  • Ironherb, I thought on the whole we were very good but I fear Moyes lacks decisiveness when changes are to be made. We lack strength in depth and when the inevitable injuries come we'll struggle and will not have a side capable of competing. I hope I'm wrong of course but IMO a couple of Injuries and we'll be in games hanging on for dear life at the start. We need to strengthen and not just be complacent that the same starting 11 will compete like that every week
  • So Haller comes on only after 89 minutes having found some confidence in midweek with his goals.

If that is his role in the squad, he may as well be sold now, even if it is at a loss.

Pointless having a £45m player Just sitting on the fringes of the starting line up.
  • It would not be a problem if we played like that quite often, but next week we will play Wolves who have a number on us & we won’t be as on it as we were yesterday & we will lose that. We never play badly & win; when we play badly we get soundly beat. I just feel that will be the story this season, we will turn up in the odd bonus game as valiant losers, but when it comes to the nitty gritty of the business matches, we will turn in our fair share of dross & take 0 points. Can’t really see us finishing any higher than 14th this season.
  • I’d be doing cartwheels if we managed 14th the way things are

I would take 14th, this is the first season I have been genuinely despondent about us, I hope I am wrong, that includes going home and away in relegation years
  • Yet another loss to a late goal. However spirited displays against the top teams are not going to relegate us it is the pathetic losses to teams like Newcastle at home.
The board need to spend some money this week as this squad needs boosting badly.

The board need to spend some money this week as this squad needs boosting badly.

I think that they spent it on the interest payments to owners
  • £17m interest over 5 years isn’t going to make any difference to the playing squad is it?
  • Fab; Diop Oggy Cresswell; Fredericks Rice Soucek Masuaku; Bowen Haller Antonio
  • By my calculations, Moyes has only delivered two clean sheets in his second spell with us, and one of those was his first game which, by his own admission, was not down to him

From a defensive coaching point of view the man is considerably out of his depth and the stats prove it beyond doubt. Can’t keep laying it all at the door of Cresswell (who, by the way, he keeps on selecting).
  • Its still only the 2nd game of the season

Yes we should've got points yesterday, and I'm as disappointed as anyone we didn't

But that said, you look at this performance compared to last week I can't see anything but positives in a game everyone thought we'd get battered

You can say that we got sloppy and let in 2 easy goals, but this is football....it happen, and we got picked apart by a team that has genuine quality (more than us) and they converted both their chances

The guys showed some heart and fight, and also a lot of quality at a time where the entire feel around the club is at an all time low

That was reminiscent of the Burnley game last year, whereby I thought we were the better team but still lost....and some of the reactions haven't surprised me given how nuts people went after that game

Difference was that this is gameweek 2, which makes it even more nuts

I would like to come face to face with Moyes (who i thought tactically got it spot on) and give him a slap and tell him he can use subs before the 80th minute
  • As usual it’s all about opinions

But in my view, if you concede twice in this league and lose, under any circumstances, that is nothing but a bad day at the office. Because as Lukerz says, we will turn up next time at Wolves with a completely different performance and still lose

Nearly launched into rolling on the floor laughing

We only let 2 goals in At a time , teams below us specialised in, letting far more in , one of them west broom
  • We are out of the bottom 3, thanks to Spurs !

WHU, the problem is we always let in sloppy goals, that's one thing we do on a consistent basis, if we can't buck the trend, it doesn't matter one iota if the performance is better.
We are a soft touch, and do that very well IMO.
We cannot keep this up, because if we do IMO we are down.

But that's not a problem we share

We have a bottom half team and we let in goals against a team whod be disappointed to finish outside ethe top 6 this year

Arsenal could've scored 6 against Fulham and they were lucky to get 2 against us

And Southampton have just conceded 5 against a poor spurs

We must do better? Yea well we will, this is game 2 we aren't going to go 38 games and get zero points are we
  • WHU, what u missed was I said we do this on a consistent basis , not just yesterday!

    Fabianski
    Diop - Ogbonna - Cresswell
    Fredericks - Rice - Soucek - Masuaku
    Bowen - Antonio - Anderson

Think that could be a decent longer term side, ideally replacing Cresswell with a CB option

Still undecided on Haller coming in; Antonio has 10 goals in his last 10 games & gives us far more effort wise & mobility wise
  • I agree with the formation played yesterday too Lukerz. We do however need to have someone on the bench who we can bring on to tighten things up. Yesterday we needed someone to come on to ensure we didn't concede in the last 15 minutes. Yarmo and Anderson do not defend. It should have been Lanzini or Cullen.

Probably not, but the way in which the clowns run the circus does leave a lot to be desired. It always seems to be a sticking plaster to cover an amputation with these two.

If the rumours of a takeover are true, then please upon please get rid of the thieving spongers.
  • Luke

I’d rather play Haller up top and Antonio wide. But obviously the awful recruitment means that would give us no backups on the bench
  • A bench that is only used after 85 mins though

Woulda meant we didn't have to sell Diangana to be in the same financial position.
  • I only just noticed that Noble wasn't on the bench, turns out he injured his toe.
