Why does the BBC website highlight 7th place?
Surely it’s too soon to know if 7th place gets a spot in Europe.

  • Because in all likelihood it will. The chances are that the FA Cup will be won by one of the teams that finish in the top 6.

I can't see us finishing in the top 6 =)

Given how we're playing, and the teams left in, I really can't see us winning the cup either.

Heard it on talkSPORT. They have stated he has left & will be announced shortly. Seemed pretty definitive.

More like 18 weeks at Watford.
  • John Toshack in intensive care in Spain with covid induced pneumonia and on a ventilator. Come on Tosh, you've won many battles before, you can win this one.
  • What a state we currently find the world in. Abramovitch and his dirty money, I'm thankful we're owned by a couple of geezers, regardless of lack of recent Investment.
  • This government, just when you think we couldn’t get much lower. Civilised governments across Europe waive visa requirements to allow terrified refugees sanctuary but we can’t because of “security reasons “.
    We should be ashamed.
  • The security reasons are real. Ukraine have already captured a number of Russians posing as Ukrainian citizens and also Russian soldiers in Ukrainian uniforms. It is imperative that Europe prevent Russians leaving via Ukraine as they would most likely be special forces and we all know what they are capable of. So long as we can verify genuine refugees there is not a problem.
Already Poland are confirming that a large number of non Ukrainians are crossing the border and they are having to deal with them. Most seem to be migrant workers but they are having to do the same checks that we want to do.
  • There's a difference between verifying a refugee's identity and imposing strict visa requirements.

There are also lots of non-Ukrainian students who where studying there. They are being hassled a lot at the border.

Ukraine's current rules prevent the vast majority of men leaving. So it's not very likely 'fake' Ukrainian men are getting across the border.

Why would a Russian special forces operative try to enter the UK or wherever posing as a refugee. That sounds highly implausible. They'd surely just be flown direct on a consulate or diplomatic pretext, or inveigled into the country in the same way they always have been.

That whole argument isn't very convincing, to me.
  • Most of them are women with children. I don't see Russians sending their kids over as fake refugees. We all know they'll be stuck into camps for months while the government tries not very hard to organise things.
