behind the striker and wing backs providing the width

If Lamptey came here he would be AWB’s backup
  • I agree 👍🏻
But in the summer, potentially 2 FB’s will leave. And he can cover both sides. And imo is better than Cresswell and Coufal.

It's conceivable that AWB will be played as a RCB of a three. He's very good 1 v 1 so would be able to cope if he got pulled out wide, and, let's not forget, Potter doesn't always play 3 CBs when he plays 3 at the back; Cucurella has played in a back 3 under Potter.
  • LOANS
I’ve finally got to the bottom of this subject. Prem clubs can have 4 loans from other Prem clubs during the season but nonmore than 2 at any one time. Prem clubs can have upto 6 overseas loans at any one time.
So 10 loans in a season but only 8 at any one time.
(Sorry for anyone who already knew this.)

So you were telling me porkies previously?

  • Erm, yes. 😬

Well, only half the story 😀
  • New West Ham boss Graham Potter is interested in signing 26-year-old English midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and England full-back Ben Chilwell, 28, from former club Chelsea. (Teamtalk)
  • It would be great if we could somehow persuade Rashford to come on loan, imo
  • We could tell him that if he does well and then wants to leave he could go to Forest. 😂
  • https://sportwitness.co.uk/west-ham-man-keeping-a-eye-on-future-potter-arrival-could-change-future-plans/

Forgot about him, still OUR player..Would Potter see him as an improvement on Mavro ?
Would Potter see something J Lo didn't...could him improve him as a player....

I'm not saying he's our answer to stop letting in a shed load of goals, but......
  • Same could be said about JWP as well 🏌🏼
All I could find was it is a straight loan agreement (no obligations). Not sure if he can be recalled or not 🤷‍♂️
And tbh would he want to with Forest’s 🌳 current position 🤪
