  • England win the toss and again put Australia in, didn't work out so well last time, let's hope it goes better this time around 🤞🤞🤞.

Australia lose their first, as Broad gets Warner's wicket, 4-1.
  • 42-2, Wood gets Khawaja.
  • 61-3, Labuschagne gone to Woakes.
  • They are 80-3 and 15 of those are extras. Need to cut that down.
  • Bad drop by Bairstow down the leg-side, costing us again.
  • Bairstow with two drops already. Smith for 4 (now 22) and Head for 9.

Proving game after game to have been the wrong call 😠

    Bairstow catches Smith.

    You're welcome.

The Smith catch was a tough one, but the Head one was dreadful.

Smith goes now though, 85-4. He edged it, and still reviewed it. Great .
  • Another dreadful drop, this time by Root at first slip.
  • 13 dropped catches and the missed stumping.

Not really good enough at this level.

The Smith catch was a tough one, but the Head one was dreadful.

Having re-watched that, he really should have taken the Smith catch as well.
  • Root's dropped catch really costing.

Nearly 70 runs added so far since the three dropped catches. Smith only added 18 but these 2 more than 50. Unacceptable.
  • Yeah, both Head and Marsh gave regulation catches and it's a worry how well these two are going now.
  • Sounds like they're blowing it again England.
  • And we're seemingly a bowler down now, Robinson has walked off halfway through bowling an over so obviously something not right at all with him.
  • Marsh has made a ton, Root's drop very, very costly so far 😭😭😭.
  • Dropped on 12, Marsh goes on to hit a 102-ball ton.

    Ashes gone, methinks.
  • Bairstow and Root both need to get centuries to make up for what they’ve cost us. The whole series our catching has generally been abysmal.
Marsh got his century with a run that but for the missfield Head would have been run out.

An awful lot of that has been down to Bairstow's keeping imo.

  • Marsh has hit 92 in boundaries so far
  • Finally Marsh goes, 240-5.
  • England generally have been sloppy and far too casual. Stokes has made the point that his team are not results-driven, and they certainly seem to be playing with that attitude.

Poor decisions and mindsets throughout this series so far, IMO.

They don’t seem performance driven either. The “it doesn’t matter because we can chase any total” attitude doesn’t work if you’re giving runs away like there’s no tomorrow.
That was Marsh’s first test for 4 years.
  • Really difficult chances dropped are excusable but the 3 today should have been taken comfortably. They’ve cost more than 150 runs and added to the 23 extras is the bulk of the Aussies score. Will be interesting to see if they drop as many expensive chances when we bat.
  • For sure, the Smith one was tougher than the other two, but even then you'd feel a more natural keeper, such as Foakes or the Aussie's Carey, would have taken it. The Head and Marsh drops by Bairstow and Root respectively were dreadful, and extremely costly, mistakes that could have a huge impact on the game.

Root’s dropped another one, Carey and then gets Head next ball.
  • Another drop by Root, Carey gets a life this time.

Next ball Root takes Head at slip, although even that wasn't the cleanest catch. 245-6.
