  • I know Moyes is reported to like to work with a small-ish squad, but depth could be even more important than usual this season, given the current implementation of rules on yellow cards. All teams are likely to end up with more yellows (and potentially more 2nd yellow reds), so players are more likely to miss games through suspension than in previous seasons.
  • It sounds like Kudus is going to be official today, making it a very nice bank holiday in West Ham World
  • 2 top drawer fullbacks and this squad can go real far.

Why wouldn't he want to join a club sitting at the top of the PL. ;)
  • Love Paqueta but do wish he would cut out the play acting .Yesterday he went down holding his head like he had been shot ,replays showed the hand on him was no where near his head .When players of other teams do it ,We call them out .Dont really want to see it from our players .But like i said love the guy
  • Sorry wrong thread ,but my point stands =)
  • So you're really saying we should sell him. 😂
  • Apparently, WHU are chasing Maguire again https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/23669127/west-ham-transfer-harry-maguire-man-utd/

May be Kehrer will be leaving. But personally, I rather not have a player who is reluctant to join. As he would be taking a wage cut to join us, he may sulk when he does not get a pay rise and disrupt.
  • Only reason to sign Maguire is if Kehrer or Aguerd were off. We don’t need him now we’ve signed Mavropanos to add to the four CBs we already have.

The suggestion is that there is interest in Zouma from Saudi, and, given Zouma is unlikely to have a normal length career due to his knees, I think the club (and the player) might be open to a move for the right amount. Also worth bearing in mind that Ogbonna is almost certainly off at the end of the season.

I still don't want Maguire, but having him on loan is less bad than paying silly money for him.
  • Apparently he'll be unveiled about 6pm this evening.

    Who ?!!!! 😉😉😉⚒️

  • Mr. Kudus of course hahaha
  • If Kudus gets done, I will be delighted.
  • No to Maguire. Alvarez can play CB if needed.
  • No to Maguire. Alvarez can play CB if needed.

Whilst I agree with the first part, saying Alvarez can play there is similar to saying Rice could play there last season. Yes, he can play there, but then who plays in his position without making us weaker?

  • It is an option. He has also played in that position.
No need now for a CB unless someone leaves. I would rather a full back.
  • I can’t believe we are still chasing Maguire, if true. He’s about 5th choice at Man Utd - wouldn’t put him higher than that at West Ham. An expensive, past his best, potentially disruptive bench warmer.
    Did I mention I don’t want Maguire? 🤪⚒

Sounds like a mixed message there.
  • I would be surprised if we wanted Maguire on big wages now Kostas has come in and a full back would seem a better use of funds.
  • Sky report that we are considering a loan deal for Maguire, who is open to that. I don’t see why we need him now.
  • I don't see why we need him, BUT I think people should remember how many "why are we after Ward-Prowse?" comments we saw on here and elsewhere, and how quickly people have been made to eat their words. If we do sign him, it'll be because Moyes has a plan.
  • So it looks like why might be trying to sign a Brazilian striker. The thing is the idk's can't decide which one of two it will be hahaha

I think Maguire would be a good signing, but would expect a CB to go as a result. Rumour on KUMB is that there are offers for Zouma on the table & the club may take it due to his knees & he wants to make the most of the rest of the career he has.
  • Tbf I think there is some logic behind Zouma

Look through his injury history it's got a lot of knee issues, including last year for us that if it wasn't for the world cup would've meant him missing a lot more games then he did

Hes only 28, but with the crazy Saudi money throwing about its something we'd have to consider (as would he as I'm sure he has some worries about playing into his 30's)

Think Maguire is a downgrade on Zouma, think Zouma when fit has been a big player for us and don't think Maguire can be as good as he's a player who's at rock bottom and imo can't play in a back 2. Although the deep set up may suit him in some respect

I'd prefer to keep Zouma and leave Maguire alone, but this one I can (sort of) see the logic behind it

The move makes no sense though if all our CB's stay

Rumours of Kehrer to Bayern too. He was bought as a CB.
  • It could be financial ... in an article I read about how Chelsea manage to cook their books I noted that signing someone on loan with an obligation to buy is in effect like buying them, but you don't record the transfer spend in the 1st year's accounts. So it can help out with meeting FFP obligations. (That's assuming Moyes definitely wants him, but mainly for next season when Ogbonna leaves?)
  • I think Zouma going would be a big loss, I am all in favour of having high quality back up for him being unlikely to go too long without injury but he is the number one full back at the club in my view. I have always felt Maguire would be a good signing but I wanted him and Aguerd to compete for the second spot and cover for Zouma when injured, not to replace Zouma.
