Odd. The Express says we're looking at a £16m deal for Kostas Fortounis from Olympiacos as an alternative to Andre Gomes but rather than a central midfielder he appears to be more of a Lanzini-style attacking midfielder/winger who even played as a striker a handful of times last season with very little in the way of defensive contribution.

I finally got round to googling this guy, I thought it was just a made up name, surely I wasn't the only one.
You know it's going to end up badly if we do sign him :puzzled:
What it also suggests is that we're confident of bringing in a striker. We wouldn't let Carroll and Perez go if we didn't have someone lined up, would we?
Add to the above the probability of Hernandez going aswell would we need two new strikers and what quailty are they going to be? Hopefully not Mitrovic! Some serious money on a couple of quality players please.
It's not as weird as it might seem, because Kostas is an abbreviated form of Konstantinos. It only sounds funny to English speakers.... although I also thought it was a spoof at first
It pains me to say this, but IMO this was one of our most ghastly signings for a long while. Right up there (or should I say down there) with Quashie and Savio - at least the latter got a winning assist for us during his short time with us, and we got a small fee for him when he went. What on Earth were our decision makers thinking?
Hugill is not even champ standard and I fear we struggle to find another club to take him off our hands even for free
Pretty impressed at how quickly we have moved to find players new clubs. Following the released list of Carroll, Adrian & Nasri, now to finding Fernandes a new club for a rumoured £8m, & now Lucas Pérez out too (who I liked as a 4th/3rd choice but nothing more), who clearly wasn’t in the managers plans long term. £10m recouped & a hell of a lot of wages.
Added to that we have sorted the back-up keepers without a penny spent.
Couple of good quality signings now & we will be well set (with a bit of luck injury wise).
Not a rumour or speculation, but after hearing my favvourite Bananarama song I just thought it would be nice if rival supporters aimed it at Burnley....
# I heard a rumour! They say you've got a broken Hart!!

I hadn’t thought of that. Drop the price on Pérez & get a better price for Maripan.
The Sun has Hernandez to Valencia for £8m.
:ok:

If that name is indeed a real person then prostrations to his parents and those of the Bulgarian defender Endov Sociallife.

Ex has also confirmed the increased bid.
Still think there is a good player in there, but not overly disappointed to see him go.

Reckon this will all but guarantee Maripan coming in.

I agree with all you have said in that financially we are quickly in an improved situation.
However, the squad has not yet been improved. I wait in anticipation for the two or hopefully three or four quality players we sign.
