Can’t see it being anything but a rumour if he’s on 200k a week what amount of the wage would we pay for a 32 year old mercenary, who for me did the dirty on us, could have understand if he was chasing honours but for China 🇨🇳 then I’d say you made your bed, lie on it simples and to be fair to moyes hugill apart as done well with his signings so I’d say let him choose another Antonio type from anywhere else rather than arnie only my opinion though
I agree with all of this, but I've bolded on part out because I think it is also important. If Moyes reckons Arnie is the best option available, then I personally say fair enough. I really don't want Arnie back, but I also want the club (incl. the fanbase) to put its trust into Moyes and his decision making.
But my thinking here is that everyone thinks we need another striker who can play the Antonio role. Everyone also knows that we are fishing in a small pond, as we don't have the scouting network or money to shop in the way we might want to. If the manager, who has had broadly been successful in the market so far, thinks that of his available options Arnie is the best bet, then I think it makes sense to trust him on that. You said yourself that his only real failure has been Hugill. What if the options are Arnie on a loan, or fishing for a cheap Championship backup like Hugill?
Well according to some on here haller doesn’t make the grade Antonio’s always injured we’ve done nothing so my choice would be stay the same, we don’t need disruption in our squad as I believe arnie would bring I’d rather we wait and he scouted his long term goal that fits into his younger fitter vision he said he wanted from us
The Chinese season runs from March to end of November, if Shanghai want Arnie's wages off their books its not going to do them any good if he goes back to them in May and I doubt if we'd be interested in a 12 month loan from January to December.
Well if it’s a choice between signing no-one at all, someone quite clearly not up to it, or bringing Arnie in for the short term (if that is Moyes’choice) then I am struggling to see how the cons outweigh the pros re: Arnie. It’s not even as though the crowd reaction needs to be factored in as it doesn’t look like there will be crowds for a good long while.
We are placed well in the league and for once I want to see us consolidate that for the rest of the season. Which is highly likely not to happen if we forced to play Haller through lack of other options.

I don't really understand why they would do it either, but the rumour appears to be on loan to the end of the season. I'm not going to pretend to understand the market or decision making of some of the other leagues around the world, tbh.
MLS and Chinese Super League clubs make some really weird decisions with transfers, particularly with loans.

I think that we as fans probably overemphasise the disruptive element. If he turned up and played football, I can't see that the other players would care much at all.
Here's a thought. Premier League sides can only register two loan players at the same time and only have a maximum of four loans per season. We've already got Dawson and Benrahma, the only way we could have Arnie on loan is if we sign one of them or send one back.
The more I look at this whole Arnie thing the less likely it seems to have any basis
We dont want or need Arnie,Would rather stick with what we have in Haller and Antonio. These are strange times ,So lets get to the summer where it might be easier to do something ,Perhaps get an young Antonio mark 2
It won’t be easier in the summer necessarily and tomorrow might never come anyway. It’s already shaping up to be one of those strange seasons where one or two surprise teams end up being placed really well at the end of the season. I want us to be one of those teams frankly and don’t want us to sit tight and hope (pray) it can be with Haller.
Play them both I like that idea,we’ve got a striker who needs someone with him and play him alone then we bring a mercenary back, who plays up top alone, and play two up top to accommodate him
Haller needs more than someone being up with him to be effective in this league. For example being able to control the ball and hold it up, being able to jump, being able to press defenders, I could go on.

Ideally Haller needs Luka Jovic and a formation that allows two strikers...
...but he isn't going to get it at West Ham
Just found out Haller scored twice in one game against Shaktar Donetsk in the Europa League round of 32, got knocked out in the semis by Chelsea on penalties (Haller took Frankfurt's first penalty, scored).
"Speaking on his Patreon site, ExWHUemployee said West Ham could potentially add as many as four more players on loan from foreign clubs.
And Ex pointed to West Ham’s London rivals Fulham as an example of a club using the loan system to its limit. They have Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Mario Lemina on loan from Chelsea and Southampton respectively.
But they also have goalkeeper Alphonse Areola on loan from PSG, Ola Aina from Torino, Ademola Lookman from RB Leipzig and Joachim Anderson from Lyon.
That means West Ham could potentially sign up to another FOUR players on loan if necessary & finance could be agreed."
Think haller must think he’s like a parachutist without a parachute, or a racing driver without a car, I’d love to know the thought process behind his signing, I get he looks uninterested doesn’t outjump but if your not that type of player he’s bound to be miffed, rather than change formation to accomadate this 40 million signing him let’s offload at a loss and watch his new club play to his strengths, because let’s be right no one would pay 5 million and play him as a lone striker

Cuz, the whole point about that is he was Pellegrini's signing. Why should you expect Moyes to change his methods to accommodate Pelle's thought processes?

Can you imagine Rice, Soucek, Antonio and Arnie all at once. Not forgetting Bowen, Benrahma, Fornals etc

I still reckon the whole Arnie thing is a load of pony
National loans - Loftus-Cheek, Lemina
International loans - Areola, Andersen, Lookman, Aina

Although I reckon he's now not too bothered that they cashed in on Diangana after the reports about his performances in WBA's last couple of games.
