Messi is 31, Suarez will be 32 next week and Christian Ronaldo will be 34 in February. The joint second top scorer in Serie A Fabio Quagliarella will be 36 in a fortnight.
The levels of fitness today mean that players aren't "over-the-hill" at 30.
Not sure why you’re talking about Messi etc. These are exceptional players. Secondly, reeling off players’ names who are at their peak at around age 32 doesn’t mean that’s the norm.
Maybe it’s just me but I would rather have a squad with an average age of e.g. 26, compared to a squad with an average age of e.g. 31. All thing helds equal (i.e. assuming same ability level).
It makes more sense from a business point of view.
Since I know you like stats, we have the third oldest squad in the league, according to transfermarkt.
If Arnie goes I think I would like to sign Tammy Abraham and let him be first choice striker. In a team like ours he would get a lot more chances than at Swansea, and we've seen in the Championship that he tends to take a lot of chances he gets. Chelsea accepted £18m for him from Wolves but he rejected it. I think we'd have a shot.
Know nothing about the bloke, but had a good chuckle reading this article, which appears to be translated by the guy who did 'English as she is spoke'.

Maybe it's because he will replace Batshuayi when he comes to us ;whistle

And he's the first manager in a very long time that I trust completely with this. He knows what he's doing, who he wants, and who he doesn't need.
So all will be well, IMO ;ok
The fact is they will all be 30 years old by April 2019.
So, we would have to be looking to change some of them within a couple of years anyway.
If we can come out of this with younger strikers (in their prime), this may be a good thing in the grand scheme of things.
Krzysztof Piatek
Benjamin Tetteh
Maxi Gomez
Funnily enough so would I.
All I’m saying is it may be a blessing in disguise that they (supposedly) want to leave (except for Carroll?).
If we can get good money for them, and replace them with younger, fresher models (I mean players in their prime), it may benefit us in the long run.
As opposed to keeping them all for a couple of years and being in a potential situation where they have declined in terms of performance.

#Maxi Gobez
#Marko who?
But he's been linked to Barca....so not gonna get my hopes up
West Ham have had a second bid for £45m accepted for Maxi Gomez.
Champo, I think you can raise your hopes little bit now.
