I think sometimes, realistically the club will need to consider a selling a player to re-invest and move forwards. We did it before I think when we sold Dicks to Liverpool (obviously on a smaller scale in terms of monies). Even Baz’s other team did it with Coutinho. But I wouldn’t consider doing it unless we know exactly how we will re-invest
Coutinho was sold for a hell of a lot of money. He was a great player for Liverpool but the decisive factors were that he wanted the TF to Barcelona and Liverpool successfully held out for an over the odds fee.
We are very much a team that doesn't seem to be able to get even fair value for a lot of our players whilst other teams are very skilled and milking as much out of a TF fee as possible (Levy is a great example).
Alongside the majority of postings here, I would be happy for Diop to stay but to get 50M for a guy we paid 22M for not so long ago (who isn't essential to the team) represents an unlike West Ham profit.
We could buy 10 Balbeunas for that! One of of them might actually turn out good (ta da!)
Ex is pretty much spot on with most things West Ham. So I'd imagine Diops not even going anywhere until at least the summer...
I agree that every player has a price and 50m for Diop would constitute good business even though I would prefer to keep him. I think for that price we could likely replace him and have 20-30m left over for an extra player.
Not until the summer however. Were we sat on 30points at present then perhaps cash in but we could not afford an injury without him and relegation would be a catastrophe.
He's 32 and on 200K a week. I know he will have to accept a 75% cut if he stays beyond current contract but that doesnt end for a while. So has he got any real incentive to move?
If that answer is actually yes, how much TF fee? Wages? I just cant see it
Makes quite a bit of sense when you think about it, allows a team to plan around FFP and acquire players they know they can afford but just not the current season
Off the top of my head can only think of big moves but anyway, Morata to Atletico Coutinho to Bayern Douglas Costa to Bayern Mbappe to PSG Icardi to PSG
In simplified terms, it means that any sale that values the club at £125m or more triggers a repayment of somewhere between 7.5 per cent and 30 per cent, with more punitive rates the higher the price tag and if the deal takes place before summer 2021. A sale after that would not trigger a repayment.
Have to admit I was disappointed when we sold Oxford and Browne for as little as 2.3mil and 300k respectively
Just goes to show how difficult it is for a prospect to genuinely make the step up
I'm sure they will still have a bright future, but makes the decision to let them go sit better with me seeing neither have made us regret the decision (so far)
Also is it just me, but loaning Holland to a league 1 side is a bit underwhelming
He's been talked about for a while as one of our brighter (brightest?) Prospects for the U23, but he's 21 already.....only 6 months younger than Browne and 2 months younger than Diangana
Maybe I'm wrong and the championship is too much too soon, just feel if he's doing what he's doing he should be at championship level

Fernandes offer is an 18 month loan.
Gabigol offer is an 18 month loan.
Do the board know something we don't :hmm:
