I have to dmit that the greed to have him will leave me pretty disappointed if we dont get it over the line. Hopefully the 3 goals will light a fire under us
Lets hope the Ajax fans are more understanding than ours, Rice was perfect until he left and then he got proper abuse from some just for showing enthusiasm for Arsenal AFTER he signed. I think they would have had him playing with a West ham shirt underneath and anytime he scored taking his Arsenal one off and making the hammers sign.
I thought the same about us signing Ward-Prowse. Are the Southampton fans meant to hate him now that he is happy playing for us?

Don’t think they can be compared IMO JWP had given all his career to them, sadly for them they went down, it was inevitable that he’d move on IMO if he still harbours thoughts he can make the England squad… Rice however had just won a European cup, was offered a fortune to stay ( according to reports and Sullivan) and arguably could have stayed, but he decided WHUFC were not good enough for him and he was too good to stay… While I don’t agree with some of the grief he’s since received from some Hammers fans, it’s not the same as JWP leaving Southampton IMO, different circumstances….👍🏻 I’d be surprised to see as many apart from a few fools giving JWP grief for leaving…

But literally 99% of comments I saw before he left was that nobody begrudged him leaving, and the main issue I see people post about these days is that he doesn't seem to be heartbroken about leaving, and seems to be enjoying himself.
Alderz, don’t disagree with your comments, my point was that JWP is a totally different kettle of fish IMO… Rice forced the move as such whereas JWP was inevitable once they were relegated, I’m not saying Rice deserves some of the comments he’s gotten, but at the end of the day he made his bed….
How did Rice force the move and JWP didn't? I remember reading about a month ago someone at Saints saying they didn't need to sell JWP and he could stay until the end of his contract in 2025 if he wanted
Both Rice and JWP made career decisions, both want to play at the highest level that they can.
JWP decided that we offered better future prospects than Saints, that with us he could carry on playing in Premier League and have a far better chance of playing in Europe
Rice decided that Arsenal offered better future prospects than us, with a chance of winning the Premier League and playing in the Champions League
I really don't see the difference and don't think either of them did anything wrong.
Rice is an excellent professional footballer. He didn’t grow up a Hammer, but put everything into the game whilst playing for us. Now he will do the same for Arsenal because he is an excellent professional footballer.
Honoured his contract, no fuss, no strops, no downing tools.
We should be grateful for his time with us, and hope his example rubbed off on our academy, so another will be along soon.
It does annoy me seeing people on social media calling Rice a snake. He could have easily signed a new contract, on more money, then forced a move but he didnt. He could have forced a move any time. Lets be honest, we've all been waiting for him to leave for the last few seasons.... i still cant bring myself to watch him in an arsenal shirt yet though 😂
I can't stand Arteta and then hear Rice basically say he thought Arteta was the best thing since sliced bread put me off Rice, Mueller rice and I haven't eaten rice ever since. I might get over it some day, just not today hahaha
Balogun rumoured to be imminently moving to Monaco for £35m. I would have liked us to sign him, but I feel like Arsenal would have wanted a lot more money from another PL club.

If you look at what Moyes has put together in his time at West Ham, and what Arteta has put together in his time at Arsenal, and if you are a player who likes a certain style, it really is an easy choice to make.

That's football
Aslef, my point is......Southampton were relegated....WHUFC were not.
After ALL the years of service that JWP had given Southampton no one could complain about his desire to move on, back to the PL where he clearly is good enough and to continue to try push his name into the England squad again, he certainly would not have been able to do that in the championship.
Rice, he'd just captained WHUFC to their first trophy in donkeys years, he was offered a lot of money to stay and he simply decided he was TOO GOOD for WHUFC and WHUFC WERE NOT GOOD enough for him.....
He had more of a decision to make than JWP IMO, and he had already decided his future way before that final, by all accounts and reports, although I don't have proof of that, just from general media outlets...
Like I said , how many times, I don't approve the comments that Rice has had from certain supporters on social media etc, but IMO you cannot compare his move to JWP, it's totally different IMO and neither have done wrong, just football as you said....
But Aslef, you entitled to your opinion, like I'm entitled to mine, neither of us are right, they are just our views.......
Anyhow, RICE is history, he's our past, back to the future, when is Venison, I mean Kudus signing!!
It makes me pretty cross that we're using a private jet tbh. Not much point in me washing out my tins and cartons if football clubs are going to fly a private plane to and from Amsterdam!

Whilst I agree with your sentiments, my gut feeling is that Timmy makes potential signings feel important and loved, and that the VIP treatment is part of that.
Being schmoozed in this way is more likely to leave a player with a good impression of the club rather than Sullivan's self-important guff and possibly even Moyes's frank (if realistic) comments on playing time guarantees (at least Timmy might take the edge off any perceived negativity).
Can we re-open the Rice thread so those who want to discuss him can do it there rather than on here and those of us who don't can avoid it?
Sorry Aslef, it wasn’t my point.. but hey, whatever floats your boat !!!!!! JWP is the future…not Rice 👍🏻 I have no desire to chat about Rice anymore, he’s now a Gunner…… History!!!!!! Unless you wish to discuss him….

Sky and others reporting that we've agreed a deal with Kudus, £35.59m plus £2.57m add ons, 5-year contract and he's flying to London for his medical tomorrow
A few weeks ago some were bemoaning our lack of transfer activity and we're about to sign a 4th player in 16 days

Balogun spent last season on loan at Reims, maybe he just prefers France to the UK
Don't laugh, suggestions on KUMB that we might go back in for him (possibly on loan).
Also suggested that Zouma could be open to a Saudi move where conditions, both climatically and physically, would be less demanding for him. We all know that he's got a long term (rumoured to be degenerative) knee issue so realistically he's not going to have as long a career as many CBs; it could be that current assessments of the problem suggest now would be an optimum time to offload him should he be open to a move.
If that's the case, then I've no problem with moving him on for a decent fee. With how he moves on the pitch, I'd be happy to get 2 more seasons out of him playing to a good standard; imo I think he's a quality CB but I just don't see him having many more top flight seasons in him.

Admittedly pretty close to Amsterdam though 😂🤣😂.
