The only thing that keeps excelent players happy on the bench is money. We can't afford that kind of wages do therr is no way we can buy players that would fit into our first team simply for emergencies.
I agree if we brought in a new centre back just to sit on the bench because Reid is gonna miss the first 2 or 3 games makes no sense likewise for Kouyate and Antonio
I'm happy for the "one in one out" policy that's being discussed atm the squad doesn't NEED anything other then a back up striker given Sakho and carrol history
If we lose Feghouli or Snodgrasa then bring in a winger.....lose em both maybe get a younger player with big potential e.g. karamoh from Caen who we were looking at etc or Patrick Roberts on loan from City
We lose Adrian bring in a keeper
Lose Sakho bring in a striker
As of right now, in my opinion, the first XI is about as good as we cna get right now, and we are only a striker short for depth with a good talent pool at youth level to choose from if needed in Burke, Rice, Cullen, Martinez, Holland, Trott not to mention Samuelsen and Browne who have somewhat gone unnoticed with their respective injuries
Champo ;thumbsup I would really like to see Burke/Rice given a shot if possible this season, Cullen too. Not sure Quina/Holland are ready. Maybe, Martinez but I wouldn't want too much pressure on him. I don't think another striker and competition for Kouyate would hinder those chances personally.
Eski, I'm pretty sure (might be wrong and if so I apologise) that there was a comment about Collins and Fonte having "a combined age of nearly 70" and needing replacing.
I see Calvert-Lewis, and Davies, and Holgate, and Browning getting games for Everton and I just don't see why we couldn't have some youngsters being the back up to the back up too. I can't believe that our kids are that much poorer than Southampton's and Everton's

Yeah I remember that, not today though, I was referring to the large number of posts today.
Ald, back to the point I keep making, which doesn't disagree with what you've just said. Which other player, including youngsters can take over Kouyates role if he's unavailable?
And which player, youngsters included are you pinning our hopes on as being one of two fit strikers available for the majority of the season, other than Hernandez?
I'm not saying don't play youngsters, I want to play youngsters but those two still need addressing. Honestly I'm concerned that the majority of people posting today don't think it's an issue because that likely means people in the club don't think it is either. Just wait til Kouyate or Hernandez get injured and people say we have no one reliable to step in. Can we save this post so people can't respond with "hindsight is a wonderful thing"?
Well, personally, I don't have Kouyate down as a starter, so finding a back up isn't a priority for me. But, I think with some bulking up Fernandes is capable of that role.
And I do actually think we need a striker. With Fletcher going I think he should be replaced. I guess my point centres more on the idea that this window (if it ended right now) would be seen as anything other than a big success.
We sell Reid we undo most the good work in this window.
Although the author doesn't know what he's on about. Says 'West Ham may be prepared to listen to offers as they look to recoup money from the spending'.
There's a reason they call this 'the silly season'.
It's not a 'story' - it's just vague wondering. When I see words like 'considering', 'weighing up' and 'pondering' in a transfer rumour, I check to make sure I've got enough salt.
- Hi David, we'd like to offer you considerably less than market value for a player you rate, and have on a long term contract.
- What? I'm sorry? Is that even physically possible? OK, OK but can I speak to Reid anyway?
- Hi Winston, look, I know you are at a club where you are considered an important player, but I'd like to pay peanuts for you, and keep you on the bench unless one of my proper players gets injured. How does that sound to you? What? You as well? That's what Diddy D said. What? You'll show me how it can be done if you ever see my stupid face? I take it that's a no, then.
If Winston Reid chose not to leave for Arsenal when his contract was nearly up meaning a nice signing on fee, champions league football for a genuine top four at the time team I cannot see him being interested in Everton at this time. Koeman looks a good manager and will likely move himself in the not to distant. Wouldn't be surprised if he ended up at Arsenal actually.
Neymar's father asked PSG to delay formal negotiations with Barcelona over a £450m deal for his son until after 31 July - that is the day when he earns a £23.3m commission for his part in persuading the forward to sign a new contract with the Nou Camp club last October.
Neymar's (and his father) are still under investigation for corruption. (The cases about tax evasion and fraud have gone away. Barcelona admitted it paid 100m and not 57m Euros for him, as they had originally claimed, and they 'settled' the tax fraud case by paying a fine.)

As aldz said better teams then us have utilised youth players for squad depth
There arent many teams Reid wouldnt get into (not the squad, but the actual first 11) comfortably...
Off the top of my head, Spurs are one of the few exceptions

If they didn't want to spend it, they wouldn't have. And he seems so certain the Ronnie K wants Reid.
Junk jouro IMO

Might as well have written:
West Ham are pondering a £10m move for Coutinho.

Although, I'm not sure your terrible pun deserves it.
I'd be very surprised.
(edit - Oh, wait - you mean Koeman, not Reid? My bad.)
Nice to see all is fair in Football! ;nonono
