I suppose it's worth mentioning that Moyes is a PL football manager whereas we on here are....not. Maybe, just maybe, he knows a little bit more than us. For a start, he's got us into 7th place and not by luck. Why does everybody seem to think they know better? I have total trust in him knowing what he's doing, unlike Pelle.
All people are doing is voicing an opinion. No-one is claiming to know better than Moyes.
However, with limited funds available to strengthen in positions that we're short in, the logic of signing an attacking midfielder when we are pretty well stocked in that position is valid for questioning, IMO.
I haven’t seen enough of Lingard to know his ability but from what I remember, he had decent pace & was very direct in a counter-attacking Man Utd team. Would seem to suit us to be honest.
People seem to be confusing numbers for quality. Yes we have Yarmo & Lanzini, but what have they offered over the last 2 years? We also need to be signing better players, even if we have options in that position.
“I’m glad we are signing Lingard. We are finally ditching our policy of getting players who were good five years ago. Instead we are getting players who were good three years ago. That is what you call progress”

There's not much evidence he's a better player though, which is the confusion. He had a short period when he was good. If it turns out to be permanent, it's even more confusing if we end up with less budget for a striker, which is the position we really do need to fill. One cup performance by Yarmolenko isn't enough to make him fit to cover that position.
Not a fan of Lingard. However I wasn't a fan of the Dawson signing. If Lingard is a Moyes signing then I fully support it. His signings have been outstanding.
West Ham have made a formal approach to take Jesse Lingard from Manchester United on loan until the end of the season.
The Old Trafford club have already triggered a clause in his contract to extend it until the summer of 2022 but he hasn't made any Premier League appearances this season.
Manchester United are yet to make a decision, but speaking after their 3-2 win over Liverpool in the FA Cup on Sunday, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: "Of course, he wants to play football and we'll have to sit down with Jesse and make a decision.
"He trained this morning with a small group who weren't in the squad. I'm very happy to have Jesse around us but he is the ultimate professional. I know that he was ready to play today and would've played well."
We also need to be signing better players, even if we have options in that position.
I don't disagree with this at all, but our owners have been pleading poverty and what little funds we have should be going on a striker first, and then a central midfielder to cover SouDec. Lingard is neither of those.
It's not about Lingard as such; he could be an improvement on Lanzini and Yarmolenko, but the point is that if the rumours are true, he'll either cost £6m for a permanent move, or to loan him we'll have to make Benrahma (£20m) or Dawson (£3m) permanent. Either way, it's money that we can't spend on a priority position.
If by the end of the week we have King in, or this South Korean chap, then the Lingard signing would be more acceptable; but if we're not going to address our obvious areas of weakness but bring in another attacking midfielder, then it just doesn't make sense to me.
We technically should've had the money for Benrahma to be made permanent anyway, as it was supposed to happen during the last window. And then the Haller money for whatever we're getting this window.
Big Sam interested in benteke hope he wins the race if he’s available
According to press reports, Benteke doesn't want to join West Brom. May be it is the money issue, or he does not relish a relegation candidate or hard work which Allardyce would demand.
Reports there are four other clubs after him, could be a smokescreen were after rashford, 5 mil down and they pay us 6 mil back when he’s reached 200 appearances for us
Been a while since a potential transfer has irritated me so much, don’t rate him at all and neither do my friends who are Man U fans. Poor passer and decision maker.
It's not my favourite signing we'll ever make, but I think that it will prove to be a good signing if he comes in. I fully trust Moyes to make a difference to his career and improve him.
eski - maybe you weren't one of them, but a lot of people were this annoyed at Dawson and he's proven to be a solid signing so far.
