Bairstow and Root both need to get centuries to make up for what they’ve cost us. The whole series our catching has generally been abysmal. Marsh got his century with a run that but for the missfield Head would have been run out.

An awful lot of that has been down to Bairstow's keeping imo.
England generally have been sloppy and far too casual. Stokes has made the point that his team are not results-driven, and they certainly seem to be playing with that attitude.
Poor decisions and mindsets throughout this series so far, IMO.
They don’t seem performance driven either. The “it doesn’t matter because we can chase any total” attitude doesn’t work if you’re giving runs away like there’s no tomorrow. That was Marsh’s first test for 4 years.
Really difficult chances dropped are excusable but the 3 today should have been taken comfortably. They’ve cost more than 150 runs and added to the 23 extras is the bulk of the Aussies score. Will be interesting to see if they drop as many expensive chances when we bat.
For sure, the Smith one was tougher than the other two, but even then you'd feel a more natural keeper, such as Foakes or the Aussie's Carey, would have taken it. The Head and Marsh drops by Bairstow and Root respectively were dreadful, and extremely costly, mistakes that could have a huge impact on the game.

Proving game after game to have been the wrong call 😠
You're welcome.
Smith goes now though, 85-4. He edged it, and still reviewed it. Great .
Not really good enough at this level.
Ashes gone, methinks.
