  • An early breakthrough as Smith takes an edge off Carse and Rizwan, who benefited from the lack of a review yesterday, goes. 264-6.
  • Potts gets his second, with Smith taking the catch. Pakistan are 302-7.
  • Leach in on the act now, Root taking the catch. 309-8.
  • A fairly good morning for England as Pakistan reach 358-8 at lunch, but somewhat marred by the frustrating and unbeaten 9th wicket partnership of 49.
  • Carse gets a wicket straight after lunch, clean bowled. 358-9.
  • Leach takes 4 as Carse takes the catch in deep. Pakistan 366 all out, a decent performance by England, but the pitch, effectively on day 7, can't be trusted so England will be doing well to take a first innings lead.
  • Crawley very lucky to survive a run out; he was miles out but the bowler broke the wicket before he had the ball in his hands. Very poor running though, Crawley went a long way before turning and having to try and make his ground.
  • Crawley survives an onfield lbw decision on review, poor by the umpire to have given it tbh.

Crawley goes, caught behind but only given on review, for 27. England are 73-1.

Pope in at 3, he seems to be a bit feast or famine. Let's hope he's on a good day today.
  • 50 for Duckett, off just 47 balls.
  • A decent start, England reach 88-1 at tea, off just 17 overs.

Oh well, gone for 29. It was a good ball mind, but not great defence. 125-2.

  • 100 for Duckett, he's moved to 103 off just 120 balls. England on 199-2.
  • Root drags one on to his stumps and goes for 34; England are 211-3.

Brook comes to the crease after his triple century last week, I really hope he and Duckett see out the day, 40 minutes or so until the close.
  • Oh dear, Duckett goes for 114, England 224-4.
  • And now Brook goes for just 9, 225-5.
  • Oh goodness me, Stokes goes for 1, 225-6.
  • Root drags one on to his stumps and goes for 34; England are 211-3.

    That aged well.

  • They could barely see out an over. 4 wickets in 3 overs.
  • 239-6 at the close. The ball was really spinning after tea, hardly surprising at the end of a day 7 pitch. Losing the toss really has us at a big disadvantage here.
  • Oh dear, Carse tries to hit down the ground and picks out the fielder, he goes for only 4, England are 248-7.
  • And now Potts goes for 6. 256-8.
  • And now Smith with a rash swipe at one, he goes for 21 and England are 262-9, still 104 behind.
  • Leach and Bashir manage to add an enterprising 29 for the last wicket before Bashir holes out. England all out for 291, a first innings deficit of 75 with all 10 wickets going to spin.
  • England have opened with spin at both ends in the form of Leach and Bashir.
  • England review a caught behind down the leg side off Bashir. There are a couple of spikes, but, tbh, there are some when the ball definitely wasn't near the bat. A bit unsure about that, but it's given and Pakistan are 9-1.
  • Bashir gets a second, caught by Pope at gully; Pakistan are 25-2.
  • Bashir takes a third with the last ball before lunch, again caught by Pope at gully. Pakistan 43-3.
  • Meanwhile, India are 46-9 after winning the toss and opting to bat against New Zealand.
  • After 15 overs of spin from Leach, Root and Bashir, Carse comes into the attack for the first over after lunch.
