I agree he shouldn't be forced to actively promote it. Although, the rainbow laces and similar gestures isn't actively promoting it, anyway. It's saying that they won't actively discriminate against it, surely.
This may be slightly controversial as we only have our own perspective but imo, the “Support” for the initiative is a collective one which has been assumed by the league/clubs and as a representative of the club he is simply being asked to wear the armband in support of the clubs obligation.
He is not being asked to advocate personally on the merits and to me, his stance comes across more as a “look at me” moment.
Many thanks and good wishes to all - and for the record, although I initially thought it weird, I am now a total advocate for green bean casserole with our thanksgiving dinner - look it up :-)
I cooked my first ever Thanksgiving dinner last week, it was Mrs shrugged’s first ever Thanksgiving outside the USA
Did turkey, mash, stuffing, gravy and green bean casserole although I made it with fresh mushrooms and milk rather than Campbell’s mushroom soup.
She reckons I got it right although not as good as her Grandma’s

Good point. Maybe he should have opted out of being captain for the day, due to his beliefs. You can't have it both ways.
I must admit, these women moaning about not getting their pension until the same age as men are really annoying me. The difference in state pension age was a huge inequality left in place for decades after the Equal Opportunites Act of 1984, and, despite the fact that the change in pension ages has been widely publicised and there's finally going to be a fair allocation between men and women, they feel they deserve compensation, I believe, because they weren't personally notified.
A West Ham spokesperson: “West Ham United can confirm head coach Julen Lopetegui has returned to Spain to attend the funeral of his father, José, who sadly passed away on Tuesday at the age of 94.
“The thoughts and sincere condolences of everyone at the club are with Julen, his family and friends, and we kindly ask that their privacy is respected at this time.
“Lopetegui’s coaching team will oversee training during this period.
‘The club will be making no further comment at this time.”
Anyone else struggling with this one? A man, alone in a property, had paramedics called out over concerns for his safety as he had a knife. Police were later called, and, after a negotiator tried to resolve the situation for several hours, the man was shot and died.
If there was a threat to someone else, I can understand that it may have been necessary to shoot him, but if there was no-one else involved it's hard to see why a shot was fired; what was a worse case scenario that they were trying to prevent?
