Talksport's Alex Crook reckons Chelsea want to sell four players to fund the Rice transfer; Danny Drinkwater, Fikayo Tomori, Marcos Alonso and Willy Caballero.
A few weeks ago Chelsea wanted to sell seven players to fund the Haaland and Rice transfers; Antonio Rudiger, Ross Barkley, Jorginho, Danny Drinkwater, Victor Moses, Marcos Alonso and Andreas Christensen
In June Chelsea wanted to sell seven players to clear the wage bill after signing Werner and Ziyech; Pedro, Willian, Jorginho, Marcos Alonso, Kurt Zouma, Ross Barkley and Michy Batshuayi
Expect "Chelsea to sell entire team to fund Rice transfer" by the end of the season
I think Alex Crook's calculator might be broken. I don't see a market were Drinkwater, Tomori, Alonso & Cabellero pull in £70m+.
Cabellero's contract runs out in the summer, so he won't be bringing any money in. The rest of them are valued by transfermarkt at DD 3.6m, FT 17m, MA 11.7m, while Rice is valued at 49.5m.
The Chelsea link is getting really boring. There's a lot of places I'd rather he go. I'd probably choose City if I could, or somewhere like Bayern Munich.
If he's going to leave us I think he should go and play for like Bayern or Juventus or someone of that ilk. He's the best player I've ever seen play for West Ham, and that's becoming more and more apparent every week. He gets to play with his mate for England, so why not go and win titles on the regular around Europe instead of moving down the road to a team that constantly seems to be in transition.
Cuz, let's look at this another way regarding Haller. In your opinion, in which PL club do you think that he would flourish without that club easily changing their system to suit his style of play?

Let me put it another way would you pay 42 million for an item and not use its strengths as he become a bad player overnight, would you buy salah and play him as a lone striker because I wouldn’t, I get that it isn’t working for him but we will get nothing for him because of the ways he’s playing, but in answer to your question he probably score more for any premier league club bar the bottom three if played in a system where he’s scored goals before, I’m not blaming moyes particularly he’s got a system that works and maybe sees haller as surplus but for me that doesn’t make haller a failure
Milik has turned into a beast on the last two football managers and always gets signed by Liverpool, then left on the bench to rot. I’ve never seen him play, but I know the name.
Cuz, it seems that we'll have to agree to disagree on Haller . And just to clarify the matter, I really would like him to succeed and I've held off from criticising him for longer than many on here. However I thought these might be of interest.

Interesting to read that rather than play five at the back it almost fell on him due to nobles injury so in theory was a blessing, and I get that about haller seems he’s been unlucky with other peoples form ie Anderson and yarma, and I get he hasn’t shown as much as a 40 million player should I just don’t think his attitude is down to ability or he’s become a bad player and I’d hate for a tweak here and there could put right, imagine when Antonio’s fit moyes played them both together maybe a confidence boost he needs
I don’t think the article is accurate in saying he fell into the 5-4-1 / 3-4-3 when he played it in his first spell, and I’m pretty sure he played it last season too?
In my view I think the January window is for those fearing a relegation fight or those pushing for top four, I don't think either apply to us this season so I probably wouldn't be looking to spend funds. I feel we should look for a striker on short term loan if we can get one.
In theory we should have the ability to pay some decent wages to secure one as we shaved quite a bIt from the wage bill over the last 18 months and providing we are not paying part of Andersons wages, his alone should entice someone decent.
West Ham United could look to sign 35-year-old Italian striker Graziano Pelle, who has just left Chinese Super League side Shandong Luneng, if they fail to sign Bournemouth's Norway forward Josh King, 28. (Star)
The Hammers have chosen not to try to re-sign 31-year-old Austria forward Marko Arnautovic, who left them to join Chinese Super League side Shanghai SIPG, because it would be too expensive. (Mail)
I could understand signing Pelle until the end of the season (or loaning Milik) as a temporary fix but it seems pretty obvious that Moyes has decided to wait until the summer to sort out the striker situation.
Not sure about the comment about the jan window being about relegation or top 4?
We are 7 points off top spot. We should sit back and do nothing? Will that kind of approach see the likes of Rice want to stick around a bit longer? The striker situation needs a fix of some sort (even a stop gap) right now.
The summer will bring fresh challenges not just restricted to one or two positions - we may be needing a keeper by then too for example.
This was the issue in the 15/16 season too. We didn’t strengthen where we needed to, we tailed off. It’s painfully clear to me that we need cover at L(W)B, CM & ST. I don’t expect us to go and sign players to cover all three of those positions, but I would like to see us at least sort out one. At the moment we are a Cresswell / Soucek / Rice / Antonio injury away from our system needing to change pretty drastically. Even if we reduce the risk by covering Cresswell and leave the others, then that’s a start.
I think CM and ST are possibly the biggest requirements. I think Johnson has proved that he can do a job at LB/LWB, which should hopefully be enough to cover until Masuaku is back. Don't get me wrong, we do need strengthening there, but that position could probably wait until the summer.
Rice and Soucek are so important to us that to lose either would be a disaster, IMO. None of Noble, Snodgrass, Lanzini or Fornals come close to offering what they do in the middle, so we desperately need some capable cover. The Haller discussion has been done to death on here, but I do think we need an Antonio-esque player to compliment how Moyes wants us to play (I'm kinda pro-Arnie on loan for the rest of the season, FWIW), but the lack of depth at CM worries me more than anything at the moment.

Chelsea is a circus.
Another name don't know much about him tbh
His contract expires in the summer, why pay £13.5m for someone we could sign on a free in six months? Loan?
However I thought these might be of interest.

Read what it says about Haller here and you have to ask yourself what has happened to the player that “even a bulldozer couldn’t knock him over”.
