  • After tonight I think we may need to rethink the transfer plans before Thursday, unless the rumours on SSN are to be believed?
  • We may need a striker after all, Arnie injured?
  • Fear not, the board are meeting today to discuss transfer targets to acquire by tomorrow.

    What could possibly go wrong.
  • Ricardo Vaz Te is back in training with the under 23s according to Ex on Twitter.
  • SKY Breaking News is that we are close to signing Maxi Gomez.

Beat me to it IronHerb this is the sort signing that gives me hope we can progress young highly rated and knows where the goal is ;biggrin
  • Ex claiming that we're discussing loaning Cahill, Drinkwater and Giroud from Chelsea.

Then tweeting then Drinkwater is unlikely.
  • loaning 3 players from one club is that even allowed ?
  • Maybe one or two of the three.

Not sure really, we're relying on ITK snippets at the moment.

Problem is we need cover in all three positions.
  • Frustrating that Maxi won't be here till th summer after Arnies injury, but happy if we do actually sign him as he's the right calibre of player

I would take in order 1. Giroud 2. Cahill 3. Drinkwater but honestly all 3 would be a good short term solution
  • I believe you can only loan 1 player from the same club.
  • Is Cahill out of contract? ;hmm
  • Agree with Giroud. Improvement on Andy.
  • Would take Cahill
  • West Ham have received an offer from Schalke to sign striker Lucas Perez.

The German club want to take Perez on loan for the rest of the season with an option to buy the 30-year-old Spaniard next summer.

He joined the Hammers from Arsenal for £4m in August and has scored five goals in 14 appearances, nine as a substitute.

Schalke sit 12th in the Bundesliga and are through to the Champions League round of 16, where they will play Manchester City.

  • Would be ok with that if they pick up his wages and we use that money to replace him, otherwise it's an utterly pointless move.
  • But Perez is a pretty pointless player.

Would rather have Perez over Carroll
  • I see no benefit in letting him go out on loan, personally.

IMO, the pecking order of strikers should be Arnie, Hernandez, Perez, Carroll. If Arnie is out, I would rather has Perez as an option than Carroll, particularly given Carroll's injury history.

We've clearly budgeted for his wages for the season, so them taking him on loan and paying the wages doesn't really benefit us massively. If they took him on loan with a mandatory permanent deal at the end of the season for what we paid for him or more, then I'd do it. Otherwise, I think it's not worth it.
  • If we need short-term injury cover, though, and are wages budget has no wiggle room, we might need to make a trade off....
  • MrsGrey

If we are replacing him with someone then sure, but otherwise I fear we will be short.
  • From BBC
"Gomez to West Ham in the balance"

If you were Maxi, and you were to see our last 3 performances, wouldn't you think twice about joining a bunch of losers.
I'm pretty certain that at his age it's more than just about the money.
Win medals and the money takes care of itself.
  • BREAKING NEWS
West Ham have rejected an offer from Dutch club Heerenveen to take Reece Oxford on loan until the end of the season.
Sky Sports News have been told “the players is now prepared to see out his contract until 2021 because of the politics surrounding the player and the way he has been portrayed."

Wonder what that is all about? ;hmm
  • BBC report says they are unsure if the deal will be completed in time this window but there are so many reports I am unsure of which report to be unsure about or is that a double negative overall I am unsure ;lol
  • I don't know anything at all about Maxi Gomez, but anybody described as a burly front man is alright in my book.

Let's get him in the team along with the cat-like goalkeeper, rugged left-back, craggy centre-half, imperious midfield general and twinkle-toed winger.

Ade, have you been reminiscing, cos' it sounds like the 1964 team you'd like to see:

Jim Standen, Jack Burkett, Ken Brown, Bobby Moore, Peter Brabrook, Sir Geoff

    ;lol
  • And that just led me onto this:

    How times have changed.
