  • alderz, who is the LB cover if he is going into PL2? Why sign him if it is only a loan deal?

No idea. Maybe it’s a loan so the youth coaches can get a good look at him and decide if we want to bring him in permanently in the future? I might be wrong, obviously, but I’d he signs I wouldn’t expect him to play at all. I mean, if he was good enough now to get PL minutes you’d think he would be playing for Leipzig or even be on loan in Eredivisie

    How long have we got?

Another three years at least, sadly...
  • We don’t need lingard or any other Man Utd duffer
  • Victoria Prentis wins by a clear mile.

A week left, I'm still backing Josh King to be signed on deadline day
  • This is going to be an unpopular opinion bit I am happy with no signings. We are currently on 32 points and pretty much guaranteed safe from relegation. We are also not in a position where we can cope with Europe. True, we could buy the players but especially in times where Europe will in all likelihood not include income through tickets that will not be a feasible option.

A small squad will force the manager to use the youngsters in case of injuries and safety of relegation takes away a lot of pressure they would normally be under. Even loan signings will mean that youngsters will not be blooded because the loans will always be the safe option. At the very least we will put them in the shop window knowing whether it is worth sending them out on loan. At best we will see players emerging who we can then keep or sell on.

I guess the worry is that relying on an unproven youngster or being forced to use a kid before they are ready can be really damaging to their career. It wasn't too long ago we talked about Stephen Bywater, for example. When a player is clearly not up to the level yet but are needed, it can seriously rock their confidence.

I'd be really worried if like, let's say Antonio gets injured for 5/6 games and Odubeko has to play, if he doesn't score or looks like he's not ready then we may never see him reach his potential.

I think I also trust Moyes to bring kids in when he feels they are ready. He gave Rice a lot of game time in his first spell, he has brought through Johnson. If he brought in a loan striker but felt that Odubeko was capable, I'd trust Moyes to play him when he was ready.
  • The point is, though, that the pressure is off as it won't be a relegation fight and there are no fans to poison the atmosphere.

I trust Moyes to get it right and if that means there are no signings then I am sure he will elevate the players neccessary.
  • I trust him too, but he has openly said he wants a striker, which indicates that he doesn’t think anyone is ready to step up immediately

I don’t think the pressure should be off though should it? There’s a European place to go after this season. Imo there isn’t really an argument to say finishing mid table would be a good season just because of the relegation scrap of last season, because next season could very easily see us slump again.

We have a strong, fit and organised squad which is putting points on the board. We need to make hay and with whatever assistance sully is able to provide, we need to aim for even higher in the second half of the season
  • Why are WHU not going for 24 year old Leicester winger Demarai Gray who has turned down a new contract and is available for £1.8m? He has pace and can play as winger and centre-forward. Crystal Palace and Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen are said to be seeking his signature.

  • All the noises on Twitterz is re Lingard. I'm a bit meh.

How many wingers do we really need ?
  • No more Wingers but it does say he can play as a centre forward. I don't know much about him though.

Well according to Leicester fans hes never developed his game, is shelfish, doesnt score/assist and given they are happy for him to go on a free i think it fair to say he's hit the heights many expected from him

He’s 24 and has been a bit part player for 4 years or so now, I think if he leaves he’ll want football, and he’s not as good as what we’ve got. Also when the fee is so small they often expedt larger wages
  • Lingard is apparently joining permanently for £6m, according to C&H.
  • Don’t really feel that Lingard is covering a position we really need covered.

Could do with an LB/LWB, CM or CF, and we sign Lingard...

Such an odd signing. Is it that we're getting him for competition for Bowen on the right and using Yarmolenko as our second choice striker? Haller effectively being replaced by a £6m winger?
  • And after all that noise from Sullivan in the summer about having too many wingers, too. Since that statement, and assuming Lingard signs, we've let two go and brought in... two 🤔
  • IF correct DM doing for Manchester United what he did for Preston giving them money for someone we don’t need. Surprised he hasn’t gone for Phil Jones! ☹️

Senior attacking midfielders on the books:

Lanzini, Benrahma, Fornals, Bowen, Yarmolenko, Anderson.

    Senior strikers on the books:

    Antonio.

    Guess which position we're strengthening.

I suppose it's worth mentioning that Moyes is a PL football manager whereas we on here are....not.
Maybe, just maybe, he knows a little bit more than us. For a start, he's got us into 7th place and not by luck.
Why does everybody seem to think they know better? I have total trust in him knowing what he's doing, unlike Pelle.

Tbf we don’t know what each other do for a living. ASLEF drives trains we know that, but Outcast could secretly be Dean Smith.
  • I think it’s an ok signing if I’m honest. Covering a/m I would say rather than the wing. He was playing infield a fair bit when on song for england? Moyes must think he knows how to get the best of him. And it seems pretty clear it is a Moyes signing and one HE really wants, which is good too.

At least it tells us there appears to be money available! I think it also tells us one way or another we’ll get our c/f before this window is done as I don’t think Moyes would have given the go-ahead otherwise.

Just think, also it means we won’t be trying to get the likes of Shelvey!!

I’m slightly less vexed about l/b right now. I think Johnson can more than hold his own, and hopefully this means we’ll see more of him.

Outcast has far too much class to be Dean Smith =)

I thought this site was supposed to be free from insults and we were to be kind to each other?
