    35 million to pay :hmm:
  • No signings and a duff older free agent at the end of the window.
The two David’s will continue to take money from the club and the club will continue to stagnate or as it looks like go backwards.

10 years the two David’s have been here and we are exactly where we were when they took over except they have earned a fortune in interest payments and we have lost our beloved Boleyn.
After 10 seasons we also still have David Sullivan in charge of transfers and relegation is on the cards. There has been no progress under our owners just years of waffle and lies.

For the club to progress we need a few decent players to improve our poor squad.
Our owners are always linked with decent players but never spend the money needed to take the club forwards as they promised.
20 million buys very little nowadays so we can probably expect very little more until the two Davids and the waste of money and space Brady decide the time is right to finish their money making scheme and sell the club.
  • In my view if we look at the team and the results alone so keeping to one side things like the move etc I feel it's hard to criticise the board this season as I feel our squad is a top half of the table squad, and that's what the board have funded.

However the problem is we have had bad injuries to key players, the squad wasn't put together with balance and some players are not performing at their best, all of which I would put down to Pelle. He was responsible for the terrible lack of support for Fabianski and the fact we sold more strikers than we replaced whilst spending on Midfielders.

The board will come in for criticism and deservedly so in my view if they don't do what is necessary to secure Moyes the means to correct these problems during this transfer window. I know its not a good window to do business and I know you can pay over the odds because its a sellers market in January due to clubs being desperate, but if you need enter the market because you are desperate then you need do it, and we desperately need an attacker to support Haller first and foremost in my view.

    And Fyador Chalov
If anything can stop a disaster a Fyador can...

Can't agree with this at all. Our limited budget is why we ended up with two free journeyman 'keepers. Does anyone believe Pellegrini or Husillos identified David Martin as a sufficient back-up for Fabianski? Ok, they may have decided on Roberto, but if the budget allowed, I'm sure they would have preferred to buy a better deputy.

Also, I doubt it was Pellegrini's deciusion to allow four strikers to leave and only bring in two. With Arnautovic going, we needed a top class striker, so it's little wonder that the majority of our budget went on Haller. Admittedly, it's Pellegrini's fault that he wasn't utilised properly, but again, with a bigger budget I'm sure he'd have brought in another forward.

And re the midfield; from what I've read Pellegrini wanted a (much needed) DM and identified Stanislas Lobotka. However, it was decided that Fornals, a more attacking player, was deemed better value for money. I believe this was heavily influenced by Sullivan who ultimately controls the club's finances. And don't forget, Pellegrini is on record as saying that if Obiang was sold, he would be replaced; he was sold, but not replaced, and that can only be because sufficient funds weren't released to do so.

Don't get me wrong, Pellegrini isn't blameless for the position we're in, but in terms of building a squad capable of challenging for the top seven, I would argue that a net spend of £25m is nowhere near enough, particularly considering the injury-prone nature of the club, and this is solely down to the board, IMO.

More likely to end up with Patrick Vieira.

Oh, and "Fyador" - very clever

    He sounds expensive
  • According to a yesterday's article in this Turkish newspaper, N'zonzi announced that he reached an agreement with West Ham and will be signing shortly.

It is in Turkish, but can be google-translated.

The article also says that N'zonzi was sidelined at Galatasarai due to discipline problems before he went on loan to Roma. :hmm:

Seems like a hard choice for him to make, Milan (AC) - 8th in Serie A, or London (WHU) - 17th in EPL and fighting relegation. :hmm:
  • I think he has family in London, which may sway any decision.

In some respects he'd be a good short-term signing; experienced in the PL so wouldn't need much time to acclimatise, and has been playing top-tier football in recent seasons. A better option than a dreadful Sanchez and perma-crock Wilshire, certainly.
  • Hamstew according to Sky its Milan and saints in for Cash.
  • Another loan of an older player who has done nothing of any note for years.
What on earth is going on ? Do we not have any sort of plan whatsoever to move this club forwards?
Nzonzi is a just another typical West Ham signing. He will come and take his money play every now and then and add absolutely nothing to a midfield dominated by Noble who is also past it.
  • Ronaldo Vieira also linked. Ex-Leeds, now at Sampdoria. I remember him being pretty decent in the Championship for Leeds, and will obviously be familiar with the English game.

Not someone I'd turn to in our current situation, but not a bad shout for the long-term. But then to echo Hutton's point, I don't think long-term thinking is a strength of our board.
  • Nzonzi has played about 40 games over the last two years , he has scored 1 goal. He has been loaned out by Roma and frozen out of the Galatasaray team because he is a trouble maker whose attitude to playing for them changed when they exited the champions league.
How on earth is he deemed a good player to come and join a relegation battle?

The board are utterly mad if they sign him and also Roma should be paying us if we take him. For us taking him off their hands. Why would we give them 3.5 mill just to loan a trouble maker?

Our transfer policy is pathetic and it is clear our board have no real plans at all. It is all just flying by the seat of their pants!
  • They have a plan which involves minimum net investment for maximum personal profit
  • So you believe everything you read then? :hmm:
  • Begs the question, why didn't we identify him as a potential target when he was just up the M1.
Has he really improved so much in 18months going from the Champo to Serie A and doubled his value? :hmm:
  • Even if we manage to get a point tonight (looking unlikely)....we need reinforcements

Even if they might cost a bit more

This team is so slow, we need some athletism.... especially in midfield
  • Sullivan is there tonight. If he can't see that we need at least three players then we may as well all give up.
  • So many issues with this squad it's scary

Too many passengers in this team

While I love Antonio to bits, the fact we seem to be pinning all of our hopes on the fitness of a player who in all honesty, is standard mid tier premier league player is shocking

Need to find a way to shift Wilshere, Yarmolenko and Sanchez asap (although who would take them)

We need reinforcements NOW even if we have to pay more....as the risk we have with being relegated is far greater than paying a little over the top
  • Noble, Snodgrass and Lanzini all getting caught in possession. Ian Bishop never ever got caught - not a drinking chance
  • Just watched it again on MOTD and it looked even worse. For the most part they just jogged between whichever Leicester players had the ball and watched them pass it around. When we had it, which was extremely rare, they just took it off of us.
We seem to play a different game to most teams.

Our next 4 look interesting. As we never seem to beat Brighton it looks like at best 1 point from that one with three pastings in the other
  • West Ham United have registered an interest in signing Marseille‘s Dimitri Payet, according to tomorrow’s L’Équipe.
