Or maybe its just a load of nonsense started by Arnie's brother the way he did numerous times when Arnie was a West Ham player and you've all been suckered

    Bored now.
  • Arnies brother was working under Arnies lead. Arnie wanted out so his agent went to work.
  • David Moyes appears to have managed to alienate two of our more talented footballers in Diop & Haller so they feel they aren't wanted which IMHO is a retrograde step. Maybe they don't like his strict discipline?
  • Has something been said by either of them or is that your interpretation?
  • Sorry, Fortune, have to politely disagree.

Moyes gave Haller plenty of opportunity to prove himself before he turned to Antonio while Diop had some absolute mares before Moyes dropped him for Balbuena. Moyes has to do what he thinks is the right thing for the team not neccesarily for individual players
  • alderz, Haller gets a lot of criticism on here I'd be very surprised if he wasn't unhappy even though that appears to be his natural way of looking.

ASLEF, yes, plenty of opportunities playing him in a system that doesn't suite him!
  • Why wouldn’t you change your methods to get the best out of one of your players, think it’s man management or do you just think he don’t suit my system but will play him in it anyway just to prove he can’t
  • Never mind that his methods are getting the best out of pretty much every other player in the team, though.

I think he probably wants to get the beta out of the highest number of players as possible, and feels that if he changes his system too much for Haller he might see a drop off from other players.

If I was Moyes I’d probably say something like “why would I change my system for Haller when we’re having a good season?”
  • alderz, when we qualify for Europe under DM I will apologise for doubting his methods but until then?
  • I do have sympathy for Haller, he's come from a team that played to his strengths to a team that doesn't

    but

Moyes has to play the tactics that he thinks will best suit the players he has available.

To be fair Pellegrini signed Haller and even he didn't play a system that suited his strengths

Haller is the proverbial square peg in a round hole

Not Haller's fault, not Moyes fault. Just is

If I was moyes I’d say what’s the point of keep picking haller he doesn’t fit into my methods or system I may as well sell and play someone who does, and who I want to fit into my system
  • Cuz, if we haven't any money to get a CDM to help relieve the pressure on Rice & Soucek then as you say, with some reluctance, sell Haller and buy a decent player to rotate with the aforementioned two? May even be able to get a LB.

Is this a realistic measure? You say it like we are so used to our managers getting us into Europe.

Under DM this season we have more points after 17 games than we did under Bilic in the Payet season.

I haven't checked because I'm too lazy, but this is possibly one of our best ever PL returns after 17 games.

    Maybe his methods are working?
  • I don't get that Fortune. Sell a striker to get a back up DM. 🤔
  • Won’t need many players because moyes as improved most of the first team since his comeback, me personally believe he’s got a system that works until Antonio is injured
  • alderz, when we qualify for Europe under DM I will apologise for doubting his methods but until then?

I don’t think you’ll need to apologise regardless, certainly not to me!

I just find it strange that we’re having our best season since the last one at Upton Park, and people want to bash the manager for not getting more out of his backup striker.

I personally don’t think Haller is as bad as some people make out, in this system or otherwise (I did think he was trash against Everton, but I think I was in the minority there). I just think that if The Antonio System works for the other players (which it seems to) we shouldn’t expect the manager to change a system and style of play that suits the rest of the team.
  • Alderz I’ve got nothing against his system with a fit Antonio it’s the plan b when the inevitable Antonio injury comes and that’s not a dig at Antonio I love him, but surely in the summer he must have known haller couldn’t play the Antonio role but continues to play that system which doesn’t suit him, if you fail to plan, you plan to fail, instead of benrahma why not look for the forward who would fit into that style it’s not as if we are relying on benrahma at the moment is it ?

But our form without Antonio hasn’t exactly been an issue. So, again, if we keep doing ok in the system as a side, then why does it matter that one player is struggling with it?
  • I’ve never said it as my comments are more of a sticking up for a player who’s been slated by fans because he doesn’t fit into a system, my dig at moyes is because if anyone is at fault for it not working lays at moyes door he chooses both

Cuz, I don't think he's been slated by fans because he doesn't fit into a system but because he doesn't work hard enough, is slow, gets knocked off the ball far too easily for a big man etc.
  • So his this new work ethic of his just this season do you think ? If not why buy him or even more why didn’t we sell when moyes took over
  • Who would buy him? I can't see any other Premier league team wanting to fork out 20 million for him, never mind what we paid for him. He has no pace, doesn't put him himself about enough and has lead in his boots.

I was trying to think of a way to give one of Rice & Soucek a break. The plan being to rotate 3 quality CDM’s. If G & S can find the money to do that without selling great. I agree we do need another striker.

  • BBC has us linked with Eriksen, and says that we've decided against Arnie as he's too expensive.
  • WEST HAM CONCERNED ABOUT ANDERSON LOAN

The Guardian say West Ham are looking into ending Felipe Anderson's unproductive spell at Porto and attempting to protect the Brazilian winger's value by finding him a new loan club
  • It makes no sense for him to be out on loan not getting any minutes, but his value is done. There is no chance we're making our money back (or even getting close to it) on either Anderson or Haller, tbh.

I would have thought Eriksen would be expensive too. And I would imagine he would have more illustrious suitors than us anyway
  • As bad as it sounds, I'd forgotten about Anderson!
