I see on the OS that West Ham have partnered with a UAE property development company who are promoting properties for sale in Lebanon, no mention of being bombed by the Israelis.
No "other matches' thread so I'll tag on under aslefs contribution...
I can scarcely ever remembering Spurs being a pleasure to watch, but they were yesterday! So loving this run of Man City defeats!!
A little bit jealous of the way the likes of Brighton, Bournemouth and Fulham play. The games yesterday were also great to watch and Wolves have come alive! Wouldn't mind Cunha in our squad.
Lastly, mmmm LIverpool with points in hand. Even a loss to City will not be too disastrous but a win would be 11 points and no City title this year!!!!
I've just posted on the J Lo thread, but although the post is in the thread, the front page says the last post in the thread is on 13th November, and the thread isn't near the top. Odd.
Had to share this from over on KUMB. Someone made a comment about how a large proportion of fans think they can do a better job than the manager (not our specific manager, but just generally). Both these 2 posts made me laugh:
Many thanks and good wishes to all - and for the record, although I initially thought it weird, I am now a total advocate for green bean casserole with our thanksgiving dinner - look it up :-)
Ipswich captain opts not to show support for the Rainbow Laces, citing religious beliefs.
That's fine, but imo the club should not have him as captain when his values and beliefs (whatever their basis) are discriminatory, and contradict the stated aim of the club of "promoting equality and acceptance". How can they justify making someone the official club representative who in his words and actions is against that club aim?
ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ»Perhaps he should have been β not selected β for these games. He can then have his religious beliefs and keep them to himself. At the end of the day heβs playing in a country that thank god has equality and is proud of it ππππ
As an athiest I'm not often an advocate for religious beliefs, but I can see both sides of this and it's definitely a very tough one imo. He may well be OK with accepting the LBGTQ+ community whenever he comes into contact with someone who is part of it, but that doesn't mean he should have to actively promote it. I'm all for live and let live (Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs and Man Utd excepted ππ€£π), but that doesn't mean I'm going to go on a Pride march.
Is forcing someone to go against their religious beliefs a policy of "promoting equality and acceptance"? Yes, I get that his beliefs may be viewed as discriminatory, but Islam is hardly a minor religion; should we ban it because we don't agree with it? There's a huge can of worms here, so I'll say no more, I just wanted to put out there that there are two sides to this and it's not the first time such a situation has arisen.
As I say, it's a really, really tough situation. Maybe a different player should have been captain for the day.
I agree he shouldn't be forced to actively promote it. Although, the rainbow laces and similar gestures isn't actively promoting it, anyway. It's saying that they won't actively discriminate against it, surely.
On another point, nobody is talking about banning Islam. Although I notice that other practising Muslims did participate in this event... Much like Christianity, I expect there's more than one interpretation of what a religion prohibits/requires. He's chosen to follow one of the paths.
I think he is entirely within his rights to decline to participate. And it would be wrong to compel him to.
But the club is being hypocritical, imo, making public declarations that LGBTQ+ are welcome, while giving the armband to someone who won't endorse that message.

Admittedly itβs against Ipswich but when Ten Hag played him there against Barnsley in the Caribou he scored twice
Other than that Man U look awful

I've unsunk it now.
Edit: Nothing has changed for me, it's still showing 13th November and down the page.
My post was the first after I turned the sink function off and bumping came back into operation.
Not sure why/when it was sunk - might have been in error. ( It's a mod function)
I got sunshine in a bag
I'm useless, but not for long
The future is coming on πΆ
I wonder if the Millwall fans were singing "No one lights us, we don't care" ?
That's awful.
You've been away too long.
