  • A tough chance put down by Root in the slips as Phillips gets another life.
  • Carse takes the final wicket, NZ all out for 348.

Crawley goes lbw for a duck, England 9-1. Was maybe a touch harsh, was barely clipping the leg stump.
  • Bethell goes for just 10 on his debut, caught behind, 43-2.
  • And now Root, perhaps unlucky to have to go in as Bethell has gone in the last over before lunch, goes for a duck in the same over. 45-3 at lunch.
  • Duckett goes for a scrappy 46, a poor shot sees him caught towards the boundary, 71-4.
  • An unbeaten stand of 103 between Brook and Pope, in admittedly easier conditions than in the morning session, has taken England to 174-4 at tea.

Pope goes for 77 to a superb one handed catch in the gully, England are 222-5. You could say NZ were due a catch, they've dropped 4 so far.
  • Ton up for Harry Brook, 101 off 123 balls. Has been put down 3 times, 2 tough chances but one that really should have been taken.
  • Brook remains unbeaten on 132 at the close of play, with England only 29 runs behind on 319-5, a great recovery from 71-4. He was gifted another life in the last hour though (making 4 in total), as was Stokes, making 6 drops in total; very generous hosts.
  • Investigations are under way into Brook's eligibility to play for England; given he's been dropped again this evening there are suggestions that, with this many lives, he is definitely part cat.
  • Brook finally goes for 171, England are 381-6, a lead of 33. A fantastic recovery from 71-4.
  • Woakes goes second ball for 1, 382-7.
  • Atkinson goes for a quickfire 48 off just 36 balls, England 445-8, a lead of 97.
  • 459-8 at lunch, a lead of 111. Stokes unbeaten on 78, 140 runs in the session at a touch over 6 runs an over.
  • Stokes goes for 80, 485-9 a lead of 137.
  • 499 all out, a lead of 151 on first innings.

An early wicket for Woakes, in just the 3rd over, caught in the slips by Brook. NZ 3-1.
  • A super low catch by Atkinson gives Carse a wicket, NZ 23-2.
  • NZ reach 62-2 at tea, trailing by 89 runs.
  • Carse gets another just after tea, Bethell taking the catch out towards the boundary, NZ 64-3.
  • Woakes gets the big wicket of Kane Williamson, who goes, curtesy of an onfield lbw decision as it was umpire's call on impact when reviewed.

Then Blundell is given caught behind next ball; he reviews it but there's a definite edge. NZ 133-5, still 18 runs behind, and Woakes is on a hat-trick.
  • Another umpire's call goes England's way, as it was given onfield. Carse gets the lbw decision, and NZ are 153-6, leading by just 2 runs.
  • NZ 155-6 at close of play, leading by just 4 runs with only 4 wickets remaining.
  • Carse gets the first wicket of the day to take his tally to 4 in this innings, a clear lbw this time. NZ 190-7, a lead of 39.
  • Carse gets his 5th, another lbw that isn't even reviewed. NZ 192-8, just 41 ahead.
  • Oh no, Ben Stokes has had to quit halfway through bowling an over, although he hasn't felt the need to leave the field just yet. Atkinson finishes the over.
  • Atkinson in on the act now, with Root taking a decent steepling catch on the boundary, NZ 209-9, just 58 ahead.
  • A stubborn last wicket partnership of 45 takes NZ to 254 all out, with Carse taking his 6th wicket in the innings, and his 10th in the match. England need 104 to win.
  • Crawley goes cheaply again, for just 1. England 1-1.
